It's time to save Grandma from the clutches of evil. This follows the typical greatness that Artifex Mundi offers in all of its hidden object games. The graphics are great, the storyline is unnecessary, the voice acting is mediocre, but the fun of the puzzles and hidden object games are great. This game was short and fairly easy. I found the hidden object scenes weren't as typical as you would expect, while some were tough. The atypical HOS were find an object, place it where it fits, which gives you another object and then find where that goes, and so on and so forth. It was a good break from the typical HOS, but felt too easy. The puzzles were good, but nothing extravagant that made it too difficult to move forward. As usual easy achievements for those hunters out there. Definitely recommend it if you love these types of games.

I love the fantasy figures. The story i think is not so good as the fantasy figures self. When i look at the figures and how the game looks i expected more of the story it self. But so as i sad previously i love the fantasy figures so that't making a lot (for me) good. One thing i very much don't like: for the achievemenst to get al cards, there is one card that you don't get anymore after you went through the labyrinth. So you have one opportunity to get it and you go really fast past it without noticed it. You have to play the game again to get it.

OK, I must confess I just love that little HOPA games from Artifex Mundi. If you're looking for chilling, point&click adventure, Eventide: Slavic Fable is good choice. If you've played AM games, you know what to expect - incredible HDR-like graphics (just look on the screenshots), pleasant music, simple story and easy mechanics. A distinctive element of this particular game is the main theme - Slavic tales, however I expected something a bit deeper and less infantile.

As per usual, Artifex Mundi put out another high quality hidden object game. Game takes about 2 hours or so.

Graphically its not bad. Animations arent that great, but the backgrounds and still shots are beautiful (as you can see from the store page screenshots). Audio was pretty good. Music got a little old after awhile, but the sound effects were nice. Voice acting was better than Im used to from a hidden object game, which was a nice surprise.

Puzzles were your standard issue hidden object game puzzles. None of them were overly difficult, and if youve played other hidden object games, then youll recognize some repeated puzzle styles.

Where this game really shined for me, was the story. Slavic folklore is a pretty interesting topic for a story (in my opinion anyway), and I felt they did a pretty good job incorporating it into a lighter-hearted video game. Without spoiling too much, the game had a cool side achievement for collecting these lore cards that were pretty cool reads if you wanted even more insight into the creatures in the lore, as well as some of the characters you meet. That said, the story still follows the "person gets kidnapped, you must rescue said person" plot line that crops up pretty often in these. May or may not be a deal breaker for some if theyre looking for something new.

The only bugs I found were when I was doing a speed playthrough to complete an achievement I missed. If I cleared an area too quickly (picked up all the objects rapidly), the game wouldnt recognize that it was cleared and would let me keep opening that spot. Example off the top of my head being the crawfish cage and the toolbox in the boat house. When I played normally (and not spam clicking through), the game was perfect.

Overall, the puzzles were a bit same-y, but if youre into fantasy or folklore at all, the story was more than interesting enough to give this a big recommendation.

Just started to play hidden object games and this is my 4th game. With great graphics and 3D models, rich of collective items and really not so hard to get all of them without any tips. Even like me not very good at puzzle game, the main story can be played without using any hints. (the Casual difficulty) There are total 23 mini games, they will obviously take some time to solve but it is a big fun to play with. Also, the main purpose is clear and story runs smooth. I love those 30 cards which introduce 30 kinds of the mysterious creatures. Especially the sub chara is very adorable, good to see such character appears in game.

The additional story is a nice epsiode for player to enjoy the fern flower story in another character's view. I hope to play another game produced by Artifex Mundi, maybe Nightmares from the Deep will be my next choice ;)

A charming little casual point-and-click adventure, with pleasant music and at times delightful graphics. Though the story is quite thin, it still manages to provide some character and a distinct Slavic fairytale flair.

Note that it's especially casual: the game is quite short, even when including the bonus chapter, and the puzzles are all very easy. Also, there are only a handful of hidden-object scenes, so it's not exactly a hidden-object game.

Finally, thank you, devs, for supporting Linux!

Artifex Mundi is a guarantee for a good quality hidden object game as always.
It is a fantasy story with colorful nice backgrounds and catchy music. Also i have to notice the variety of the puzzles which are amazing. If you like the hidden object /puzzle games then I think it is a very good buy for 4 bucks (special promotion price). Here is the first 10 minutes, I think it will help you decide if you are thinking on to buy it.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hXiV39XRbY

Short version: 82%
Eventide is a typical craftsmen work of a hidden object game. It uses well-known mechanics and story type (granddaughter saving grandma and cute creatures from evil demon), but it knows how to use them well.

Long version:
One of the banes of hidden object games is that they all can feel relatively the same. For example, if you think about a typical modern HOG with all of the usual HOG elements, you think about a game like Eventide: Slavic Fable.

Not that it’s a bad thing; Eventide knows its trade well. With its great graphics and enjoyable hidden/fragmented object scenes, there isn’t much that can be said against it. Well, okay, the map system is barely useful and it really needs more puzzles over the point ‘n’ click style item management.

The story also likes to stay on known waters: our heroine has to go on a journey to save her grandmother from the clutches of an evil Slavic half-demon, and to do so, she gets help from other Slavic creatures. By the way, the game really wants to remind everyone that it is about Slavic folklore. Maybe a little too much…

Beautiful color palette of earthy autumn tones to match an equally earthy game. Slavic mythology centers around the hearth, the home, and the natural world. This game does that extemely well in presentation, storyline and the creatures used, and is family friendly in theme.

Storyline: Dr. Mary Gilbert, botantist and saviour of endangered moss in Maple Creek (Maple Creek - omage to Enigmatis) has received a letter from her grandmother referred to as Baba (Yaga Baba reference) urgently requesting her help to save a rare and endangered plant in the Slavic Park, an educational outdoor museum centered around Slavic mythological creatures. Upon arriving Mary is attacked by a creature and her car is shoved off a cliff. Escaping the car begins the quest adventure of saving her soon to be kidnapped grandmother, meeting the mythology creatures who have taken refuge in the park, healing the rare and magical plant, and ultimately defeating the villian in an apropos way.

Gameplay: This game is more point and click then hidden object but plays as a combination of both. There are basically three main areas of the game, the Slavic Park, the abandoned village and the castle with side quests into other areas. There is a fast travel map but the player can not return to the Slavic Park once they cross the lake to the abandoned village. So make sure all the extras finds (notes, etc and bestiary cards) are found before crossing the lake.

Hidden Object: The Hidden Object scenes are mostly fragmented HOs (find the pictured pieces to create a single object), find "X" amount of objects, and near the end of the game are list HO finds. The list HOs have "ghost" puzzle pieces beneath them that the player clicks on to complete the 'extra' puzzle and the HO scene.

Puzzles: Nothing overly challenging and a variety of basic fun fare. Sliders, pipe puzzle, picture puzzles, codes, telescope challenge, and a maze.

There are three extra find challenges in this game:
1) 30 bright pink purplish flowers that are very hard to miss.
2) Finding all the notes, posters, pictures, diplomas, signs, etc in the main game. Note: I am unsure exactly which ones are used to gain the achievement Bookworm, so do not be shy click on everything. Some are missable so click on notes, papers, etc first before any 'quest' object.
3) Collecting the bestiary cards scattered throughout the main game. Note: some are missable such as the one at the end of the maze since if not taken at the time the player can not return to get it later. These cards can be accessed during gameplay and the player can read about 30 different slavic mythological creatures. I do believe the cards must be read to gain the achievement associated with them.

Achievements: Most are gained through gameplay alone and all achievements can be earned in a single playthrough.

Fun game for the expert and beginner alike with three game modes to choose from. If playing on expert mode the first time through here's a hint: The list HO finds are found in the third part of the game (the castle and surrounding areas) these can be easy to miss so make sure to click on the background areas and places you have been before to find them.

Well worth full price for an easy romp through slavic mythology.

Your grandmother needs your help to save a rare flower but you're attacked by a mythic creature. Unfortunately for you, this same creature kidnaps your grandmother and the friendly man that helped you betrayed you. Your only chance is to reach his castle in this park where slavic fables are honored....

Eventide: Slavic Fable is a nice story with elements from slavic fables: everyone around, apart for your Baba, is in reality part of the slavic folklore. Given the fact that you can collect cards about each creature in this culture, you can also learn about it.

The gameplay is quite common, though the hidden objects scenes are diversified: from rebuilding an object thanks to a list of pictures to a list of items to find, as they're hiding parts of a puzzle. The puzzles are also well-balanced and kinda easy when you're used to them. Even if the game isn't developed by Artifex Mundi, the gameplay is quite similar to their own games.

The ambiance is a surreal one and a nice one, even if the game is set during the night, in a dark forest but it's not the creepy type. The only thing that is weird is the grandmother's head: I don't know how to describe it but I think it's not as well done as the others.

The soundtrack is also correct and fitting to the story.

The bonus chapter seems to be out of the blue, however, you understand quickly that it's set in the past and that you'll meet again some characters. The bonus are also nice: minigames, soundtrack, etc...

Anyway, Eventide: Slavic Fable is a nice way to learn about slavic bestiary and belief. It's also a good game published by Artifex Mundi and almost as the same quality of their own games. As usual, don't hesitate!

The first Steam game from developer The House Of Fables and it has nearly Artifex Mundi Quality. The story is good-great like the enemy. The graphics are good, most time very detailed, some persons could could drawn a little bit better, but its good enough, the most picturs are well-fantastic designed (for hidden object games standard), the search screens make fun, some are really beautiful like the glass one. Sound is good. Game length is adequate. A nice extra for me are the 30 cards you can collect, they tell in the achievement menue about fairy tail entity, a really interesting little bonus. So for HO Games Lovers (hardcore fans of this genre) i give this game about 89 % (93 % myself because its the first Steam Game), for normal fans and/ or normal gamers 77-70 %, for people that dont like Hidden Object G. dont play it ;) Thank you for reading. Hopefully enjoy. P. S. i cant await Eventide 2
