About This Game

Serious Sam 3: BFE is a first-person action shooter, a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom.

Serving as a prequel to the original indie and Game of the Year sensation, Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam 3 takes place during the Earth’s final struggle against Mental’s invading legions of beasts and mercenaries.

Key Features

  • Frantic Arcade-Style Action – Hold down the trigger and lay waste to a never-ending onslaught of attackers or face being overrun by Mental’s savage beasts. No cover systems, no camping – it’s just you against them. All of them!
  • Fearsome Enemy Creatures – A new battalion of unforgettable minions including the rumbling Scrapjack and towering Khnum join the legendary Headless Kamikaze, Gnaar and Sirian Werebull to create the fiercest opposition you’ve ever had the pleasure of mowing down!
  • Spectacular Environments – Battle across the expansive battlefields of near-future Egypt bursting at the seams with total chaos. The shattered cities of tomorrow lined with the crumbling temples of an ancient world become your destructible playground!
  • Destructive Arsenal – Unleash Serious Sam’s arsenal of weapons including a scoped assault rifle, the double-barreled shotgun, the explosive automatic shotgun, the punishing minigun, and the almighty barrage of flaming cannonballs! Carry all of Sam’s weapons at once and switch between each gun on the fly for maximum firepower!
  • Brutal Melee Attacks – When the going get’s tough, the tough take matters into their own hands! Rip out the eye of a closing Gnaar, twist off the face of the hideous Scrapjack or snap the neck of an Arachnoid Hatchling for an instant kill!
  • Co-Op Multiplayer – Go to war against Mental’s horde with up to 16 players online and annihilate everything that moves across 12 single-player levels of mayhem in Standard Co-Op, Classic Co-Op, Coin-Op Co-Op, Beast Hunt and Team Beast Hunt mode.

Was fun, but not as fun as SSFE. And the boss part of the game was kind of weak. The guns were the same fun, but should have been more to collect (even though it was a prequel)

Not as good as second encounter but again, Serious Sam is supposed to be funny and it is. Map designs are awesome, graphics is awesome and difficulties are great. (You can t finnish some of the levels on hardest difficulty without other players - like it) awesome and funny meelee kills great weapons. I recommend this game but I think that the Second Encounter was the best Serious Sam ever.

Seriously hard, even on Normal difficulty.
People, if your framerate is dog excrement, de-activate Multi-Sampling Anti-Aliasing (MSAA) and set Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing to Ultra for the best framerate.

Uh oh, separate review for the workshop! Watch out, salty kid expressing his opinion!

The workshop of this game is full of anime and Undertale. Basically, Pyrocynical made a commentary with this game as footage and people got nuts over the game, and now cancerous addons are walking on the surface of the game's workshop and breaking it. Oh wait, the surface was already broke? Well, too late!

"When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth" -George A Romero

So I suggest you to not touch the workshop and play the vanilla.

This game has the worst checkpoint system I have ever come across. The developers are total and utter morons! The game also runs horribly and seems to have no SLI support. Avoid this game like the plague!

Here is good and bad about SS3 BFE:

The Good:
- Bloody, Gory , oldschool-FPS.
- Hard as Hell specialy on last two difficulties.
- Monster killing brings a lot of satisfaction and feels really great!
- Works perfectly with Steam Controller (fully completed the game on Normal with Steam Controller)
- Up to four players coop on single screen, LAN or Internet.

The Bad:
- Locations can be more colorful
- Weapons like Minigun has not much ammo trough the levels
- Not much sound effects, developer could make more sounds and better ambient.
- Game repeats itself from stage-to-stage.

The Ugly:
- ♥♥♥♥, I HATE the SOUNDTRACK in this game, mostly it 10 seconds loop that changes from stage to stage. Even during the HUGE BOSS fights, it is still 20 seconds deathmetal loop. ♥♥♥♥ guys, seriously could you make more HARD_CORE tunes in-game? Music is sooooo bad in this game.

Lack of music is a SERIOUS porblem, but anyway I recommend this game. Its fun to play with friends at home as well as online.

oook... so, today I started the game form the very beginnig with a friend of mine and we had a BLAST we were originally thinking about playing a few levels but we literrarly got addicted to it and FINISHED IT in one day it was exteremly hard extremely fun (especially with the bonus content dlc and the sniper scope for devastator which I recommend you to purchace ONLY on sale 9.99 is waaaaay too much for this extra weapon). I highly recommend you to buy it even for a full prize (yes it is THAT good)

Finally, the way I thought I had the most fun playing the game was finding secrects with hundreds of attempts for the parcour secrets and of course going achievement hunting not because I care about achievemets It's just the fact that to get an achievement you need to do some hillerious or wierd stuff. However for all you achievement hunters out there yes the game has some exteremely hard achievements

I give the game 8/10 because the game is too predictable and has a few bugs in it

thanks for actually taking the time to read my opinion over this game

I got it on sale. Ridiculous fun. Old school FPS with modern graphics. Normal and Hard mode is the sweet spot. Serious mode is a complete cluster****. Mad. Mad. Mad. If youre a mac user don't worry. Runs like a charm on my Imac. This is my Duke Nukem Forever.

Serious Sam 3: BFE

I'm a bit biased when I review these kinds of games, I will admit. I've wasted spent countless hours in school playing games such as Counter-Strike, Doom, Quake, Halo, and Serious Sam over LAN, and they've retained a soft spot in my heart as a result. I will try to look at this newest iteration of the Serious Sam franchise fairly, though.

Graphics
Serious Sam 3: BFE has received a fresh coat of paint, despite the fact that it still technically runs on the same engine as previous titles. On the whole, I feel positive about this game's visuals, though they're very far from being perfect. It stays true to the Serious Sam art style, and it looks decent enough at first glance. The two main issues are texture detail and the level decoration. The former is simple: Upon closer inspection, textures are lower resolution than I would like. The latter is a bit more complex. Because of how much the game sticks to its drab, somewhat limited Egyptian color palette, it isn't too difficult to get stuck somewhere in a level because you aren't sure where to go next. Despite this, the monsters look fleshy and it is quite satisfying to gib them back to 3000 BC.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=649035546

Audio
The weapon sounds aren't bad, but they won't stick with you as much as the classic weapon sounds in previous games. The enemies all have distinct growls and grovels, and they come to life very nicely when combined with the game's models. Voice acting is about what I expected: Mostly unimpressive, but the one-liners and voluminous vocabulary of John J. D𝗂ck still haven't grown old to me. Additionally, the soundtrack carries on the style of the original Serious Sam: TFE, and goes extremely well with the atmosphere of the game.

Performance
This game will perform well enough on most systems that meet the requirements; mine easily maxes it out and maintains a comfortable 60 FPS. The one place I really have to complement Croteam with this game is in the graphics options. Serious Sam 3: BFE has, quite possibly, the absolute most detailed graphics options I've seen yet in a video game; I am seriously impressed by how many settings there are.

Gameplay
Serious Sam 3: BFE is a classic first-person shooter that largely revolves around crowd control. It features smooth controls reminiscent of a Doom or Quake game, though this new one introduces a sprint feature which will violently accelerate your character up to the speed of classic Doomguy. The only weapon with a scope is the sniper rifle; while some others do have sights they do nothing besides look pretty and slightly zoom in the screen. Against the style of previous games, weapons other than the player's sidearm now need to be reloaded, but the sidearm retains its classic infinite pool of magazines. Weapons hit hard and fast, and you can carry all at once if you find them. Classic mechanics such as rocket jumping also work to a limited extent in Serious Sam 3: BFE. I found it enjoyable in singleplayer and co-op, but the adversarial multiplayer didn't show off gameplay quite as well.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=312754359

Singleplayer
The campaign follows Sam "Serious" Stone as he treks across Egypt in search of some fantastic MacGuffin that will solve all of his problems - and the current problem is the alien invasion that has nearly driven humanity to extinction. While there are cutscenes and other humans in-game, they never assist the player, and typically appear as corpses by the time Sam reaches them. Instead, the campaign finds itself initially playing out like a city-crawling corridor-shooter, but it soon dumps this in favor of classic Serious Sam arenas with massive hordes of enemies to whittle down and endure over. It's par for the course, and I liked it, but the story isn't anything special, so if you're looking for something like Bioshock or a Telltale Games adventure title, look elsewhere.

Multiplayer
This game features two multiplayer modes; adversarial and cooperative. I'll cover the former of those two first. It's hardly played at all now, and understandably so: the maps aren't designed particularly well, there isn't great incentive to keep playing, and it clearly wasn't even the focus of the game. The cooperative is where this game shines, however. It features a wide array of options for difficulty and supports 1-16 players, allowing them to play the entire campaign as well as custom maps. Playing alongside three or four other friends attempting to survive against hordes of alien mooks is perhaps the best way to experience Serious Sam, and it is some bloody good fun.

Community Content
Serious Sam 3: BFE features a built-in mod menu and decent support for modifications and community content, which raises the question of why there is such a lack of good community content. It is a sad fact that the modifications are largely retextured enemies with different statistics, weapon value modifications, or new cosmetic models for players and their weapons. There is some great potential for custom campaigns, but I haven't been able to find anything that truly takes advantage of that potential yet.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=647715582

Verdict
Without a doubt, Serious Sam 3: BFE is a cooperative-focused game. The campaign was designed about as well as previous ones - albeit with a fresh coat of paint and some better presentation - and despite its flaws, this is a good singleplayer/co-op title. The price of $39.99 hurts it a little, because it doesn't quite reach that value, but if you're a fan of classic arena shooters and you find it on sale, you might just find something really enjoyable with Serious Sam 3: BFE.

I would recommend Serious Sam 3: BFE, but would suggest waiting for a sale.

Serious Sam 3 BFE is seriously one of the best games of its genre and, in all seriousness, an example of how a perfectly built gameplay should be.

There is tons of action of course, with cazillions of enemies to battle, especially on the higher difficulty levels, but there is also a good deal of exploration and discovery, together with beautiful and atmospheric sceneries - the post-apocalyptic cities and towns are incredible.

You really need to try this game on the harder modes if only to see for yourself how the cleverly made environments, as long as you take advantage of them the best way, are actually your secret "allies" in fighting all those enemies that may seem, on first look, impossible to deal with. There are numerous easter eggs, bigger or smaller nods to many other games, and Sam's hilarious lines.

The game has many secrets to look for - some are very easy to find, others require some search. And of course there is the music, one of the most epic and majestic soundtracks you've ever listened, and in particular the masterpiece that is the final boss fight piece.

A fun fast paced action shooter that does a good job at making you feel like a bad ♥♥♥. A great addition to the series and no you do not need to play the other 2 games to enjoy this one. It doesn't take itself to seriously and at times even points fun at itself, and this has always be part of the Serious Sam Series charm. CO-OP plays well and is enjoyable. Keeps all the main enemies from the first game as well as adding some welcome additions(♥♥♥♥ you Demon monkeys). Level design is well done and the graphics are actually pretty damn good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
