So a couple of friends and I journeyed into playing this game in one night. Since I'm a complete idiot and didn't decide to read the entire description this is only half of the game. We beat the game in around four hours and did one more hour to play Deathmatch for whatever reason. The game was actually quite fun and even though we did it in one night I don't really regret purchasing this game. I recommend you trying out this game if you have some spare bucks to spend just keep in mind to have friends along with you to make the game just more enjoyable.

This remake has little differences to the gameplay from the original, except the fact that it has a new engine and better looking graphics. It still keeps it's same old fun and challenging factors while its difficulty can be quite frustrating to deal with most of the times when you decided to play on difficulties that are beyond Normal (I've beaten the whole campaign on the Hard difficulty), which can pretty much turn the game into a trial and error fest, so if you're new to this game, then I would suggest you play on Normal or Easy if you don't like going through any struggles of dying a lot. The weapons are pretty fun to use, but if you don't use them in the right situations, then you're going to have so much trouble since you'll be fighting a lot of hordes of enemies on-screen while using the best weapons against that type of horde in order for them not to get close to you or overwhelm you, and there are a few of enemies that you will hate fighting against. It can be a little boring if you fight the same enemies over and over again. Overall, the game is good while it is pretty fun.

I can't say that the game is worth getting again if you had the original version, but if you're a hardcore Serious Sam fan, then you should add this to your library. As for anyone else, get it if you like a very fun FPS game like this one.

I'm really tempted to put off writing this so I can hit that convienent "Play Now" button. I'll put it straight- Are you one of those folks who loves more traditional FPSes for all of their glorious superiorities over more modern ones? This is the game for you. No sprinting, no ironsights, no regenerating health, just you against waves of enemies with weapons that feel so good to shoot. Think how great it felt to use the shotgun in DooM, it's just like that.

You know what I also really love about this game? Serious Engine 3 lets me play this game on settings close to ultra with framerates consistently around 60 per second... on my laptop. To give you an idea of how impressive that is, here's my specs-

1366x768 60Hz PnP monitor
2.3GHz AMD Quad-Core A10-4600M APU (HP lies, it's actually maxed at 1.9GHz)
6GB DDR3 SDRAM
AMD Radeon HD 7640G with 3060MB total graphics memory

Typically this rig starts to choke when I play HL2 on ultra settings. I've seen rigs with worse specs than that play it with no problem. The point is that Serious Engine 3 is extremely efficent.

Now you can play an old-school-style FPS with beautiful graphics on your low-end machine. I wish I'd tried this out sooner. Looking forwards to buying SS3: BFE soon!

the game was great. but it had its problems.
i loved to run aound and facing of against hundreds of enemies at the same time. it's a fast game with no chil, you ran from one wave to the next.
i didn't like that there were so many similar flat and boring arenas in wich you had to fight similar waves over and over again. also, the last part of the game was (on normal mode) was ♥♥♥♥in hard, and on some parts it was impossible (either that or i just suck at this game)
i'll rate this game... 8 x"AAAAAHHH!" out of 10 possible "AAAAAHHH!"

This game is about getting the right tool for the job. Also, you gotta analyse enemy attack paterns and behaviours so you can come up with appropriate counter-attack techniques, combining the aforementioned when you encounter multiple types of enemies and quickly adapting to unpredictable, rapid changing circumstances.

This game will give you PTSD, I can still hear in my sleep the inhumane screams of the kamikazes. This is worse than Vietnam, I swear.

10/10 - one of the best classic FPS

This is not a modern-day type FPS. No realistic crap, no Call of Duty or Battlefield-type "take cover or die" realism. This is a BALLS-OUT bad@ss old school FPS. Did you like (the original) Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, and Duke Nukem 3D? If you answered yes to any of these: Buy ths game. Now.

Now to the uninformed, Serious Sam The First Encounter is a FPS bullet hell with swarms of enemies, no cover, but plenty of bombs. Just collect guns and shoot, shoot, shoot!!!! The physics are wonderful and the enemies look hideous and hilarious simultaneously. Plenty of blood and guts, many enemies, and a ton of weapons (I forgot how many, I'm sure the store page says).

And don't forget Sam Stone's comments. I think he was Duke Nukem's cousin. Maybe nephew. Maybe both.

A+ in my book. I'm a fan of old school bad@ssery, but if you're not, the game may not be for you. Go back to Call of Duty, sheep.
