About This Game

What? You need a review to buy PORTAL? Well if you relly insist.
I bought poral afew years before this for the ps3, and going into portal 1 with my knologe of its predecessor, i found the visuals to be alright. They arent exactly the most mind bowing thing on the plannet, but the graphics are offset by the game play. I could list the many reasons why i love this game, but instead you could probubly just use the time it takes to read this to buy the game.

I first played and beat portal when I purchased the orange box for xbox when it first came out. Having played through it again on steam, I have to say, this game is incredibly fun, unique, and intriguing. I cannot hype it enough, though I doubt I'll have to considering its popularity. The only thing that could be constued as a negative of this game, given when it was released and the available hardware and software of the time, would be that it is incredibly short. That aside this game is an awesome puzzle game and I would reccomend this to anyone who has even the slightest interest in any sort of video games.

+Legendary
+A must play given it's place in the history of popular culture
+Very Fun
+Unique and inovative
+Low entry-level: great for gamers of all varieties
-Really short

Overall I'd give this game:

9.0/10.0

A Must Play for any PC gamer
Honestly if you haven't tried this yet you have missed out on (Excluding the sequel) the best puzzle based story driven game of the decade. I picked it up on the orange box while it was on sale and you should too. The companion cube never leaves me. In many ways this game is like an essay on carpets, short, but if you stretched it out too long it would be terrible.

+Great level design
+Great story
+Cake

-Short

It's a short game, yeah. But wow is it a fun one. It is a truly innovative platforming experience. Buy it during a Steam sale, and you will not regret it. If you can't wait, it's worth it at full price, too.

+ simple, but interesting mechanics
+ writing and humor
+ aesthetics
+ challenging bonus chambers

- main chambers are quite simple and can be completed quite fast
- a few frustrating moments requiring precision

your classic use-colorful-quantum-portals-to-fight-a-mastermind-robot-antagonist game.

I got Portal during one of Valve's promotions where they gave it out for free to all Steam users permanently for their libraries. I finished it years and years ago on my brother's computer, when Steam was still a new thing and we shared a library. Definitely worth the playthrough.

Who wouldn't want to support a company like Valve? You wouldn't! Get Portal and love Valve even more. Then get Portal 2, play that, and so on and so on.

I enjoy puzzle games, so I bought Portal expecting some puzzles, and that's exactly what i got. It really makes you think, and challenges your brain to solve complicated problems. There's 19 main levels, a long escape level, and an ending boss fight. It only takes a few hours to complete, but it's worth your money. The game isn't just a puzzle game, though. It has an interesting storyline, too. The ending of the game makes you wonder, "Well, what happens next?" I bought both Portal and Portal 2 in a bundle, expecting that I would want to play the second game too, and I was right! Lots of people play only Portal 2 and not Portal, but I would highly reccomend playing Portal before even opening Portal 2. Fantastic game!

The cake is not a lie, Gabe N. ate it. It is Known. Other than that it's a cool game filled with puzzles that you solve by using a portal gun and some cubes.
First, you will be baked, and then there will be cake.

...

This game is very well made and I think Valve has done a great job porting Nubecular Drop to the source engine, as well as making a whole different game with a complex storyline and unique characters. They've also benifited from it well. 5/5

Portal is a funny game. it gives you the knowladge that graphics isn't everything. The game tells an interesting story; a very good one at that, and the gamepllay is brilliant. Maybe, at times, not the most fast story, but he eerie hints at what is going on behind youre back, the graffiti that- Oh wait. Spoiler alert.

Anyway, Portal is a great game. The narative is good, as is the gameplay, and there's a sequal, so it clearly did well.

10/10 Worth 7 quid.

It's a delightfully clever physics FPS puzzler. It's not particularly hard nor particularly advanced, and it's pretty short, but at this price it's a no-brainer: if you haven't played it yet, buy it, play it, and discover why it's such a classic of the genre.

Pretty sure all of you have at least heard of this game, but if you haven't, go on and BUY IT! Not only does it offer great gameplay that will make you feel like you're really holding the Portal Gun, and genial puzzles, but it also has a very good story line, to which the main AI (literally) GLaDOS adds humour and irony very needed in some of the puzzles. Good job, Valve!

One of the best games ever concieved. Elegantly simple, the game and its puzzles would have been clever and enjoyable, on their own, but the devious, wonderfully awful G.L.A.D.O.S imbues the game with tremendous personality. An absolute wonder!
