"Solid 2D platformer with well designed levels and adorable art. High amount of content, including a level editor. Very difficult, but very gratifying."

About This Game

Super Meat Boy is a tough as nails platformer where you play as an animated cube of meat who's trying to save his girlfriend (who happens to be made of bandages) from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a tux.

Our meaty hero will leap from walls, over seas of buzz saws, through crumbling caves and pools of old needles. Sacrificing his own well being to save his damsel in distress. Super Meat Boy brings the old school difficulty of classic NES titles like Mega Man 2, Ghost and Goblins and Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Japanese one) and stream lines them down to the essential no BS straight forward twitch reflex platforming.

Ramping up in difficulty from hard to soul crushing SMB will drag Meat boy though haunted hospitals, salt factories and even hell itself. And if 300+ single player levels weren't enough SMB also throws in epic boss fights, a level editor and tons of unlock able secrets, warp zones and hidden characters.
  • Story mode, featuring over 300 levels spanning 5+ chapters
  • Play as a Head Crab! (Steam Exclusive)
  • 33 legitimate Achievements
  • Warp zones that will warp you into other games
  • Over 16 unlockable able and playable characters from popular indie titles such as, Minecraft, Bit.Trip, VVVVVV and Machinarium
  • Epic Boss fights
  • Full Level Editor and Level Portal (January 2011)
  • A story so moving you will cry yourself to sleep for the rest of your life

I played this game for a good hour, I grew frustrated easily and meaning to smash my fist down on the already dent desk surface, I smashed down on my scalding hot, cup of tea.

I think that pretty much explains what idiotic things this game can do to you, if you have a short temper.

For those of you who haven't played this yet, be warned. They're not kidding when they said this game was very hard! But aside from the high difficulty of this game, everything else is awesome. The soundtrack, the retro video games, the playable characters from other games, and I especially love the idea of the Dark World which clones all the main levels but made harder! If you are planning to buy this game, I suggest picking up the soundtrack too. What's an indie game without a zany soundtrack?

But let me tell you this one other thing: Practice makes perfect. With hours of practice and thousands of meat boys dying, you could negotiate the far reaches of the game and maybe even get the ironman achievements! I recommend this game because of the above-ness.

Super Meat Boy is the game that started the gamers obsession for brutal precision platformers. Is certainly one of the hardest games of all time, but is always fair and also extremely rewarding. It will test your patience, but when you finally pass a hard level you feel super satisfied! It's not a game for everyone and it seems almost impossible to 100% finish it, but I recommend to people who like to challenge themselves!

Great platformer, one of the best indies ever. You like platformers? You like challenge? The graphics are great (sweet indie), the story is funny (there is as much story as in Mario, but the cut-scenes between worlds may make you laugh), the gameplay is sooooo precise, smooth, and surgical (you fail? your fault), and finishing the WHOLE game with ALL the bandages, timers and all may reveal itself impossible for you, BUT attractive! I DO recommend this game.

Do you like platformers? Do you like rage? Do you like death? Well if so this game is for you!

Super Meat Boy adds comedic violence with a stragtegic placement of button presses. It is a charming game with lots of death related jokes, hilarious characters and a LOTS OF GORE! This game focuses on the amazing difficulty, you will find yourself wishing that "That one spike wasn't there" but it isn't hard enough to make you hate the very idea of clicking play. I would suggest Super Meat Boy to everyone I know and don't know! BUY IT!

I have about roughly 2 hours of having played this game, but many hours offline. This is a very fun indie game to be quite honest. The soundtrack is pretty much amazing and the graphics range from being retro to pixels that please the eyes. The gameplay is very original (jumping off walls ^^ I'd recommend a controller though unless you wanna bang your keyboard). The story mode and levels are pretty fun, ranging from different sceneries. I replayed this game a lot, at a time where I wasn't able to be online in steam.

This story of this game will be so moving that it will cry yourself to sleep for the rest of your life.

I'm only writing this review becuase I want to see if doing so will make my game recommendations better. That being said, this might be my favorite game of all time. Definitely top five. It's difficult as hell, but it's 100% fair and the controls are fantastic. The only game I've played that comes close to this in terms of tightness of control is Spelunky.
