Found myself missing this game of late. Recently played a certain *other* Solitaire game which failed to live up to Faerie Solitaire's story and fun. Loved the bits of story, the collecting & hatching, and of course, the solitaire ;)

I honestly don't know why I have this game; I can't remember if I bought it, if it was a gift, and if it was bought on sale. This game gets a bit boring very quicky, and I really don't care about the "story" in story mode. The artwork is pleasing to look at, but I just do not understand the game concept. Every now and then I play it to see if my opinion has changed but usually I get bored after a round or two. I think the game amps up a sequel, but I believe a friend told me the sequel never came out.

TLDR: Art looks cool, but gameplay gets boring. If your computer comes with solitare, it's basically the same but you didn't pay for one of them.

Fun variation on Tri Peaks solitaire. If all you're into is playing cards, you will enjoy this game. The art style was bright and colorful, which I loved. The story was decent until the ending. The developers clearly intended to make a sequel as they ended the story without any resolution, which was disappointing. The concept of collecting eggs and hatching them using gathered resources is great, but the execution falls flat.

The egg drop rate is too high overall as often after hatching/raising an egg you will have several other eggs already waiting in your inventory. I don't think I ever ran out of the resources to hatch eggs either, making them rather useless. I never had the opportunity to plan out what egg to hatch based on resources because I always had more than enough. The rarest eggs do take longer to drop but they are manageable. I think I had all but one egg hatched by the time I finished the story. That dreaded last egg though. Apparently it purposefully has a very low drop rate and I have given up on trying to get it after playing through the story twice, doing all the challenges, and countless free plays. It leaves a bad taste that after getting all of the other eggs with ease, the last is designed to be next to impossible to get. If you have to force people to continue playing your game by holding one last achievement over their head, then you are too insecure about your game. It turns the game into a grind. I don't start up the game thinking "Yay I can relax and play some solitaire for fun", but rather "Maybe this is the time I'll finally get lucky". I think this was a poor design decision that drains the fun.

If you are considering buying this game for the easy achievements, don't. The last egg takes forever to drop and you will become very frustrated waiting for it. If you are looking at this game because you like solitaire, go for it.

I love this game so much. It's solitare but beyond that there are evolving pets to collect and power-ups. It is a seriously great way to waste some time.

I do enjoy card-based video games but ordinary solitaire (the one that comes free with Windows) is just too plain for me. In a way Faerie Solitaire is sort of between classic solitaire and MTG. It's a more complex and challenging game, with a nice little story bridging the separate levels as well as the usual challenges. The music is quite nice fits the levels well without ever being intrusive. Sometimes I did feel like the AI was cheating a little bit, but I guess that's the nature of these games. If you like card games then I wouldn't hesitate to purchase Faerie Solitaire. It's fun, breezy, and a perfect game to fill up a random half-hour when your bored.

Very solid card game!

It's fun, easy, and addictive.

Somehow it keeps you on your toes but doesn't overwhelm the mind. There are a few achievements that are hard to get based off the RNG and your decision making so those who like decision-based games with luck involved will like this game.

Worth a buy!

Faerie Solitaire was the first coupon I ever got for completing a badge. My mother really likes solitaire games, so I gave the coupon to her. Later, after she racked up over 100 hours on the game, I decided to give it a try. It is addictive and quite enjoyable. On a side note, the egg system used to be really unfair, but they've changed that with the new system, so it is a lot easier to get 100% achievements. They are also working on a remastered version, so I'm interested in seeing what's new there.

It is a solitaire game, yeah. I'm sure you already know this much.

So, what makes this game enjoyable?

I guess it's the relaxing ambiance, the way each new gimmick is introduced, the fact that each levels somewhat feels unique.

It's a (mostly) stress-free experience for people who like casual games like Solitaire. I expected spending 2 to 3 hours at max on this game before getting bored, but for some reasons, I spent a good 20 hours before it happened.

Just give it a try, I'm sure you'll like it!

Vil klart anbefale dette spil til folk der elsker at sidde med kortspil :)
Det er både hyggeligt og afslappende. Det eneste der måske stresser en lidt, er at det er så hulens svært at få fat i de sjældne dyreæg :)

Disclaimer: I purchased this game using my own funds, and I do not write a review on a game that I have not paid for myself, because I believe they should be fair and unbiased. I don't believe you can get that unless you invest your own funds and support developers, and provide a personal sense of "value".

This has got to be one of the more enjoyable solitaire card games on the market. I have put over 52 hours into this addicting game. It has a fun background story (which does not interfere with the game play, but merely keeps you involved to continue on your journey), relaxing music, and simple mechanics with fun powerups to assist you along the way. A good value at its current asking price of $10, but I think as a casual game, I would wait for it to be on sale for around $5. It has achievements, trading cards, and is guaranteed to waste a LOT of your time if you are a fan of Faeries whatsoever.

There are quickplay levels and extra hard challenge levels if you finish or need a break from the Adventure campaign.

If you have this in your library and haven't tried it out yet, you're missing out on a gem.
I read a review once that downvoted this because of no multiplayer option ... This is "Solitaire" ... Enough said LOL.

I wanted to add an edit into this:
If you are an achievement hunter, be forewarned that you have to collect a lot of materials and eggs while you play. This, of course, is governed by random odds. You may have to play quite a bit more to collect all the items you need, and several speculations and theories are presented in the forums.

A report on the randomness: After this review, and having put an extra ten hours here and there into this fun game, I am *still* working on the last two achievements.

Good hunting! :)

If you enjoy solitaire games, Faerie Solitaire is a fresh little twist on the formula and an incredibly addictive little time-spnner. I love the randomness of the game, compared to traditional solitaire, and the objectives change things up from hand to hand as well.

I'm not a huge fan of the theme, honestly, I think the artwork and story is a little trite and the voice acting is downright cringeworthy. Some of the upgrade perks can be nice but the pets are pretty useless. I also wish I could change the aspect ratio or at least resize the window since I play in windowed mode usually.

The game itself, however, keeps me playing for just one more hand. Or 20 more hands. Or hey when did it get so late is it really 1 am?

It might also be the hunt for that last egg, which after nearly 50 hours and 4-5 complete playthroughs still will not drop. (Achievement hunters, beware!)

What to say about Faerie Solitaire? I saw a bunch of my Steam friends playing this and went ahead an bought it a while back, but didnt really crack into it until recently. It was a very pleasant surprise. It's solitaire with a few twists and a little story about a kid who finds faeries in captivity and frees them while seeking out the reason all of this is happening. Nothing too deep about the story, but it does hold your interest well enough, and is a nice fable on its own.
The gameplay itself is simple enough...it is not exactly solitaire, in that rather than match suits until you run out of cards, you are instead trying to build combos to take off the board using your held cards as the base card for said combos. The bigger the combo, the more it is worth. Additionally, you unlock powers such as being able to automatically link a card that would not normally combo, receive extra hold cards to use when you see fit, and build faerie structures that add benefits such as extra undo-s (which you can use to go back one move if you realize you made a mistake), the ability to look at the next card in your deck, and so on.
Each round is made up of nine hands, and there were something like 27 rounds total, broken up into story chapters (each chapter is 3 rounds). Each round has a set of goals, which might include a certain card total combo being reached (8, 10, 12, even 15 in some rounds), acquire a certain amount of points, and fill your charge meter within a certain amount of time. You cant move forward until you meet all the goals, so you may end up repeating a round from time to time.

Anyway, I found this to be a pleasant game with a reasonable amount of challenge, but still something you can do while distracted or feeling particularly unmotivated to do much of anything. I guess what I am saying is it is completely accessible to anybody, can be played in small snippets, and easily fills the gaming void when you aren't sure what else you want to play.

Hello there, you shiny little gem! What do we have here? Our age old, classic card game that we practically grew up with since Windows 3.0 - or as your grandmother's generic hobby - combined with a pretty fairytale and collectibles? I'm in!

The scene opens up to the realm of fairies, threatened by an unspeakable conspiracy. A dark, evil force that we fail to identify enslaves the inhabitants of the realm for its own dark purposes. A kindly old wizard approaches, and declares us as the only possible candidate to save fairies from their torment... with our solitaire skills? (I owe this joke to my friend Solanum Nigrum. It was originaly in his review, but I couldn't bear myself not to include it, due to the joke being perfectly definitive.) Yes, it is solitaire. Yes, it has a story... and the story actually ends with a huge cliffhanger, so you'll be anticipating for Faerie Solitaire 2 before you know.

Aside from your usual solitaire gameplay, Faerie Solitaire contains some surprises. You earn cash as you progress through various levels of the story - or in any casual game - to obtain upgrades for your gameplay. The gameplay also sets some goals for you in each level, that raises the stakes a bit more, either with time limits or a certain number of cards that you have to make a combo with. You are also entitled to collect some magical eggs that will hatch into various magical beasts. These beasties gain experience as you play and they may be raised into adulthood for their own achievement set.

All in all, it is a good game for a low price that you can pick to pass some mindless time, with interesting features. I also gotta mention that the art is surprisingly beautiful for a casual game. I adored the profile backgrounds and emoticons! I know, I know, it is girly... But I am a girl anyhow. So I am entitled to my fairies, damn it!
