I played it a huge amount of time back in the day when it came out and now finally got it on steam.
The setting is dark, unique and twisted, the visuals aged quite well and the gameplay still is great.
Up to 4 Ships are fully customizable and differ your approach and outcome of each mission individually.
The missions vary from escorts over large-scale pirate-battles to stealthmissions, there also are some bonus-goals and free-roam after most missions.

if you like non(or less) generic shooters this might be for you

Really badly designed, and yeah i know its an old game but come on:
-no instruction on what you are supposed to do outside missions
-the story what the hell makes no sense and is ilogical, a guy gets his ship taken and is sompletly fine about it wtf
-the chracter interaction is so linear and dull, with some of the most lifeless individuals you can imagine especially the main character
Alough some positives i managed to gain from it:
-if you love comba then this is for you the sombat system and feel is amaizng for its time espeically if you are a fan of wing commander
-and ship customizabilty is quite enjoyable

this is a nice game for its time. not something i can take the time to compleat but would make a nice time spender. now if ony there was a way to make it into windowed mode. then it would be worth my time. but if your into underwater activitys well i guess this is it for you.

i give this game a 6/10 has some nice controls mecanics are not hard to run. aiming can be a slight bit sloppy though.

when it came out back on 2003 I loved it. 11 years later just buyed it now on steam and its still such an amazing game. The graphics on FullHD now are obv not the best anymore but considered that this game is 11 years old it still looks quite good. Especially the water. Totally worth playing it nowadays.

Truly an improvement over its predecessor, Aquanox 2 progresses faster, the graphics look good and introduce more colorful environments, and the dialogue is much improved. If it's ever on sale, you should pick it up. Check out my full review here:

Same graphics, same guns, same submarines. But in this sequel is everything even bigger. Sadly it's doing this game boring. Story is so predictable and so unnecessarily long. Full of strange characters with one main who successfully supplementing all stupid conversations. At least there are still some good fights. 61/100

Great game! Great story, never boring! Worth 5 euros! I'm hoping for Aquanox 3 to be announced this E3 (since there already is one screenshot of the game released by nordic games)

EDIT 04.10.2014 - Correction Aquanox Deep Descent confirmed to be released late 2015. It is supposed to be reboot of the series. Gameplay can be found on youtube (guy talks in german). After watching the video I can say it's going to be more of an Archimedean Dynasty reboot.

One of my favorite games. Epic story, memorable characters and atmospheric music. Much better than the first part. The unique game about submarines. The more I go through it - the shorter it seems to me. I hope sooner or later it will have a sequel. Or will something similar.

Award for worst voice acting ever? Probably. Fun underwater space-esque battles? Yes.

Sweet sequel to AquaNox and Archymedian Dynasty. Abuses video cards for breakfast, poor voiceover countered by sweet everything.

Oh dear gods, this game is bad! If aquanox didn't ♥♥♥♥ you off with the terrible control, high difficulty and terrible combat controls, congrats! that’s improved...a little. What you get in exchange for that small improvement is a terrible story on a level which is hard to convey, including being stuck with a pirate crew who talks in nothing but innuendo and vague side stepping. You play a protagonist so stupid and naive that he is attacked by one of his own crew because he would not have sex with her, despite her telling him that’s what she wanted with language that even a child would really is something "naughty". So enjoy your trip to nowhere with an insane crew searching for a McGuffin so absurd that it can't exist even in the game world! And to think the most sane member of the crew is the cannibal...

Sense this game to your enemies and relatives you hate.
