About This Game

In Supreme Commander 2, players will experience brutal battles on a massive scale! Players will wage war by creating enormous customizable armies and experimental war machines that can change the balance of power at any given moment. Take the role of one of the three enigmatic commanders, each representing a unique faction with a rich story that brings a new level of emotional connection to the RTS genre, or fight the battle online. Where do your loyalties lie?
  • A deep and powerful story - element adds a personal, human aspect to a storyline previously focused on warring factions and the politics that fuel them. The single player campaign features three character-driven storylines set 25 years after the events of Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
  • Command enormous armies made up of customizable land, air and naval units. Each of the three diverse factions – The United Earth Federation (UEF), the Cybran Nation and the Illuminate – have been completely redesigned from the original game, with many units.
  • Experimental units - returning with new designs and greatly enhanced looks….and some new tricks that can be unlocked through research
  • New Supreme Commander Gameplay Experience - players now have the ability to research new technologies and units and deploy them instantly on the battlefield, allowing them to upgrade a base-level tank to a high-powered, multi-barreled, AA-sporting monster by the end of a given game.
  • Strategic Mode UI - the redesigned UI that is faster, takes up less screen real-estate and gives better player feedback
  • New rendering technology that allows us to create visually spectacular environments

Its a really fun strategy game, a lot more fun when played with friends though. A piece of advice though, get the DLC with it, it makes the game alot better.

Mmm... it's alright I guess.

RTS gamey that... well, its functional, but I was not particularly interested in what was going on. It certainly didn't take much actual strategy (typical for the genre, actually), since my approach to every mission in the campaign could basically be summed up as "Dig in, build an overwhelming resource advantage, then just bulldoze everything in my way." Aside from one mission where holding what I had was the very objective, that approach was basically what I did for the entire game.

Mmm... I guess it's not a bad game. The units were pretty neat and I did have to make a variety of them to be able to deal with anything I came across. But if this review sounds uninspired, then that's intentional because I'm about as interested in writing it as I am in the game itself.

So if you like RTS games.... yeah sure. I guess have fun with it. Bwee. :o

Some say it's not as good as Supreme Commander (1) or Forged Alliance, and I think I'd agree with them. However, Supreme Commander 2 is still an awesome RTS which lately seem to be fewer and further between...

If however you thought SC1 / FA had too much micro-management (with units AND resources), you'll probably enjoy SC2 more!

I'm really not sure whether I can recommend this game or not. I first got this when it first came out and frankly, I was severly disappointed. It is a complete downgrade from supcom/FA. While I feel it is a good RTS on it's own, knowing what it came from is almost disgustng. If you want a basic RTS that won't require much planning then SupCom2 is your game. If you want an RTS that is massive in scale and requires actual strategy then I highly recommend you get SupCom/FA.

Firstly I would like to say that this game is not all that bad when compared to the other RTS games out there at the moment, however for the fans of Sup Com and Forged Alliance this game is a great dissapointment. There are a great many changes and the entire game feels rushed and less smooth than the previous two, here are a few reasons why.

The complex tech trees: Gone. You now start with one tier of unit and minimal choices. Some people prefer this over higher tier units smashing the lower tiers but its simply a lazy option taken instead of actually balancing the different tiers.

The choices between different commander upgrades: Gone. Research will give you all the upgrades there is no choice involved.

The fine balance between extracters and power and the need to control enough deposits: Gone. Pump out those generic one tier generators and you will recieve far more mass from them than deposits. There is nothing to be gained by pushing out to control a majority of the map simply turtle it out behind your shields (we'll get to those in a moment) and stock up on units/arty/nukes

The careful construction of defences and shields for maximum overlap protection: Gone. Spam those shields as close as possible and you can hold off the world. There are some small differences between the different races shields but they all can still all build as many as they want without even thinking about an efficent base design.

The unique racial differences and strengths and weaknesses: Gone. First designer "hey guys are we going to make the units and structures have different statistics like the first game and have counter intelligence options for complex game strategy?" Design lead "nah screw that it sounds complicated, make all the shields and other structures have identical stats and get rid of the other stuff". Very dissapointing since the units from the first game were so unique but now there is no difference in choosing one faction from another.

The detailed textures and environments that made it a great looking game: Gone. Its extremely unusual for a series to have a large gap between a game and its sequal and to not improve the graphical quality, this bucks the trend and goes backwards.

Well organised unit co-ordination, grouping and movement: Gone. Walking into each other, spinning on one spot trying to collect something right beneath themselves and refusing to move are now the norms.

There are more but to be honest I've got to go purge this game from my memory by playing Forged Alliance so this will have to do.

It's not uncommon for a sequal to be overshadowed by the original game, such is the case here. Don't get me wrong, it's a good RTS and worth playing... but you are probably better off sticking with the original. It has lost it's epic scale. 4/5

Uninstalled. Deleted from library. Didnt ask for a refund as the money is now tainted. Just blech blah blaaaaaarf.

This is not even the same game. Played the other 3 versions and I am looking at the units .... everything is unrecognizable.

If only I had read the reviews lol. Or played the demo.

Do yourself a favor and play the demo before purchacing. If you are a fan of the other versions this one will disappoint.

I bought this game on sale a while back because I had fun memories of Supreme Commander 1.

The game feels lackluster compared to Supreme Commander 1. The building system is pretty linear and lack luster and it feels like there's a lack in unit option. In order to build better units they implemented a research system, it's a resource that generates overtime and you can increase the resource generation by building more research stations.

What makes the game incredibly unfun is that it feels like you need to commit to one type of army because of the research system. If you build a land army and commit your research on it but later on you want to add an air army into the mix the air army will be incredibly weak making your overall army weaker.

I bought this for the campaign. In the campaign, the naval army isn't always available to be built in most of the campaign, it's specially important for the Cybrans because their naval army has a research that allows them to walk on land and the ships are pretty overpowered compared to land units. The game only comes with 18 missions, 6 missions per race and all the missions aren't difficult.

The skirmish felt much better in SC1. I enjoyed skirmishes turtling it out against hordes of insane AI armies marching in the door. What makes this less appealing is that only the UEF has a tier 2 defense, plus there aren't any walls you can build.

Overall the game is best defined as meh. If your interested in checking out this RTS, you should buy Supreme Commander 2 first then buy Supreme Commander 1 and Forged Alliance so that you will feel like the gameplay was improved.

This game is a butchered watered down version of Forged Alliance that was ruined becouse of consoles.
The only reason I recommend this game becouse of the RVE Revamp mod which basically turns it into Forged Alliance with a few elements from this game and updated graphics.

I recommend you to check out the mod and support it becouse it's unbelieveably great. Otherwise this game is not nearly as good as Forged Alliance.
