About This Game

In Supreme Commander 2, players will experience brutal battles on a massive scale! Players will wage war by creating enormous customizable armies and experimental war machines that can change the balance of power at any given moment. Take the role of one of the three enigmatic commanders, each representing a unique faction with a rich story that brings a new level of emotional connection to the RTS genre, or fight the battle online. Where do your loyalties lie?
  • A deep and powerful story - element adds a personal, human aspect to a storyline previously focused on warring factions and the politics that fuel them. The single player campaign features three character-driven storylines set 25 years after the events of Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
  • Command enormous armies made up of customizable land, air and naval units. Each of the three diverse factions – The United Earth Federation (UEF), the Cybran Nation and the Illuminate – have been completely redesigned from the original game, with many units.
  • Experimental units - returning with new designs and greatly enhanced looks….and some new tricks that can be unlocked through research
  • New Supreme Commander Gameplay Experience - players now have the ability to research new technologies and units and deploy them instantly on the battlefield, allowing them to upgrade a base-level tank to a high-powered, multi-barreled, AA-sporting monster by the end of a given game.
  • Strategic Mode UI - the redesigned UI that is faster, takes up less screen real-estate and gives better player feedback
  • New rendering technology that allows us to create visually spectacular environments

This game is decent. Although the original is better and larger scale, this game is still pretty big and ffun to play. Definite recommendation if you liked the original or RTS in general.

Compared to SC Forged Alliance, I would say this game is actually a minor downgrade content wise. It may have less units, quicker games and easier mechanics, but thats what makes it special from the other SC. The games are much shorter and more relaxed on the SC compared to the other one and is a bit quicker paced. Its much less complex and a good way to burn a few minutes if necessary. If you have about 30 minutes but cant make up your mind on what to play, this game fits perfectly in there. Another thing htis game has for it is it's much more fleshed out. The AI of your units is better and more easy to manage, The animation quality is a bit nicer and the unit navigation is greatly improved. All together its just a more simplified, casual, and relaxing version of the game before it.

P.S. If you battle real people you will have a Spicy time......

Don't buy this game. If you want a good game buy Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, its a much better game. Supreme Commander 2 or 'Soup Commander' as I like to call it is terrible.

I played this game for 25.5hrs (based on steams account not strait of course) I have never gone back to it and have since uninstalled it, on the other hind I still play Forged Alliance with and without mods.

Forged Alliance has deep characters, plot and with battles covering huge stretchs of land, the largest of these being 81kmx81km. Soup Commander dumbs now and shrinks everything plot, characters and the battlefield.

In Forged Alliance, there are three factions fighting for galactic dominance. First the UEF professional soldiers of a corrupt government. Second Aeon have advanced technology while trying to spread their beliefs at the barrel of a gun. Third the Cybran Nation a splinterd orgainization lead primarily by a 1000 your old scientist who is trying free those enslaved by the UEF while having inferior numbers.

Then there is the Soup Commander (this game here your looking at). It has three factions fighting for planetary dominance. First the UEF power tripping football players who violate rules like it a requirement of day to day life. Second Aeon religious idiots fighting against none Aeon society as it is oppressive all while infighting. Third the Cybran Nation a megalomaniac mad sicentist lead terrorist group that fights amongst its self as much as it does others.

As you can see they don't even seem related, aside from the names of the faction and game. so Again if you want a good game buy Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance don't get this one.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME

If you have two or more monitors, you simple MUST try this game, since this is one of the very few strategy games that makes full use of multi-monitor environments, by letting you watch and control the situation in different areas of the battlefield on each monitor.

This is a unique experience I haven't seen anywhere else.

That said: gameplay is fun either way. It plays similar to Total Annihilation. The armies are enormous and there is always something going on somewhere in the map.

Singleplayer has 3 campaigns with intersecting storylines. Giant units and an interesting story. Except for 1 mission in 1 campaign, that ended up feeling like a misguided attempt on tower defense (yes, I'm looking at you UEF! Shame!), the (other) missions are compelling and keep you invested in the story.

For Multiplayer, balancing is not perfect. UEF is a little weak, Cybran is a little heavy on the artillery. Which means that multiplayer isn't ideal, even though it gets the job done.

Overall: not perfect, but decent. And the multi-monitor support is just THE killer feature.

Coming from a person who just started getting into RTS games, Sup Com 2 is probably the best starting ground for the genre, while many reviews take hits on the lack of depth in comparison to the other RTS games, it still is definetly a must buy for anyone wanting to get into RTS games

One of the most significant RTS for all Sci-Fi strategists out there. Stable gameplay, variety of race and units to take to battle, and skirmishes with AI can help practice different tactics and strategies. Great replayability value. Must have for RTS gamers.

Some say it's not as good as Supreme Commander (1) or Forged Alliance, and I think I'd agree with them. However, Supreme Commander 2 is still an awesome RTS which lately seem to be fewer and further between...

If however you thought SC1 / FA had too much micro-management (with units AND resources), you'll probably enjoy SC2 more!

50 mins in

only titans rule the battlefield, shaking the very earth with their metallic feet
the sea is ruled by battleships, roaming in packs, firing on anything that moves
they had already destroyed my closest ally in the north from constant gun fire and missile barrages
our bases are surrounded by shields that deflect the constant barrage coming from the enemy bases
we would return in all in kind, with long range artillery
my nuke silos sit full, waiting for the push of a button
to end this war, that seems to never end

but then i got blown up by 5 giant metal robots with crowns on their heads and cannons for arms

This game is like dating a girl and finding out her older sister is way hotter.

In short: the game sucks compared to Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance.
