About This Game

Portal™ is a new single player game from Valve. Set in the mysterious Aperture Science Laboratories, Portal has been called one of the most innovative new games on the horizon and will offer gamers hours of unique gameplay.

Players must solve physical puzzles and challenges by opening portals to maneuvering objects, and themselves, through space.

Set in an old and abandoned Apple store from hell, Portal is the game that you think it's as easy as it sounds at first, but then realize you feel like an idiot for thinking that the levels are impossible when really you could clear them in a few minutes each. You're promised a cake from Valve's idea of if Shodan from System Shock 2 and HAL 9000 had a baby girl and almost die for it

the only con to this game is that it's too *&%^$(! short

Portal is one of two games I consider perfect. There is nothing wrong with this game, really, nothing. The game may be short, but that means it doesn't over stay its welcome. Portal is a puzzle game, and a complex one at that. You have two portals which you can shoot at walls, you go through one, you come through the other. Simple? Not really.

Portal has some of the hardest puzzles I have played in a long time. You have to start from point A and get to point B. This game also is very funny, I haven't laughed so hard in a long time.

Buy Portal!

One of the Few games that manage to creep me out, even though it wasn't a Horror game... In Portal, you (Chell) have been ordered to complete Tests for your Garenteed, Safe, Exit by GLADoS. You feel so alone in the Test Chambers, although you have GLADoS speaking to you, (They feel like Old recordings..) you still have that alone feeling.. Until you meet the Companion Cube.. You'll see what I mean soon enough.. Apart from the Rattman Dens, and the Creepy Turrets.. This game is truly a Masterpiece!

Portal is probably the most unique game that I've ever played. It's really funny and adddictive but it's a bit too short so I give this game a 9.2/10

A game I just finished roughly in about 2 - 3 hours (the difference being all the "figuring out" time), Portal is a game certainly worth owning.

This is from a person who blindly bought Portal 2 without any prior knowledge of its earlier surprise success or without the imagination necessary to fathom how "portal mechanics" in of itself, without any other additive, be a good game.
Though I enjoyed the pacing, character dynamics, and indirect indie movie-like world building in Portal 2 more, going back to see how it all began will help explain particular jokes and flesh out many of GlaDOS's warped programming. If there's one complaint about Portal it's that, yes, it's a bit short even if for $10 but it's not like you aren't gettiing your entertainment/experience value and its chock full of special features for further insight if that's your sorta thing (it is to me!)

One complaint that might not bother others but sorta bothered me - again because I'm comparing it to 2 instead of vice versa - is that the game wastes no time piling complexity at you versus in #2 how it could often blend world building and exploration more frequently. It's a case of tight budgeting vs. free property reign but I feel it should be addressed.

All in all, Portal again cements Valve's rep at never offering inept neurally challenged games. Believe the hype or challenge it, either way, playing any entry from the series will add something you'll cherish in your life.

Portal is a very interesting game, your given a gun, and your main goal is to complete all the tests chambers with that gun, without getting killed, therefore you will earn yourself cake The cake is a lie! . Portal has it's pros and cons, some of which are the concept is absoulutley...AMAZING! You will probably never see a game like this again, so it's best to get your hands on it. The music? There is none....just kidding, beat the game and you will find yourself one of the best songs you will ever hear. This gamie is actually kind of scary too, some of the sound effects and looks, can give you the spooks, and that's more in Portal 2 though, since it has creepy looks at the beginning, loud noises and all the goodies you could imagine. Here's the bad part, theres only about 3 hours of gameplay. If your looking to get all the achievements, it's right around 30 hours, and theres only like 12? 13? They're ridiculously hard. Some of them, requires you to move 2 steps. HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU DO THAT? Yea, the achievements are hard. Second game? Theres 1 achievement thats tough, get 1 friend who's NEVER done co-op before, it can be tricky, but it's still worth it. Both games are filled with story. If there was a third one, I'd totally get it, without a hesitation.

It may be short, but boy is it sweet. Portal is one of those rare, perfect games.

Playing through Portal, you'll be treated to delightfully subversive dark humor, which slowly gives way to a creepy, sinister atmosphere. the gameplay is rock-solid, too - challenging, but not unfair to the player. And without spoiling anything (like there's anyone who doesn't already know) I can tell you that Portal has one of the best video game characters this side of 2000.

Long after you've finished it, this game will stick with you.

Portal is an absolute classic, it's sequel even better. The storyline is perfect, little bits of humour, puzzle, action, even some mysterious horror. You play as Chell, the only human known to have survived the events prior, where the scientists at Aperture Laboratries all got poisoned by GLaDOS, a robot they had built, which went insane. Now GLaDOS uses you as her guinea pig and puts you through a load of tests, each one solvable using the famous Portal Gun and the many contraptions available in the particular testchamber. This game is surely one of my favorite games. If you're a Half Life fan as well, there's a few mentions of Black Mesa and the Borealis in this game so it's worthwhile getting. I highly reccomend this game! Thanks for reading!

If you like witty puzzle games this one is king. Although because it can be considered a cult game, (Aka some people might not find the humour all that appealing) you might find it overrated. Even so, you will either find the game brilliant, or at the very least, interesting.

One of the best first person games ever made in the history of video gaming. Amazing idea which was executed brilliantly. A completely different approach to puzzles which requires a lot of thinking and patience of course. Don't waste your time on walkthroughs. That's the beauty of this game. You might spend hours on some test chambers but trust me, this game's worth every second you spend on it. Puzzles have never been so fun.

10/10 will shoot portals again.

Great game. Kinda short, but still a very good game. Loved the mix of puzzle and FPS, not a combination you usually see, but it works here, and quite well at that.

This is an amazing puzzle game fun to play, but, it cost 10$ for a two hour game. Buying this game by itself would be a waste of money because for only 10$ more you can get the Orange box which has many amazing Valve games. Overall because its overpriced, i rate it a 8/10
