WOTR is a great game with a great combat system.
The melee combat system works with directional swings and stabs, the way you move your mouse when you hold the LMB will determine where you will swing from (e.g. if you hold LMB and move the mouse to the left, you will pull your weapon back the left side and swing to the right). Not to mention you have to compensate for what kind of weapon you have compaired to the enemies armour. This makes for very strategic placement of swings and stabs and very intence battles/duels.
In War of the Roses you can make your own loadout of weapons, from the devistating (aka OverPowered) Pollaxe to the all mighty Quarterstaff. After playing a while and you learn how to play the game properly, you tend to (Alot of the time accidentally) create and learn your own style of fighting and when you make your loadout, you will feel like this character really is YOUR personal character.
Personally I find it really fun when you are playing with a group of people and you make a shield wall, do a calvary charge, hail the enemy with arrows or even just duel eachother one on one.
Overall, I highly reccomend you try the free demo of this game to see if it is the right game for you.
