What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“KartKraft is the racing game that as gamers and racing drivers, we’ve always wanted to play. Hugely ambitious and free from the restrictions of what the genre ‘should’ be, we want you, whether you’re a die-hard racing game fan, a hardcore sim racer or a casual gamer, to join and assist us in making KartKraft the most progressive, intense, and immersive racing experience on the PC. Early Access lets us build and expand upon the core game, with the features and content you want to see.

With the most challenging parts of development complete, we'll be focusing on optimisation, bug fixing, and polishing the existing gameplay, whilst introducing planned, experimental and suggested features through rapid iteration and community feedback via our fortnightly opt-in Steam Beta branch.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We anticipate the full release of KartKraft to occur later this year, coinciding with the release of KartKraft on consoles.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Whilst KartKraft's full feature set and development roadmap will be determined by all of the KartKraft community, our initial focus will be on adding the following features:

  • Online Multiplayer
  • Bandit Mode
  • Additional Tracks, Karts, Engines
  • Steam Workshop Support
  • In-Game Kart/Helmet/Suit Painter
  • League Support
  • Replays
  • Tyre Wear/Heating
  • Triple Screen Support
  • Performance Optimisations

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The launch version of KartKraft Early Access has the following features:

  • 16 officially licensed kart chassis: Arrow, CRG, Deadly, Formula K, Monaco, OK1, Praga and Sodi Kart
  • 4 kart classes: 45hp KZ2, 32hp X30, 22hp KA100, 13hp KA100 Restricted
  • 4 laser scanned tracks: PFi, England | Geelong, Australia | Melbourne, Australia | Indoor Warehouse, Utah
  • Chapter 1 of Career Mode
  • Full driver and kart customisation with officially licensed gear: Alpinestars, Arai, Freem, Mir, Momo, OMP, Sparco
  • Asynchronous PvP Challenges
  • Time Trials

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“KartKraft will be priced lower through Early Access, relative to the full version release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want you to be a part of the KartKraft development team. Our dedicated community managers alongside our developers, will be listening, responding and noting down what you have to say in our forums, emails, social channels, Reddit, and the Steam discussion boards.

These feature requests and gameplay ideas will be made public on our roadmap for you to vote on what you next want to see in KartKraft as a community. Whether that's a new class of racing, a new online gamemode, a new burnout challenge, or support for a new hardware peripheral; you as the KartKraft community, get to decide.

Once the features have been voted on each month, you will have access to the fortnightly opt-in Steam Beta branch builds to test and give feedback on the new features and content before the builds are promoted to the public KartKraft release.

This is where you really get to make a difference. Tell us what you like, what could be improved, what bugs you are experiencing or even that idea you have for an awesome new feature. You decide what KartKraft becomes.”

ANNOUNCING CLOSED BETA!

Whilst we originally scheduled KartKraft for a Q1 2016 Early Access release date, we really feel it’s necessary to run more thorough testing to ensure KartKraft exceeds your expectations at launch – we only get one release date and want to make it count! So before we launch the game on June 4, 2016, we’re going to run a limited slot closed Beta for KartKraft. We want to know what you think of the physics. We want to know how you find the Force Feedback. We want to know how we can make the AI even more convincing.

Starting next week, we’ll be giving you the opportunity to provide your expert feedback, as well as identifying any glitches, hitches and crashes. If you miss out on the first round of testing, don’t worry; we’ll be sending out further waves of invitations in the coming weeks.

So race over to the KartKraft beta website below to register your interest before everyone else. We can’t wait to get you on the track and hear your feedback!
