About This Game

Machinarium is award-winning independent adventure game developed by the makers of Samorost and Botanicula.

A little robot who’s been thrown out to the scrap yard behind the city must return and confront the Black Cap Brotherhood and save his robot-girl friend.
  • World: Machinarium world is populated only by robots of various forms and functions. One of the most interesting places in this world is old, rusty and legendary city of Machinarium where the game takes place
  • Story: You will have to get rid of wicked robots from the Black Cap Brotherhood and save the head of the city and also your robot-girl friend
  • Puzzles: You will be solving many logical puzzles, adventure quests, brain teasers and mini-games
  • Graphics: Backgrounds and characters are 2D hand-drawn and there is more then one hour of carefully crafted animations
  • Music: Beautiful original soundtrack was composed and recorded by Floex (Samorost2 OST)
  • Communication: You won't find any lengthy boring dialogs in this game, characters talk by comic bubbles with simple animations and symbols

Machinarium is a charming point-and-click adventure game about a robot trying to find his friend in a hand-drawn mechanical metropolis. The dialogue is minimal but the game still has an abundance of character. I'm not typically a fan of this genre but Machinarium just has such an enveopling atmosphere that its hard not to finish the game. I didn't find many of the puzzles too frustrating and there a book in game that will give you hints if you complete a minigame. If you're a fan of this genre or not I'd reccomend giving Machinarium a go.

Machinarium is a very well made puzzle game.
However, the gameplay itself and the puzzle difficulty is waaaaaay to extreme for beginners/a bit experienced puzzle gamers.
Most of the puzzles are not logical, and you will either have to play the little mini-game inside the game to unlock a hint, or look up a guide on the internet, because alot of these puzzles will literally break your head and poop down your neck.

The style of the game is very unique and very well drawn. I really liked it.
The characters are all weird, but I liked all of them too.
I haven't finished the game and I don't plan on finishing it. Why? Because it is waaaay too hard without a guide for me, and I am not a guy who likes looking up guides on the internet. I did it once, and they are SOOOO confusing because the things you have to do in this game in order to solve a puzzle is just... too much lol.

9/10 as a puzzle game, simply because it is probably one of the hardest and yet most rewarding puzzle games I've EVER played in my whole entire life!

7/10 as a game in general. It is definitely nothing for casual players or unexperienced puzzle players.

We have just completed Machinarium, my 4 year old daughter and me, and if a game can be considered a work of art then this could rightly claim to be one. Machinarium delivers on all accounts. An engrossing and satisfying puzzle and adventure. Its scenes richly detailed in equistite detail through its illustrative backgrounds and beautul rendering. Robot characters that have more soul and character than robots have any right to possess. Its games within games that challenge and could be considered orginal in themselves. And a soundtrack that pulls everything together, part ambient electronica, part sound effects, part Radiohead - genius.

This game is fun, challenging, and completely worth your time. It is amazingly beautiful and the music will put you in a state of mind that is calming and happy. I recommend getting it for your steam account and on your tablet. It is replayable on a bad day when you are bored and haven't played in a few months.

The graphics already speak for themselves, they're pretty great.
The puzzles are mostly fair while being challenging. I can only remember one puzzle that I had to look up because it was too ridiculous.
The length is short, but all that is needed.

This reminded me so much of the Samorost games in so many ways. Amanita has a very distinct take on point-and-click, and their art is always so precious.

There are in-game hints, accessed by playing a little minigame. I really didn't want to use them, but there were more than a couple times where I genuinely had no idea what my next step should be at all. That said, once the hints did their job, I still felt like I had to do my own thinking more often than not--it was not an outright spoiler, which was very nice.

A wonderful point and click adventure game. The artwork and music are both fantastic, the story is compelling, the humour is brilliant, and it being told entirely pictorially is really nice. The one downside, as others have noted, is the abrupt and unsatisying ending. Overall, though, this is a truly great game, which I would definitely reccomend.

Nice art design of steam punk style. There are several mini games which need you to think thoroughly. The logic of the puzzles in this game are more precise than Botanicula, which is made by same studio. Anyway, any game made by this studio is a must have due to the excellent music and illustrations, and you just have to sit, relax, move your mouse, and click.

Beautifully drawn, but clearly insufficiently playtested. Some of the puzzles rely on visually finding the equivalent of a needle in a haystack. The character you control moves agnoizingly slowly at times, which decimates the game's playability.

If only the authors had been as skilled at desigining user experience as they are at visual art, this game would be spectacular,.

Oh, and if you buy the soundtrack DLC, you only get lossy MP3 files. No FLAC to burn on a CD for full CD quality, as you would get with other games.

the mini puzzle games ruined the experience for me. they're just too hard, frustrating, and not fun. even worse is that i felt like they were half the game. everything else was pretty good though, but i just can't recommend it due to the flow of the traditional point and click sections being disrupted by the mini puzzle games.

This, has to be the most compelling story I've ever played through in a game. One of the best, most charmingly clever, point & click titles I've ever played, a masterpiece of a game. The rustic hand drawn graphics are genuinely exquisite and really help disguise the click areas of this game. Features a really touching twisted fate mecha-folkstory, of a young robot living in a steam-punk dystopian wasteland, trying to save an enslaved princess robot. The only dialog between the characters are small animated scenes inside thought bubbles, which I think is a cool way to help tell a story without literal or verbal ques. The music is beautiful, very original and thought provoking, it really helped set the tone. You'll come across the occasional puzzle here and there and they're are some tough ones, but none are too frustrating. Unlike many titles in this genre, Machinarium consistently had me at an "aHa!" moment, great game 10/10
