ok i honestly dont understand why people dont like these dlcs. yeah i guess anarchys children was pretty lacking and the customization wasnt really good but i really liked the alien hunters dlc and the new rulers and weapons but i wish we could find out what happened to vahlen in the dlc instead of having to wait or probably not find out what happened to her

In general I really like this game except for the constant interruptions when investigating sites. Quests are thrown at you too fast when you are trying to gather resources. I would like to see an option introduced that allows investigations to continue uninterrupted while doing quests. If you ignore a quest a more difficult one is thrown at you as some sort of punishment for daring to ignore the game's flow.

Huh, I'm rather puzzled by the low rating this pack is getting - I think its a must have if you enjoyed Xcom 2! :D

I mean, I can get that maybe you don't dig the aesthetic of Anarchy's Children (but i rather enjoyed it) but Alien Hunters is great - presents some really interesting but not overwhelming challenges. I can only hope Shen's Last Gift lives up to my enjoyment of the first 2!

The 2 DLCs that have been realeased to date are terribly poor in terms of content and even balancing, or simply how the game feels, for the 2nd one : Alien Hunters. Unless the last DLC changes the way this is going (which is probably not going to happen), I can't recommend buying the Reinforcement pack.

If you really want to do it, wait until the release of the last DLC, but I highly doubt it'll be worth at all.

I really don't understand why people are flaming so much about this DLC pack...

Both of the already released DLCs are pretty nice in my opinion.
Anarchy's children let you style your hunters like real Terminators and if you got the Arnold Schwarzenegger voice pack it is really nice and fun. ( You don't have to style your hunters like on a Halloweenparty !)

The Alien Hunter DLC is nice too. It adds many additional gameplay elements to the game and makes it interessting enough for me to start playing it again. I won't go into detail here but to the babies who cry about the game getting to difficult - there is an option in the menu where you can put it down you. These bosses may make the game more difficult but isn't this their intesion? It takes a lot more strategical thinking than ever before in XCOM because you absolutely need to use the right weapon at the right time or you lose.

Buy it if you like to dress your squad like terminators and fight really difficult enemies.

Now I've seen a lot of bad reviews for this, people complaining about the quality of the DLC, that they don't like the options that they offer, and that waiting on the final one will fix the problem. I'll set the record straight as I see it.

Alien Hunters: This really comes down to whether or not you wish to follow the story of what happened to Dr. Vahlen from the previous Xcom. The aliens it adds to the game are a massive challenge, and frankly, I enjoyed it. Being perpetually terrified that a boss may appear at any moment keeps you on edge in combat. And as previously mentioned, this sheds some light on where Dr. Vahlen went and what she did, vital if you are a die hard xcom fan!

Anarchy's children: Now I for one love customisation on my soldiers; I like setting up themes for my squads so that all my troops looks professional and by the book. BUT, there are times that I just love the concept of a major badass killer going in on the enemy, with a top hat and short shorts on yelling obscenities. This pack adds some very weird cusomisation options, and the way to approach this is to determine if you like the idea of having a mad max based squad. The armor props are very reminiscent of mad max, and equally as mental. I LIKE THIS FOR THE RECORD.

Shen's Last Gift: I'll update this when it's released, but sufficed to say, I like these other two dlc's.

SIDE NOTE HOWEVER. If you really want to go for top of the range customisation, then the workshop is the place to go! Some of the content people have created in there, or re-used from other games, is nothing short of superb and have only added to the quality of this game. So support them too, they're doing a fantastic job! What I'm trying to say here is that for customisation sake, the workshop may be a better option for you!

Anarchy's children was a little odd, and nothing you can't find from the workshop; but Alien Hunters is pretty cool. 7/10 would get squad-wiped by giant snakes again.

Don't buy this, its a con and will detract from your gaming experiance by adding in weird stuff that doesnt fit within the great xcom universe. Stick to the free DLC instead,

I love the main game. I want to love me some DLC...

But compared to the refined quality of the former, and considering the pricetag of the latter... this stuff is cheap and nasty, and clashes too much with the original. Don't do it. Not worth it.

Overpriced DLC pack. The main game is great but the 2 DLC packs released so far are weak especially when compared to the main game, they simply don't add much and you'd be better off supporting mod makers. I don't have much hope for the 3rd DLC pack too. :( Free mods offer better content and greater ambition. Firaxis didn't even try with these DLC packs, a shame when fans do a better job for free so kudos to the community! +1

This game is not Xcom EU/EW. Xcom2 will not hold your hand like I felt Xcom1 did, it will not tell you what the new aliens abilities are, it will drop you in a mission and throw them right at you and you will learn the hard way what all the new abilities are. In 5-10hrs of gameplay, the game is still punishing me for not knowing what everything does. I recommend playing the 1st playthrough at a difficulty lower that you think you can handle just to learn all the mechnics. I ended up getting to a point in my first attempt where I just had to restart with the knowledge I learned. You cannot play ironman with the tutorial enabled either at the moment. With that being said, I am still enjoying it very much, I think there are a lot of great changes, and as frustrated as I am getting I am getting every penny out of it by murdering these damn aliens.

*Edit* After having reread my initial review and the comments, I see I used the wrong terminology in my original description. If you do the tutorial you will learn about the new mechanics such as concealment, hacking, etc. However, new alien powers you will not find out until they aree used on you. While Xcom EU also exposed you to aliens and their abilities in a similar fashion, I feel Xcom EU gave you some wiggle/breathing room when you learned about something new, the aliens abilities and the AI behind them is much more aggressive and a lot of their new abilities are very punishing. Basically I learned real quick, that the best way to go about it is to not let them ever use any of their new abilities and well if you can't kill them quick enough, mimic beacons are your friend.

46 hours later, I've beaten the game on Veteran Ironman and I am starting another playthrough now with some mods. I still without a doubt recommend this game for anyone who loved Xcom and/or TBS tactic games. Beware however there are some annoying bugs still going on such as, CTD, broken animations, LOS through solid walls, enemy AI, etc. Still I believe the game in its current state is worth dealing with those bugs as the rest of it is great fun.

Looking forward to what this season pass brings us.

Create characters that resemble the closest people in your life and name them accordingly. As you lose them in battle, keep replacing them with the closest remaining people in your life. After playing for about 20 hours, visit the memorial. Don’t forget tissues. 10/10.

Awesome game, but "Anarchy’s Children" is a lackluster DLC. Childish and out of theme props.

Should've hired the author of the "capnbubs" mod in the workshop, his work looks much more professional than this.

Until we know more about the next 2 DLCs, I don't really recommend buying this.

Look for screenshots on the internet before you buy this, you might be disappointed.

The "discount" the reinforcement pack offers includes the soundtrack, Anarchy's Children, Alien Hunters, and Shens Last Gift. Shens Last Gift is yet to be released. Since I don’t walk around listening to XCOM music, I don’t see any value there. As for the first two DLC's, let’s just say I don’t have much hope Shens Last Gift will be the hail marry that redeems the package. So far there has been very little content, and the content that has been included leaves me thinking Firaxis didn't play test. As an added bonus you will get new bugs, unbalanced gameplay, and some cosmetics that leave me wondering if the true apocalypse will be peoples fashion sense. I love the base game, but could not in good conscious recommend this DLC so far.

The store page has it all as to why this isn't worth it.

Pack = $20
1st DLC which doesn't align with their stated intent of the Reinforcement Pack: $5

If the other two DLC's are priced at $10 each, then buying the Reinforcement Pack was a waste of money, as the 1st DLC doesn't deliver on their statement which I copied from the store page below:

"Bolster your ranks with three themed DLC packs available together for an amazing discounted value*. Each themed content pack will add unique new twists to the core game experience:

Anarchy’s Children: Rebellion-themed content with more dramatic soldier customizations. Now Available."

More dramatice soldier customizations is definitely subjective since the majority of feedback points to them being more clownish than dramatic. Taking your resistance from soldiers to apocolyptic rejects instead. And the most important piece - the DLC fails to meet their stated goal of "will add unique new twists to the core game experience."

No map. No new game play mechanics. Nothing that adds to the core game experience from the first DLC.

If you've not bought the Reinforcement Pack yet, save your money.

As for "Anarchy's Children", let me put it this way:
If XCOM dressed like that, the world would be better off with ADVENT.

Still very hopeful about the next two DLCs, though, so this isn't necessarily a bad pack to buy.
However, if "Alien Hunters" and "Shen's Last Gift" were cheaper as a pair than the Season Pass, you might want to buy them individually - with AC, you don't miss much (if anything).
