"Solid 2D platformer with well designed levels and adorable art. High amount of content, including a level editor. Very difficult, but very gratifying."

About This Game

Super Meat Boy is a tough as nails platformer where you play as an animated cube of meat who's trying to save his girlfriend (who happens to be made of bandages) from an evil fetus in a jar wearing a tux.

Our meaty hero will leap from walls, over seas of buzz saws, through crumbling caves and pools of old needles. Sacrificing his own well being to save his damsel in distress. Super Meat Boy brings the old school difficulty of classic NES titles like Mega Man 2, Ghost and Goblins and Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Japanese one) and stream lines them down to the essential no BS straight forward twitch reflex platforming.

Ramping up in difficulty from hard to soul crushing SMB will drag Meat boy though haunted hospitals, salt factories and even hell itself. And if 300+ single player levels weren't enough SMB also throws in epic boss fights, a level editor and tons of unlock able secrets, warp zones and hidden characters.
  • Story mode, featuring over 300 levels spanning 5+ chapters
  • Play as a Head Crab! (Steam Exclusive)
  • 33 legitimate Achievements
  • Warp zones that will warp you into other games
  • Over 16 unlockable able and playable characters from popular indie titles such as, Minecraft, Bit.Trip, VVVVVV and Machinarium
  • Epic Boss fights
  • Full Level Editor and Level Portal (January 2011)
  • A story so moving you will cry yourself to sleep for the rest of your life

Things I learned from Super Meat Boy.
It is possible to love the one thing you truly hate.
There really is an art of dying.
My 360 controller flies further than my ps3 controller.
My neighbors can hear me through two brick walls at night.
My neighbors think Im a serial killer.
I might actually be a serial killer.

For those of you who haven't played this yet, be warned. They're not kidding when they said this game was very hard! But aside from the high difficulty of this game, everything else is awesome. The soundtrack, the retro video games, the playable characters from other games, and I especially love the idea of the Dark World which clones all the main levels but made harder! If you are planning to buy this game, I suggest picking up the soundtrack too. What's an indie game without a zany soundtrack?

But let me tell you this one other thing: Practice makes perfect. With hours of practice and thousands of meat boys dying, you could negotiate the far reaches of the game and maybe even get the ironman achievements! I recommend this game because of the above-ness.

One of the best platformers ever made. With very tight controls, clever level design and a great, unique art style, this is a game you have to play.

The indie scene continues to surprise us with cool ideas. Super Meat Boy is a smart, enormously extensive Jump & Run-of-pearl for genre fans.
The gameplay is reminiscent of platform games of the Super Mario: Meat Boy runs and bounces through (consciously in the reduced retro-style) 2D landscapes, dribbles past traps and enemies, and must in the end find each mission that his princess trapped in another castle is kept.

The highlight: The glaring red square head pulls a trail of blood behind him, which he uses to stick to walls for a short time and to slide along them, almost a bit like the Prince of Persia. Characterized Meat Boy reaches even distant platforms and hops around in a sophisticated way to circular saws, laser Lava beads or shells. This not only looks cool, but also creates a veritable maelstrom.

The creativity of the puzzle and dexterity elements can constantly surprise. As we rush in breakneck speed over collapsing platforms, put us on a crazy giant robot control enemy missiles targeted jumps on friable masonry or hop like in portal through dimensional gates. The controller is exemplary precision of the hand, especially with a game pad and analog stick. The digital keypad makes this last bit of accuracy, however, miss.

Often we had to try and have the same mission several dozens of times to guide Meat Boy to destination without traveling hacked to get mashed or crumbles. Despite the sometimes very difficult tasks but rarely comes to frustration. On the contrary: Those who fail at the final table saw for the 30th time trying it a 31 times to get louder then the more to be happy about his success. Nevertheless, we can Super Meat Boy Laying only players to the heart, which have strong nerves.
The motivation is slowed only by the dry, sparsely told storyline. Especially with the really hilarious slapstick scenes, the developers give away a lot of potential.

Rarely have I cursed playing so. But rarely my cheers were so loud. Yes, Super Meat Boy is very difficult. And yes, I have often asked myself, who will provide these missions ever. But my goodness, how motivating it is to jump! How much fun it is to fail again and again to try it again and finally succeed! The clever puzzle design packs from the beginning, and the cool retro style exudes so much charm that it would be enough for three games. Frustration Resistant genre fans should buy the game!

I played this game for a good hour, I grew frustrated easily and meaning to smash my fist down on the already dent desk surface, I smashed down on my scalding hot, cup of tea.

I think that pretty much explains what idiotic things this game can do to you, if you have a short temper.

Super Meat Boy is the game that started this new obsession for brutal precision platformers. Is certainly one of the hardest games of all time, but is always fair and also extremely rewarding. It will test your patience, but when you finally pass a hard level you feel super satisfied! It's not a game for everyone and it seems almost impossible to 100% finish it, but I recommend to people who like to challenge themselves!
