About This Game

Serious Sam 3: BFE is a first-person action shooter, a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom.

Serving as a prequel to the original indie and Game of the Year sensation, Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam 3 takes place during the Earth’s final struggle against Mental’s invading legions of beasts and mercenaries.

Key Features

  • Frantic Arcade-Style Action – Hold down the trigger and lay waste to a never-ending onslaught of attackers or face being overrun by Mental’s savage beasts. No cover systems, no camping – it’s just you against them. All of them!
  • Fearsome Enemy Creatures – A new battalion of unforgettable minions including the rumbling Scrapjack and towering Khnum join the legendary Headless Kamikaze, Gnaar and Sirian Werebull to create the fiercest opposition you’ve ever had the pleasure of mowing down!
  • Spectacular Environments – Battle across the expansive battlefields of near-future Egypt bursting at the seams with total chaos. The shattered cities of tomorrow lined with the crumbling temples of an ancient world become your destructible playground!
  • Destructive Arsenal – Unleash Serious Sam’s arsenal of weapons including a scoped assault rifle, the double-barreled shotgun, the explosive automatic shotgun, the punishing minigun, and the almighty barrage of flaming cannonballs! Carry all of Sam’s weapons at once and switch between each gun on the fly for maximum firepower!
  • Brutal Melee Attacks – When the going get’s tough, the tough take matters into their own hands! Rip out the eye of a closing Gnaar, twist off the face of the hideous Scrapjack or snap the neck of an Arachnoid Hatchling for an instant kill!
  • Co-Op Multiplayer – Go to war against Mental’s horde with up to 16 players online and annihilate everything that moves across 12 single-player levels of mayhem in Standard Co-Op, Classic Co-Op, Coin-Op Co-Op, Beast Hunt and Team Beast Hunt mode.

I will start off by saying that I have played and finished all the PC SS games, (FE, SE and SS2) and own their release date boxed versions, so I love the series. But BFE is tedious, has zero new ideas, repetitive environments, boring level design, and annoying new enemies. I completely felt like Croteam lost their way with it, and forgot that what made original SS games stand out was the fact that they went against the industry norm at the time, and did something fresh. With SS3 not only did they repeat most of what the older games did without building on it, they also added a whole bunch of unoriginal elements copied from modern shooters. Simply put, this is a boring game because it doesn't do anything new as a SS game or as an FPS Action game. I only got half way through it back in 2013, and then started playing it over in 2016 thinking maybe I just wasn't in the right mood to enjoy it back then, but that wasn't the case. I only managed to finish it by forcing my self to play it, and only because I couldn't stand not finishing a Sam game. Serious Sam 2 gets ragged on by SS fans a lot, but it's a much more fun game then this.
Anyway, I post this review in hopes that maybe it will have some kind of influence over SS4, which I am very much anticipating. I hope Croteam realizes that SS formula has been copied and improved on in recent years, by games like Shadow Warrior (2013) and the new Doom, which means they have to do a lot more then build a same game with new levels and better graphics. People forget how influential first SS game actually was, it took the FPS games out of the scripted corridors and put the focus back on fun, Painkiller and the new Doom would not be games they are if it wasn't for Serious Sam. Serious Sam 4 needs to feel fresh again, just like FE did all those years ago.
TLDR: Many long time serious Sam fans will most likely find BFE boring, I would really only recommended this for people who haven't played SE and FE.

Buy this game if :
1. You loved the originals.
2. You hate taking cover, having your health regenerate like all the new shooters in the market.
3. You wanna kill some alien scum.
4. You wanna fast paced, frenetic action.
5. You wanna be a shot gun surgeon.
6. You wanna rip out eyeballs, hearts and snap some necks.
7. You wanna get SERIOUS!

This game is just like the classics with the same combat mechanics but updated visuals.

On that note it's time for SAM, I AM.

This is a return of an old-school game to the old-school format. SS3 is again a hommage to light-hearted but hard-action FPS games of yesteryear. Bad jokes, horror moments, thousands of bullets for the invading hordes, and heavy metal! Seriously. :)

This game is ♥♥♥♥ing amazing. 1 point(s) removed for insanely irritating repetition in the soundtrack, .5 point(s) removed for the boney dudes being more annoying than entertaining.

We've been playing this splitscreen co-op and we are easily distracted, yet played 5 hours straight of it.
Good work producers <3

Do you like Left 4 Dead? Do you like Killing Floor? Do you like the Brutal Doom mod? Do you like mindlessly shooting everything you see with intense music in the background? If you said yes to any of these, get this game.

Serious Sam 3 is really, really unfocused, and as a result of trying to be ten different things at once never manages to do any one thing right. It combines all the worst parts of classic Doom clones, realistic gritty war games, and top down swarm shooters with none of the perks. The mazes in Serious Sam 3 are actually worse than in any other FPS I've ever played, and that's downright impressive considering the levels are supposed to be "real" locations rather than abstractions. It doesn't help that the enviroments are eye bleedingly dull and repetitive, there's barely any characterization or story, and you move at a snail's pace.

Serious Sam 3 is boring and unfun. God. I have no idea how this could get made and released as a commercial product. It's no Big Rigs, it's alright on all technical points I guess, but man. Multiple people signed off on this, as if part of an evil plot to inflict it upon an unsuspecting populace. If I was a fan of Croteam before my trust in their ability to deliver a good game would be cratered after playing this, and yet, I know there's no real malice. They just got too ambitious, or perhaps didn't really know what kind of game they wanted Serious Sam 3 to be in the first place. But regardless of if it was an accident or a malevolent conspiracy, the scars can't be undone. What a gnarly experience.

A brilliant and nostalgic return to one of the best (and first) old-school game series. Very remenicient of the other Serious sam games which gives it that nostalgic feel if you played the originals, mainly TFE, TSE and SS2. SS3 BFE features juiced up graphics, a better soundtrack and non stop witty puns and obscure references from the man Sam himself.

If you like the old school shooter games where you jump in, murder aliens and smile while you do it, this game was made for you.

Overall, it's casual not too serious (Very Serious) fun. you'll lose yourself in the chaotic struggle to kill before you're killed and the hours will pass by unlike any other game. 9/10

This game was fantastic. By far the best Serious Sam game out there. Loved it to pieces, and won't stop playing it, ever. Here are some key points if you're considering buying this:

Gameplay: As stated above, in my opinion, this game is superior to all previous Serious Sam titles, and I've played them all (HD remakes instead of classic TFE and TSE though.). The weapons were superbly made, animations and enemies, all well-done. Level design was well-thought-out (The last one will forever be one of my favourites for it's sheer epicness.).

Length: A bit short, actually. About the same length as The First Encounter. But it makes up for it with everything else.

Story: As far as story goes, I think this is the first Serious Sam to have one. Not that the others didn't have a story, this one just makes them look bland by comparison. A lone hero, struggling to achieve his goals, wading through literally hundreds of enemies at a time.

Replayability: Surprisingly replayable actually. And, if you use the workshop content available, you'll never run out of stuff to do, shoot, blow up, crush, shred, squish, or snipe.

Basically, buy this game if you're either a Serious Sam fan, or if you like the idea of taking on hordes and hordes of enemies and bloodily obliterating them with firepower equivalent to a one-man-army.

Gore, explosions, modding, chaotic 16 player co op, game editor, comedy, great story.
Never played this? then you should get this first before getting Serious Sam HD to understand the story a little bit.

worst game in the series.

list of things that make it terrible :

- urban environments; awful for a serious sam game
- sprinting
- reloading and aiming down sights
- incredibly slow pace in the first half of the game
- removal of iconic weapons such as double revolvers and tommy gun, and replacing them with a generic deagle and M4
- the colors hurt to look at; almost all of them are some dull shade of gray
- more hitscan enemies than the previous games, forcing you to take cover
- the game focuses on the story way too much and tries to cater to the mainstream FPS audience

trash game, only buy this on a -90% discount

not good, I bought this based on nostalgia for the original game many many years ago, perhaps it was rose tinted glasses but after just under 2 hours I uninstalled it.

Just didn't feel polished, or enjoyable and performance wise it just didnt feel great either considering I have what I feel to be a good rig
