About This Game

Super Meat Boy is a tough as nails platformer where you play as an animated cube of meat who's trying to save his girlfriend (who happens to be made of bandages) from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a tux.

Our meaty hero will leap from walls, over seas of buzz saws, through crumbling caves and pools of old needles. Sacrificing his own well being to save his damsel in distress. Super Meat Boy brings the old school difficulty of classic NES titles like Mega Man 2, Ghost and Goblins and Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Japanese one) and stream lines them down to the essential no BS straight forward twitch reflex platforming.

Ramping up in difficulty from hard to soul crushing SMB will drag Meat boy though haunted hospitals, salt factories and even hell itself. And if 300+ single player levels weren't enough SMB also throws in epic boss fights, a level editor and tons of unlock able secrets, warp zones and hidden characters.
  • Story mode, featuring over 300 levels spanning 5+ chapters
  • Play as a Head Crab! (Steam Exclusive)
  • 33 legitimate Achievements
  • Warp zones that will warp you into other games
  • Over 16 unlockable able and playable characters from popular indie titles such as, Minecraft, Bit.Trip, VVVVVV and Machinarium
  • Epic Boss fights
  • Full Level Editor and Level Portal (January 2011)
  • A story so moving you will cry yourself to sleep for the rest of your life

Super Meat Boy is a hardcore platformer that does everything right. Everything? Well, almost. The game crashes once in a while, and for me the audio crashes almost everytime I play it. The animations are outdated and the gameplay, even though it's mostly solid, can feel slipery sometimes. Also, you can't remap the controls on a keyboard. The game advertises how controllers are better and all. While this might be true for some games, this one has only TWO buttons! It wouldn't be that much of an issue to play with a keyboard if I could change the controls (that are by default shift for running and space for jumping), which is the bare minimum when you release a game on PC (I still beat it with a keyboard, yay me!).

Anyway, I'm a passionate platformer player, and apart from what I mentionned, I found this game highly enjoyable. The level design is amazing. It keeps reinventing itself by using the same components in new ways (something McMillen talked about in Indie Game: The Movie). The difficulty increases at a perfect rate. I thought it would be incredibly hard from the start, or soon enough, but no, it increases perfectly so that a veteran like me don't get bored, but that anyone can progress quite quickly to the third or fourth world.

It's refreshing to have a platformer that challenges me, and it makes it even more rewarding to finish it.

It's fun, but it makes you rage nearly every time when you die on a level.

but still it's a good game to play if you get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off with something in your life,
if you do then this is the game to play and rage at.

Super Meat Boy is a fast paced, very challenging platforming game.

It centers around meat boy who tries to rescue his girlfriend(band-aid girl), from his nemesis Dr. Fetus.

The music is great accompanying the levels, respawns are fast, and the games runs perfectly.

I recommend Super Meat Boy to fans of platformers ON or OFF sale.

No plot spoilers!

This game is a hardcore platformer, complete with all the speed Sonic wishes he had. Your goal is to beat the level, with the option of getting an A ranking by going fast, but unlike The Binding Of Isaac the difficulty makes sense, you either land on the spot or you don't. The only negative in this game, as of the second level, are the fans. They're very confusing and make getting good times or bandages random chance. Otherwise, this is a fun and difficult platforming with secret levels and unlockable characters and a lot of character, it's definitely worth the buy.
