What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Dungeons & Robots early access is intended to provide an opportunity to the community to play the game now, and provide critical thoughts and insights on ways to enhance the user experience. We hope to receive actionable feedback as we continue to actively develop the game. Because multiplayer is such a critical component of the user experience, it will be very helpful to us to monitor a broad user base and identify issues that need immediate attention. Dungeons & Robots is expected to have issues, so if you are not interested in participating in the feedback loop, or you feel you will be annoyed that the experience is not yet perfect, we recommend you purchase the game at a later date.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The game has been in development for almost 2 years. We are a dedicated group and intend to continue devoting our energy to make this an incredible user experience. We hope that we will be able to complete the development to our original vision, include feedback from the community and exit early access within one year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“For the full version we hope to add;

- Two additional dungeon levels,
- Additional characters, weapons, armours and enemies,
- PVP mode, 1 vs.1, 4 vs. 4, and free arena.
- Auction House.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build is fairly stable with the first dungeon content complete, providing hours of exciting gameplay. We hope to quickly identify any balancing, matchmaking or networking issues and address them.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We intend to raise the price of the game as we add additional content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We intend to be actively engaged on the message boards and forums, "listen' and address critical user feedback as well as explore implementing community suggestions and ideas.”

With no where to run, their only option is a distant space colony, Planet TSI-5, where darkness is tangible and the unknown permeates the air.

Upon their arrival, the colonists survey this foreign territory and stumble upon mineral in crystal form. After further examination it becomes evident this is no ordinary crystal. Much time is spent studying and experimenting with this mineral, and eventually the composition of the crystals is decoded, revealing the incredible powers imbued within them. The researchers continue to explore the most effective methods of extracting various energies from these crystals and their many applications.

They name it Pure Crystal, a rather simple name for something retaining powers never witnessed before by the human race; the power of opening portals to parallel universes.

It becomes obvious that Pure Crystal is the key to survival, and a resource worthy waging war over. The colonist engineer a clan of powerful robots whose task is to hunt the nearby planets for large deposits of Pure Crystal. After an exhaustive search, a planet is discovered with an abundance of Pure Crystal deposits. However, the residents of that planet are well prepared to defend against invaders who want to plunder their valuable mineral. You are one of the robots, and are now tasked to secure and deliver this Pure Crystal back to TSI-5.

Make a Guild, fight a war, and bring it home. it is the sole purpose of your creation.

Let me start by saying that I have been watching this game for a while and decided to pick it up recently when it went on sale. It has so many good features that I look for in this type of game. It is kind of like a ARPG but with guns and robots! Here are some of the things I like currently, and some I don't.

Like
-Coop and PVP.
-3 different armor types with special abilities, kind of like tank / dps / support.
-Different types of guns, you can be long range or up close and use say a flamethrower.
-Changeable skills, you have 4 slots for skills, you find them while playing. Each skill has a solo version and a team version which is awesome.
-Guild System.
-Crafting system with ranks.
-Leaderboards.
-Global, party, and system chat.
-Seasons, you can rank up in the season and rise up on the leaderboards.
-Pretty good UI along with character stats.
-5 different proflies, kind of like different loadouts you can switch between on the fly or at a beacon inside dungeons.
-Survival mode, I love this, you clear a level, then kill the boss. Then you get sent to the next level and things get harder and harder with better drops.
-*Adding on day 2 of playing* I encountered a rare game breaking bug and posted it to the bug report section of the fourms, not 5 minutes later a dev contacted me about the issue and fixed my account within the hour. The devs are hands on and doing so much, you don't see that often.

Dislike
-Not a lot of things are explained.
-Hard to tell what is highlighted in the UI sometimes.
-Not very many different monsters and bosses.
-Not much map diveristy, seems like the same map over and over at the start.
-Some bosses hit too hard.
-Not many players currently.
-No story.

To end this review of the game in its current state, I would recommend it if you like ARPGs with level progression and a slight twist of guns and robots. The developer has made a lot of improvements recently and it is a pretty cheap coop game to have fun with or play solo.

This game is very easy and very fun and dosent take a beastly computer to run. Even in early access, It is very playable, clearly not finished but getting lots of updates, this game will become awsome soon as more gamer groups discover it. I was bored af this weekend and looking for a cheap game cause i had some steam wallet balance to burn, and this was the one that stood out from all the rest. It was a good choice Im gonna gift it to all my friends cause the price crazy low this week. I would definetly say now is the time to invest in Dungeons & Robots!

Environments are randomly generated.
There are plenty of customization options.
Plenty of dangers in the dungeons, including traps.
You need to search for artifacts in dungeons, that will increase your stats and abilities.
Elaborate crafting and inventory system.
Element and Meele resistance attributes, including Health and Energy Regeneration properties.
You can manipulate Armor, Equipment, Gems, Weapons, and each has its own attribute valuing Defense, Type, Boosted Stats, and Gem Slots.
There are different armor classification types*.

Multiplayer!

I'd also like to mention the developer is very responsive, updates D&R frequently, and is open to suggestions and feedback.

While not perfect,( No game is) it's a rewarding game for those who give it a chance and dive into it. [7/10]

The developers of Dungeons & Robots are quite amazing. I made them aware of an issue and within minutes they had found what was causing it and said they'd have a patch for it within a few hours.
Not only that, but within two days of me starting to play the game, they had already added a new game mode, a new boss, and revamped their crafting and dismantling systems.

The gameplay of Dungeons & Robots is surprisingly fun
+Twin stick shooter style
+Randomized loot drops
+Randomized loot crafting
+A variety of weapons for different playstyles
+Up to four player co-op
+PvP is available (though I have yet to try it)

The drawbacks, though very few
-Buggy, but hey, it's early access and the dev team is constantly pumping fixes and patches!
-That's really all I can think of at the moment.

TL;DR

+Dev team is amazing
+Gameplay is varied and quite fun
-Bugs exist (but again, early access title with a dedicated development team)

10/10, would very much recommend.
Oh, did I mention that it's only $10? Yeah, it's only $10. It's more than worth it.

Product received for free
I've high expectations coming to this game but was a letdown when it first release. Now after nearly 6 months, the developers has changed multiple stuffs and added new things. Such major bugs almost get fixed in a day. The developers are really trying their best everyday doing stuffs to improve the game. They contacted players to find out what could be improved and fixed. Help to support the developers into making the game a better game for everyone. The price is really cheap and with it on sale, it will be a steal. A really fun top down shooter with constant updates. Currently, there are too little monsters and map along with no story. There are alot of randomize loots though which is good and makes it more interesting. Hey, at least it's better than No Update Sky. Recommend trying it out and supporting the developers.

This game is a really fun top-down ARPG shooter, it has an excellent concept and I highly recommend this game to those that want to join, play the game, and make it the best.

I would like to note that currently this game is very alpha. There will be bugs and glitches. The game does need some serious quick polish to get it to at least beta status. BUT the core concept of the game is great, it has some really huge potential. So I would only buy this game if you really want to help the game improve, otherwise I would follow and wait for some patches to roll out.

As I said above, the game is a top-down/isometric shooter. What makes this fun is that you don't click to move, you do so by using WASD and you shoot your guns with left click and right click, which makes combat very interactive. You have 4 skills that you can have and equip, an example is one that increases your attack speed and you have 1 armor ability that you get when you wear certain armors.

There are two game modes currently, defense mode where you defend a certain object against waves of enemies. The other one is explorer mode where you get a random objective and have to complete them, an example is to collect X amount, or escorting a person to the exit. For combat it all boils down to pretty much kiting and shooting aliens until they are dead, they have some variety in their attacks, but not that much.

For character customization there are a lot of things you can do. Each character has a skill list where you can put points, into a variety of different stats such as increase damage, increase health, increase armor, etc... Best thing is you can re-roll your points any time you want (when you're not in a game), this allows you to experiement with different builds. You earn these skill points by leveling up your character and to level up you complete mission objectives and gain experience at the end.

Another great thing is you can customize the looks of your robot. You can find different armor and weapon pieces when you play, they are random drops in the level, and they change your looks. Another great thing is that these pieces have random stats on them, so not every piece is the same, this will give you further character customization. Also you can craft gear by finding crystals in the dungeon and have a chance to make a rare.

Lastly with regarding modifications, you can upgrade your armor and weapon pieces, they increase defense and attack respectively. There can be other modifications too, but that I haven't discoverd yet.

One feature this game has that I'm not too fond of and I'm sure other as well, is an online only game, there is currently no option for offline (no internet) play. Reason is there are online features in this game such as guilds, auction house (will be in game in the future), and various co op modes. For this price though I can look past this feature, but if it were any higher I wouldn't have bought it as I really don't like online only games.

From a singleplayer standpoint, the game is very playable. I have been playing exclusively solo and been doing just fine. Although the game is geared more towards co-op play though, but not needed if you don't want to.

From a hours:gameplay value, you will definitely get your money's worth and more. Content-wise as in levels there isn't much at the moment (will be more soon), the hours come from farming for crystals, finding items, and crafting awesome gear for your character.

Overall the game has been great and really the sky's the limit, again, such huge potential. Also, the devs are very active with the community. Quick response and fixes, I don't know many games that have this kind of dev interaction, more games need to be like this.

I hope this review helps you in deciding if you should purchase the game or not.

I'm a big fan of Early Access games. You get to experience the journey of development as the game progresses and as new features get implemented it is like receiving regular gifts.

I've just had to use Task Manager to quit out of Dungeons & Robots 5-10 times in the space of 15 minutes. I've had problems with controls, the sound and the menus. It's just not even playable in its current state.

This is the type of release that gives Early Access a bad name. The devs need to fix the basics before collecting cash from people.

Refund requested. Maybe I come back later in a year and see how it's going.

I am sorry, I cannot recommend this game. It barely works. When I started it the first time, it put me in a "dungeon", which was just a small circle. It was basically one screen. I don't know if that was intentional. Maybe it was supposed to be a tutorial area or something like that. I checked all corners. No way out. So I opened the ugly menu and chose "Leave". It then got stuck in a loading loop. After some minutes I had to close the game. Second time it actually showed me a menu screen that wasn't there last time. So that was good. Bad thing was the sound was gone. Completely gone. Silence. I started a game anyway. So now the game kind of worked, which was good, I guess. But the gameplay just wasn't any fun, because of a serious bug in the combat. You are supposed to change your direction in a 360 degrees fashion, but that doesn't work in all directions. So sometimes you are able to shoot just a little bit to the left, so you can hit the enemy. And sometimes it just switches to 4-directional shooting. That means you are constantly trying to find the right angle, but then have to move in a weird way, because it won't let you shoot where you want. It's a mess.

Those were the bugs I found in my few minutes of gametime. But even if they fix all that during the early access phase, I don't just see a decent game here. The level design is horrible. You mostly walk in corridors. For a twin stick shooter that means you move either forward (when you want to progress the level) or backward (when there's an enemy). That's basically all you do. It's boring, right from the beginning. It doesn't help that you have only one weapon, that has a recharge functionality, which means you can't fire all the time (which is what I would want from a shooter like this). Sure, you will unlock more weapons as you progress. But the game is so boring from the get-go, that I am not even interested in progressing. There is a stealth ability with a pretty heavy cooldown. But I didn't find any real use for it. Seemed out of place. The graphics are bad. The enemies feel uninspired. The camera needs to be rotated by the player with L1/R1, which also feels strange. Sometimes you see enemies too late. Also, they can shoot through obstacles, while you can't. Sorry, I just don't see this game getting any good.

Playtime and Time/money
I'd say about / 10.9 hrs on record of gameplay maximum for the state it's in now. Thats what I spent on it while playing with 2 other friends doing absolutely everything.

which is absolutely fantastic.

Exactly what is this game?
The good:
This is Dungeons & Robots. The game that it currently is, is a space themed, Action Shooter RPG game.

The Bad:
The game is rather short -- due to them having to redesign a few levels to make the game more fun.
Few bugs

So now the standard game rating:
Story: 10/10 (Still being worked on) but you can read it here
http://dungeons-and-robots.wikia.com/wiki/Dungeons_and_Robots_Wiki
Gameplay: 10/10 ( it's an excellent idea and plays very well)
Presentation: 10/10 (The game is absolutely amazing looking, you'll love the game you're given with the absolutely massive selection of materials and customizable Items.)
Soundtrack: 7/10 (It will blast in your ears at the worst times, and you will like it
Replayability: 10/10 (Very, very very, very high. play it with friends, find a server to play on, play alone, Grind to your hearts content )
Buy it, play it, it's a great game, but it only will get better. so much better

Quite promising game, might need more biomes, and maybe better control/camera, but its getting good. I bought this game when released and it was quite clunky but it got improved now, and seems to be more or less good. Also the dev is quite committed and always listens to feedback, that's also something good. Give it a try now that's super discounted!

This game is still unfinished but it's really nice. simple jump in and jump out coop dungeon crawl with everything randomised. and the customisation is simple since everything is modular you got the head, body, two weaapons, and a skillbar. And the developers are actively asking and reading the suggestions.
