A timeless classic, one of the first open-world strategy RPGs. The Mount & Blade series was clearly inspired by this game; if you like one you are pretty much guaranteed to like the other.

Some of the new features in this latest version can be sort of annoying (the ballroom dancing and sneaking out of prison), but it's still a better game than 99% of the things created today.

It is a great remake of the classic although not as hard as the original still very enjoyable and addictive, don’t let is cute looks put you off of it as a kids game!

I played the original Sid Meier's Pirates! on Commodore 64 in 1985. I broke many-a-joystick trying to sail against the wind. Good times. This game brought back all of those memories in a massive flood. I thoroughly enjoyed plundering all sorts of ships, I like the land combat, and the storyline gave the game something to work towards rather than just a blast-and-hack pirate game. The nostalgia effect was strong, and for die-hard, long-time gamers such as myself, this is a must-have. Best three bucks I ever spent.

I played this through a couple of times on the Wii years ago... This is a faithful version of that game, on PC. It's the disney version of pirates, but the ship battles are fun if arcade-like, and hey you get to do some pirate style dance dance revolution while you are at it (never understood the point of the wife in every port, but then I was always mercenary anyway, with my chain of men of war and treasure ships following behind me...).

conquer cities, find treasures, its there, if simplified. near-casual game made a while ago, but still fun for the money, especially in a bundle.

8/10

Graphics may be out of date, but my imagination runs wild as a James Cameron epic. If your computer blows as hard as mine and you are as frustrated as I am at the inabilities to play Assassin's Creed "Black Flag", than this is your ticket to redemption.

It's very fun, very relaxing, and just a joy to play!! This game is worth every penny. You learn a bit of history. And if you, or any friends, acquiantinces live in the carribean, you can say, YOUR CITY IS MINE NOW B***!!! You get to create your charcter's life story. Don't worry about pleasing your crew, Just go for the gold. Stealing, plundering, digging up treasure. DO IT ALL!!!! Marry all the girls in the carribean if you wish!! Hell, even live out your fantasies of ONE PIECE if that suits you!!! It's the best Pirate simulator that I have ever played. I give it 6 stars!!!!

I may not have many hours logged onto this game on Steam, but I had it on both Xbox, and the newer version on the Nintendo Wii, as well as the cd-rom version for PC, so I have played this game quite a bit. The combat system is basic if anything, though the fact that age and play time effects how well you can fight adds an immersive feeling to the game. I'm not sure, the story seems to be very indirect, which is one of the most interesting things about this game, you could play it for 6 years, every day and never touch part of the main storyline, still having a good time playing the game. An old game, but still a good one, 8/10. If you play the game, you'll understand why it gets an 8
