Just Updated

  • CPUCores works with Intel and AMD processors, including 2/3/4/6 core systems!
  • CPUCores fully supports all launcher-based games including Skyrim, Minecraft, GTA-V, and more!
  • Fully supports Steam-based games as well as non-Steam games and applications!

About This Software

CPUCores automatically detects all of your Steam games. It also automatically integrates with Steam's ability to launch a game. You simply have to run CPUCores from within Steam, select the Steam game you wish to run optimally, then click the "START GAME" button within CPUCores. That's it!

CPUCores does multiple things to optimize your OS. To start, CPUCores will isolate your entire OS to your first core. Secondly, CPUCores examines and constrains key Windows services that are not essential and known to hog CPU resources. Third, CPUCores examines and isolate key Windows processes to ensure a perfect balance of CPU savings without starving key Windows processes.

CPUCores will isolate and dedicate processing cores to be exclusively used by your game. In addition, CPUCores will allow game-specific hyper-thread disabling/enabling. Further, advanced options allow you to be specific in what processing cores and/or hyper-threads you want you game to use (or not use).

CPUCores examines what non-OS and non-game operations your PC is running. It will do things such as constrain non-game programs to your first processing core. Also, CPUCores will constrain the resources used of common web browsers and flash players. So go ahead, watch your favorite Twitch streams and Youtube videos without fear of FPS drops!

CPUCores is constantly being updated with new features, enhancements, and overall changes to maximize your gaming FPS. One such change is support for Twitch streaming. With CPUCores, you can isolate OBS to specific CPU consumption, disallowing it from robbing precious CPU resources that your game could be using. So go ahead and stream to Twitch without any unplanned FPS drops!

CPUCores gives your games max CPU power to enable you to reach max FPS.

With CPUCores, you will be able to dedicate CPU resources towards your gaming, thus enabling your game to hit the maximum FPS possible on your PC hardware. CPUCores does this by intelligently controlling certain OS functions, non-game programs, and dedicated resources to be used explicitly by your game.

Use CPUCores to:

  • Isolate your Operating System to it's a non-gaming CPU processing core
  • Isolate your non-gaming programs (Web browser, music streaming, etc.) to share resources with your OS-limited processing core
  • Dedicated multiple processing cores to be exclusively used for gaming
  • Have the ability to eliminate potentially inefficient and under-performing CPU "Hyperthreading" for a particular game
  • Ensure your video game has 100% of a processing core, versus Operating System default (often only 60%-90%)
  • ... Maximize your FPS!

OS Default (without CPUCores):

Your OS works to balance CPU energy consumption, power efficiency, and heat generation, with the end result being that a default Windows OS will often balance CPU consumption across all your cpu core processors, little by little. For example, if you look at your Windows Task Manager right now, you will likely see CPU usage between 2-20% across all of your processor cores. This is great for keeping all your cpu cores relatively cool as well as be more efficient with regards to energy consumption. However, this is at the cost of CPU POWER when gaming!

The End Result:

Your are at the mercy of how your PC decides to mix and match Windows processes, misc. applications, and your games. This will inevitably lead towards a reduced performance potential that your PC hardware could offer up for your game to use.

With CPUCores Turbocharging Your Games:

The CPUCores application identifies dozens of Windows programs, background processes, and non-gaming applications, and immediately controls and isolates them to a subsection of your total CPU resources. CPUCores will then free up a block of CPU resources and dedicated it specifically for a game. You can then launch a Steam game, or any game/program, directly via the CPUCores application. This enables CPUCores to control the processor usage for that game/program and ensure it has dedicated usage to processing cores. Your game no longer has to share resources with the OS / other applications.

The End Result:

For single-threaded games: Before the application may have had 70-90% access to a CPU processor, it now has near 100% access to a processor. This enables your game to take full advantage of your CPU core, thus enabling it to reach it's highest FPS potential on your system. The net benefit can be up to 30% more CPU power for that game!

For games that operate on 2 cores (or more): Your game can now have unlimited access to all the remaining cores on your system without any sharing of CPU access to your core Windows installation or other applications on your PC.

CPUCores has a lot of features build specifically for gamers!

  • Full Steam Integration - Just run CPUCores and it will auto-detect all your Steam games!
  • Support for non-Steam games - A simple click of a button allows you to use any non-Steam game by selecting the .exe for the specific game!
  • Support for general, non-game applications - Use CPUCores with any application including video editing, databases, virtual machines, and more!
  • Convenient game sorting options makes large Steam libraries manageable!
  • Incredible community surrounding the software!
  • Direct contact with the developer for suggestions on feature updates!
  • Continual development with free software updates!

What PC Hardware/Game Benefits The Most (Most FPS Gains)?

There are 3 determining factors that come into play with regards to CPU-driven FPS in a game:

  • Your PC CPU Hardware: Do you have 2 cores? 4 cores? Or more?
  • Your specific game threading: Does it use 1 CPU only? Or is it multi-threaded?
  • Your specific game being CPU or GPU heavy: Is your game very CPU heavy? Or GPU heavy? Or both?
If you have a Dual Core (2 core) CPU and a game that supports 1 CPU (single thread) then you will likely see a nice benefit. This is because CPUCores will give that game a dedicated CPU processor, just for itself.

If you have a Quad Core (4 core) CPU and a game that supports 1 or more threads (multi-threaded) which is CPU heavy then you will likely see a nice benefit. This benefit occurs as CPUCores will constrain OS and non-game processes while giving dedicated CPU access to your game. Note: The very latest high-end quad core CPUs may not receive much of a benefit as they are known to be extremely fast on their own, so much so that high-end games are, at this point, not CPU resource bound.

However, if your PC has 6 cores OC'd to over 9Ghz with 10 SSDs in Raid A(wesome) with 4x GPUs then you likely won't receive that much benefit from using CPUCores. But by all means, go ahead :) You could say that CPUCores is best suited for low/medium/high but not ultra high-end systems.

FPS Improvements:

The impact of how CPUCores will help with FPS depends on essentially 2 things: #1 Your PC Hardware, and #2 The game itself. That being said, here are some benchmarks we've recently seen from testing on a Dual Core (2 core) medium-level PC System:

  • ARMA III = 17.5% FPS Increase!
  • Team Fortress 2 - 58% FPS Increase!
  • Tombraider - 6.3% FPS Increase
  • Left 4 Dead 2 - 14% FPS Increase

You can see videos of these benchmarks on the Benchmark Thread on our Steam Forums.

While this seems a nice tool, all of it can be done yourself in task manager, and to greater effect as the customization options are not enough. I actually lost FPS because of how CPUCores handles it's affinity selection.

From the moment I layed eyes on this program, I was intrigued. After buying and testing on a series of games: Team Fortress 2, Tabletop Simulator, Day of Infamy, Rocket League and many more, I am able to say that this successfully boosted my frames per second effectively. Before using this program, I was struggling to run games at 4k, and believe it or not, this helped me out big time. For example, Rocket league was giving me 50-60 frames per second, and when CpuCores was activated, I was getting a stunning 60-70 frames per second! With Team Fortress 2, I was getting 70-75 frames per second, and with CpuCores I get 80-90 frames per second! If you are looking into buying this program, it gets a solid thumbs up from me.

- SMITE ONLY REVIEW -

I pretty much only use this for Hirez Smite because my PC would lag and lock up when there is more than 5 mobs on the screen.

I wish the software would add better non-Steam support but as it stands now it WORKS FANTASTIC. My PC no longer nearly crashes when massive splats of explosions happen, when the mob body count hits 10+, and my fps cap is raised as well.

BUY IT NOW

Me: Quad core i7 CPU 2.8ghz 32GB RAM Nvidia 970m
Games: Minecraft, World of Warcraft, Diablo 2, Tons of tower defense games
Misc: I watch Twitch all the time when I'm gaming

Results: I don't know how it works but CPUCores makes Twitch use HALF the processing power it normally would, which is about 1/3 my system specs just to watch a good HD stream on source. This alone is probably why most my games are seeing FPS boosts.

Running LFR in WoW as a tank means you typically lag on boss fights but lately this has been a BIG help. Thanks, highly recommend!

DISCLAIMER
First of all, I want to make clear that I've done tons of reaserch in the web.
I've read almost all reviews(negative and positive), googled CPUCores as well as the aforementioned ProcessLasso, even the /r/PCMR.

Did ou really spent your money, on THIS?
Yes.
As I said, I've done research almost everywhere before purchasing this.

Let's start with the Steam reviews:
  • Recent: Very Positive
  • All: Slightly Positive
As I could see, most of the negative reviews are from people with high specs, wich is kinda useless, or people saying that there are more softwares for free that can do it better, Process Lasso, that its easy to do it by yourself, etc, etc. Point for
CPUCores.

Process Lasso
I know that its a free software and whatnot, but think a little bit. Do you really think that a "FPS Booster" would be free and 100% effective? If it is so, why would it have a puchasable "Pro version?" As you can see, it has a "30 day trial", after that it, it wll no longer be 100% effective. How do I get to be worthy then? Buy it. Process Lasso, Razer GameBooster, or whatever software you use, it will never be 100% free or effective at the same time. 1+ CPUCores.

/r/PCMR
Looking down in the /r/ ,for me, it's just a bunch of people crying that you must buy a GPU to run games, that windows can manage the application priority and whatever. People where also saying about Startup Tim(AKA CPUCores guy/Developer). that he was a scammer, with the DimmDrive, the giveaway and whatnot... People even doing death threats(???) for unknown reasons. Sorry the language, but I think that is just a bunch of kids that got rEkT. CPUCores has a total of 3 points right now...

Okay m8 , but... You can do it by yourself, by changing the core/priority manually or creating a .bat file
Yes, it is true.
But I dont have such knowledge to do it with out ♥♥♥♥ing up my system. Even if l could, how much time would it take to do it, EVERY SINGLE TIME I WANT TO PLAY A GAME? As Tim said in the forum posts, "why would I make a pizza from scratch if I can just order it?" Same applies to CPUCores. Why would I do it mannualy taking hours(for me) if there is a software that can d it automatically with a single click, knowing that it will hardly ♥♥♥♥ up my system?

Yeah, but the price is TOO DAMN HIGH
IDK about you, but I value Tim's hard work to create the tool, as well as the possible education he must have had to learn how to do it. Mabye you'll understand when your working on some project, giving your life for it, losing your time, etc... I bet you would like to receive a "reward" for it.

FINNALY, My review:
My specs (♥♥♥♥♥♥ laptop/notebook):
  • Intel core-i3(3110M) 2.4GHz
  • 4GB RAM
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000

Games Tested:
  • Rocket League: Didn't see an actual framerate boost, but I got pretty surprised that, suddenly, I got to play it on High settings, smoothly.
  • Dishonored: Actually my framerate never got below 30, when plaing the game, wich it always used to be around 25-30 fps, with CPUcores, it got around, 30-35, wich is totally playable, and enjoyable.
  • Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier: Sadly since the game is pretty demanding, and badly optimized, it went the same thing, 10-20 fps.
  • Tomb Raider(2013): I got pretty amazed(Confused) when the game ran in smooth 40fps in the more intense scenes, with tons of action and whatnot(FPS: 30-45)
(I'll test it with even more games, such as BF3 and ♥♥♥♥ like that, will update the review as I play the games)

PROS:
+User friendly interface;
+Steam integration
+Can use It with-non Steam games
+Can Use with other softwares, such as video editor
+Really does FPS improvements, based on your CPU AND the game
+Achievements

CONS:
-Some Alternative languages are badly trasnlated ("Steam" was translated to "vapor" in PT-BR, literal translation lol)

Improvements
-It would be interesting to have a built-in FPS counter/benchmark, so we dont need to use another software while testing it.

Overall rating: 9/10

So, is it worth it?
First, keep in mind that this will not GIVE you more FPS, but only use all of your CPU potential. In other words, if you have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ processor, don't expect to start playing GTA V or The Witcher 3 right away. If you want to to play highly demanding games, you should buy a better PC, or whatever.
Keep in mind, also that it depends of WHAT game you'll be playing. If it is a GPU demanding game, and not A CPU demanding, I'm sorry but this will not help you.

If you have this in mind, go ahead m8

Also, TY Tim, for making my games enjoyable.

THIS SOFTWARE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE

But for me it worked! My system:

+ GTX 970
+ Quad Core Intel i7 2.49ghz
+ 1TB SAMSUNG EVO SSD

Pros:
+ Interface easy to use
+ Low footprint (doesnt use much cpu or ram)
+ When I ran it my Windows went to CORE 1 and my games went to CORE 2 + 3 + 4 (plus 1 if I enabled it)
+ Games FPS varies (SEE NOTE)

NOTE: Some games had NO DIFFERENCE in FPS at all. But those are games that are VERY GPU HEAVY. Most games that used decent amounts of CPU gained some nice FPS. BEST OF ALL MY GAMES DONT LOCK UP ANYMORE!!

Cons:
- How the ♥♥♥♥ do you save games that aren't Steam? I mean it works, but I have to enter it every time?
- Can't use it with a joystick (not a big deal)
- Can't install on every PC in my house
- Requires Steam to be running

Overall: +++++ +++ out of 10

Please help me find the right settings. I'm trying really hard to give this product a shot since it is marketed towards systems like mine. Unfortunetley CPUCores only seems to be slowing down games, or providing no difference.

My Current Rig:

CPU: AMD A4-5300 3.4 GHz Dual-Core Processor
Motherboad: MSI A55M-E33 Mirco ATX FM2+
Video Card: PowerColor Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1 GB
RAM: 8 GB

Tested Games:

Alien Isolation: Lower fps w/ CPUCores
Postal 2: Lower fps, unstable dips/stutters w/ CPUCores
Torchlight 2: No difference
Shadow of Mordor: No difference

Please Dev, I'm here and listening. I truly believe that you are on to something. I will also say that after reading many of your repsonses to peoples reviews that you've convinced me that you believe in your product. This is why I'm not downvoting. Perhaps there are certain settings for AMD? Or maybe this just works for certain games?

Have an older amd FX4300 system which sucks balls.

This software maybe works on 1/3 of the old games I play. Not all of them, not even half of them, but when the software DOES work, my FPS is almost doubled!

So the software is hit or miss, but when it hits, it hits GOOD!

Initial POSITIVE review after using for one evening. Monitored a session of the MMO Age of Conan using Windows 10 Resource Monitor. CPU is Intel i3-6100 (2-core/4 threads) O/C to 4.1Ghz and Video is an GTX 970.

Clearly saw the bulk of the workload shifted to the second core (threads 2 & 3) and did notice less drops in FPS while in complex scenery like cities. Without CPUCore I would see the workload spread over all 4 threads equally. Age of Conan did seem to run smoother. Althrough I feel that not all games will benefit, I do feel that I will see positive improvements in a number of games.

Was skeptical to start with but the program did seem to help. Will be testing with various other games/simulators and plan to update review.

------------ Intel Core2Duo E8400
------------ 4GB 1600mhz RAM
------------ Nvidia GT460
------------ 500GB Seagate HD

PROS TO USING THIS:

---- Hearthstone: No difference with the software
---- World of Warcraft: 8 more FPS when idle, SAME when staring at water or the sky, 15 more FPS when doing boss fights
---- Diablo 3: I am very, very, VERY, VEEEEERRRYYY surprised that I get sometimes twice the fps
---- CS: Not much of a change but it feels like the game runs smoother and doesn't lag? Is that possible?

CONS TO USING THIS:

---- GTAV: No FPS change at all. Sad face here :(
---- I'm not getting the proper time using the software, it only is showing 0.6 hours?? Is this stopping me from getting any trading card drops, or is there none?
---- I wish you could save games that aren't Steam games. I keep on having to put Blizzard games in 1 at a time. Not a super BIG deal, but I wish this would be updated.

OVERALL: It works!

PROS:
+User friendly interface;
