About This Game

For progress, for humanity… for science! Responsible for many of mankind’s greatest achievements, science has done many wonderful things. But experiments to harness the power of shadow? If it sounds dangerous, that’s probably because it is. Especially if something goes wrong and harmless light becomes the deadliest thing imaginable…

Set in a world where the rules of light and shadow no longer apply, One Upon Light sees you exploring the ruined remains of the Aurora Science’s labs in search of answers. What happened here? Who are you? And, most importantly, will things ever be the same again? The answers are there to find but whatever you do, don’t go into the light…

  • Top-down puzzle gameplay sees you using the unique properties of light and shadow to explore and overcome obstacles.
  • Use switches, blocks, carts and other techniques to create shadows, blocking out the light that will otherwise end your adventure…
  • Use the power of the Shadow Echo to ‘record’ shadows as they appear, then use them to progress even if the real shadow vanishes.
  • Visually charming and inspired by classic black and white cartoons, One Upon Light is a true test of skill, brains and photophobia!

Another one of these indie games where they think gameplay consists of endless dying from perfectly timed situations and actions that you must do just right or die and get thrown back to try it all over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....... and over. Seriously, not fun.

In all honesty, fans of puzzle games will enjoy this experience. It's a fantastic premise and even better execution. You'll have fun, but I can not stress enough how crap the last hour of your time will be.

This is an awesome puzzle game. How you have to block light to get past corridors works really well. The mechanics are great, too. I like the way they teach you about them aswell. It starts out kinda slow but after 2 or 3 levels it gets better and more difficult. Worth every penny!

What an intriguing little puzzle game! The puzzles can sometimes be incredibly easy but then just as quickly become quite a challenge. Some puzzles require you to have to run back to the beginning to complete areas but my favorite little thing about this game is that sometimes you have to take damage to keep pushing forward. In this puzzle game light is your enemy whether it be natural or beaming from an electrical mount on the wall so you have to be crafty to avoid sources of light by either triggering things that may block the light or hiding behind boxes and timing your next move. You won't die as soon as you are hit by light but you will be significately slowed down until you either escape or succumb to death from light! I definitely recommend this game for puzzle fans!

I did a lets play of the first few levels if you'd like to see some game play in action:
