Picked this game up on sale not expecting much as I have never played a stalker game before but this is game is actually really fun, the graphics are not too great but the gameplay more than makes up for it. You will find youself very underpowered at the begining of the game and if you are going into with no prior knowlage the game can be incredably punishing and really fun to play as you have no idea where to go and what to do, so you just end up doing what you want. The biggest flaw with this game in my opinion is that it has lots of bugs, for example I was going a mission to track down a guy who I needed to speak to for a mission he was looking the otherway and clipping into the ground and I couldn't speak with him and had to restart my game.
A overall good and fun game well worth the money
I give 8.5/10

As a S.T.A.L.K.E.R of the Zone ever since Shadow of Chernobyl came out, I have spoiled myself with amazing mods that have thousands of hours of work put into them that give Stalker an even more palatable flavor. Shadow of Chernobyl reigns triumphant over this game due to A) The larger number of maps and content B) The expanded story that will immerse you into The Zone with it's culture and mutants. C) The weapons were the same as Shadow of Chernobyl with a few ♥♥♥♥ tier weapons like the over and under (♥♥♥♥ tier in vanilla, but apply mods and watch out!!). Overall I would give this game a 7.5/10 in comparison to Shadow of Chernoby, but if you really want a true taste of Stalker I would just reccomend skipping Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat because frankly even with mods they are for ♥♥♥♥ tier plebs who just walked out of the Cordon. IF YOU ARE WILLING TO SPEND A FEW HUNDRED HOURS WITH ENDLESS CONTENT, DANGEROUS MUTANTS (Yes that's ♥♥♥♥ing right there are more dangerous mutants than the dreaded Chimera like the Electro chimera, Lava Chimera, and Phantom Chimera; all which are pretty difficult and much more deadly plus at least 75 other completely different kinds of mutants) AND TRUE ANARCHISTS (Last Day, Avengers, Elite Monolith Forces, and overhauled Spetsnaz) TREAT YO SELF AND DOWNLOAD CUMULATIVE PAK 2 (Joint Pak 2 which includes Narodnaya Solyanka, Collector 1-3, Sniper Storyline, and much much more!). I swear, ever since starting this mod I have felt like a small child opening a Christmas gift and discovering so much about the Stalker community and all of the modders who worked their ♥♥♥ off to polish off a legend known as Shadow of Chernobyl.. The closest thing to JP2 in CoP might... just maybe... be SGM 1.2, but that is a looong stretch.

TLDR: If you are new to Stalker and think Shadow of Chernobyl is 'too Russian' or 'too hard' and want some of the "upgraded FPS elements", go ahead and purchase this ♥♥♥♥ of a game which has about as much substance as a black hole. Or do yoself a favor and treat yo self to a mod called Joint Pak 2! Cheeki breeki and good hunting stalkers!

This game is literally the love of my life.
Horrifying, radiation-riddled waifu/husbando.

If you have a thing for slow(-ish) and methodical FPS, survival, horror, sci-fi, and post-apocalyptic scenes, you will not regret giving this game a try.

You should keep in mind though, that this game (Call of Pripyat) takes place after the "main" events of the game. If you care for story (you kind of should, but it's not necessary to enjoy the game), you should play Shadow of Chernobyl first. It's older and the first game in the series but it's not worse in quality.

Clear Sky is the second game in the series and a prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl. You can ignore it.

I have probably around 300-500 hours total in the game, but I only recently (130 hours of gameplay) bought the game on Steam for ease of reinstall. (The game has a somewhat active modding scene.)

At first I was skeptical, it being an older game and all, and I didn't want to waste my time with clunky controls and bad graphics. But then I read the reviews. It was apparent that many people loved this game, so I dug a bit deeper. Turns out, a team of fans got together and made one of the best game revamps that doesn't change the core gameplay I've seen since some of those crazy Skyrim mods. This mod is called "Call of Pripyat: Complete" and I highly recommend getting it if you get this game. After learning about this mod, I was just about ready to buy and then I saw some reviews that said it was basically a free world Metro 2033 with super cheeki breeki russians. if that's not going to get you to buy this game, I don't know what is.

Amazing...just amazing!
I played the first game on a disk i found last 2 years, and that was a true horror game with an overwhelmingly story and shooting.
This game is truely overwhelmingly positive! the atmosphere is amazing and every character you meet causes you to change and maybe a little sad when they died...
If i suggest buying this game? i suggest buying the complete pack (altho clear sky isn't that good as the first and third game)
AS A BONUS: if you finish the game, download MISERY mod for the game. its a must play mod!

the thing i really love about this game is how linear the missions are as well as the fact that tasks and main story missions seem to harmlessly blend together.

pros: linear based missions and gameplay that blends into the open world

cons: a smaller map than some competing games but certainly impressive for the time of production

CoP in an of itself is a very good game. Mod it though and it becomes phenomenal! Personally, I recommend Call of Chernobyl with the Absolute Nature/Structures, Arsenal Overhaul 3, and Warfare addons. There's no story, but all the maps from all three Stalker games are completely unlocked and free to roam through. Then, with the Warfare mod, you're suddenly in a massive faction war across the entire map vying for dominance. It's absolutely brilliant!
Oh, and also, all hail the Monolith!

Not a detailed review, just wanted to express my appreciation for this open-world survival game which I played for the second time on Steam.

Great atmosphere and weather, beautiful landscapes, nice story and side-quests too; game is not so hard on vanilla (you'll die a lot anyway) but that's how games should be, in my opinion... Challenging but entertaining at the same time.
Apart from some FPS' drops (I have an old graphic card, though), the game is bug-free, cut scenes are not the best but the ending pictures are very nice (they remind me a lot of Fallout ending style).

That's it, if you haven't done it already, go for a walk in the zone. You'll make friends and have some vodka :)

Im gonna skip the amazing graphics, sound, atmosphere and gameplay, and tell you the most important thing: this game has the best AI in any game to date. The developer was inspired by FEAR in terms of AI in battles: the enemies flank you, sneak up on you, take cover, give commands.

But this is not just an FPS, it is also an RPG, and HOLY CRAP! if this aint the best RPG out there, then please let me know! Thus, the AI extends outside of combat. Monsters travel in packs and engage in fights with other monsters and humans for survival's sake. If the fight seems to be in their favor, they will engage, otherwise they will fall back and move along. Squads of stalkers patrol the Zone: sometimes to defend their base, sometimes to recapture a point. Sometimes it's just one greedy stalker trying to retrieve an artifact from an anomaly so that he can sell it later.

And that's another thing about this game: artifacts and their anomaly counterparts. You see, this is the Zone. Radiation has chnaged many things, not just animals and humans. You will find these mini puzzles with an expensive artifact as a reward. Sometimes it's a timed electricity trap. Sometimes it's a gravitational anomaly that holds the ground and water up in the air in an unnatural fashion.

Marketing is killing the gaming industry nowadays. Sales people push developers to improve on graphics and numbers: more DLC, more weapons, more maps, more more more. And it seems like everyone has forgotten the other ingredients that make a game good. Such as AI.

If you haven't played this game yet, buy it now! I have spent most of my time playing STALKER: Clear Sky (cheaper), which puts more emphasis on factional warfare. But as far as I can tell, this one is just as good, if not better.

You want to explore a dangerous world full of mutants, hostile humans, strange "anomalies" that can rip your members off or burn you to death ? This game is for you.

You want to hear Russian/Ukrainian actors speaking English ? This game is for you.

You want to get more point of slavness, drink vodka and become the cheekiest of the breeki ? S.T.A.L.K.E.R is here for you.

The atmosphere is amazing, I love the map and yep, there is a lot of challenge in the hardest difficulty. Go try it.

Call of Pripyat definitely lives up to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. name!
10/10 obviously.

These games have never failed to impress me. The Call of Pripyat Complete mod does volumes to improve upon the look and feel of this game, although without the mod I'd still say the game is damn near perfect like any of the other S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. However, compared to the other games I felt like this game was... smaller... mostly because there didn't seem to be as much territory to explore. The story also seemed to be lacking a bit after playing SoC, which had an incredible story to it. They made it work though with plenty to do! I'm a huge fan of both the Fallout series and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, and although I spend way more time on Fallout, I have to admit S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a way better RPG (if one can even consider Fallout to be an RPG).
