This game was a blast (sometimes literally). Stumbled onto this one by accident, really. Saw a youtuber talking about it, and got curious. I'm glad I did.
I have a bad habit of starting games and not finishing them at times (you can ask any of my gamer friends). This one, however, gets a a good place in my finished game list (kind of a short list).
Would I reccommend this game? absolutely.
10/10 would go inside someone's brain again.
now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go blast some censors. They've been creeping on the blacksmith's roof again.

Awesome PS2 era platform game! Great gameplay and story, I really enjoyed it. Also, in my experience the port was good in terms of performance and controls although some slight changes to my GPU settings were needed to prevent visual bugs.

Oh wow. I really wanted to like this game. It has an amazing story, diverse characters, unique setting, etc. One thing, however, ruined the entire game: the controls. They are, to put it simply, awful. The camera angles are all wacky, such that you can't move the view past a tiny window of space, and you can't look up. The actual character movement is fine, until the part when you unlock levitation and the camera angles restrain your movement so you fall off almost everything. Worst of the worst, however, was the aiming system. In an isometric third person game you need a solid aiming system. However, the target lock on system is exhausting to use. This, for me, made the game unplayable.

Such a shame, as the rest of the game is quite good.

Has a decent story and the length of the game is satisfying. Best when played with a controller.

This game is by far on of the most underated, comedic, oddly difficult game I've ever played. Who needs a double jump mechanic when you can run around on a telekenetic bouncy ball! Also Luchador level!!!

This game is one hell of a trip.

Like, it starts off decently normal, where you're in a strange world, at a camp. And you think to yourself, "Huh, well this is an interesting game, sort of weird but oddly addicting too." You expect it to be like other games that you have played. Then all of a sudden, as you continue playing, it just gets weirder and weirder, until you finally except that either you, the game, or both are insane somehow.
You delve into the mind of multiple characters, learning about them, and conquering their fears or "inner demons", freeing them from a bigger problem.

And along the way, you grow pretty attached to the main character of the story. And at the end you just sit back, staring at the main menu of the game, silently saying to yourself, "What the hell just happened?"

11/10 would play again.

TL;DR
BUY THIS GAME! If you have a controller, I'd recommend it over the keyboard and mouse as I've found it to be much easier to control Raz with a controller instead of the keyboard.

Over a decade and the game still holds up.
Psychonauts is truly a testament to great game design — released over a decade ago and still holds up well. The game features one of the most original stories this side of Spec Ops: The Line, and the humor is on-point though subtle. The characters are unique, and most importantly, human. Each one has their own problems, motivations and quirks. As the story progresses, you'll get to see characters' lives unfold, each one a different arc. I think the true achievement of Psychonaut's storytelling is that you, the protaganist, is never the main character of the story, but simply a conduit. Your actions move the story forward, but it's the lives of others that draw your attention and empathy.

And my god, the level design. Instead of filling the game with gimmicky tricks that are used once (and never again, I'm looking at you Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Dishonored, etc.), the levels in Psychonauts is designed in such a way that each ability will undoubtedly be used over and over again (except for Clairvoyence). The levels also do not feel repetitive. Even though the core mechanics never change from the first mission to the last, every mission has it's own little gimmick that makes that one particular level feel different than every other level.

The soundtrack is on point, and even though the graphics undoubtedly feel a bit dated, when a game is this good, it doesn't really matter.

One of my favorite games of all time. Creative gameplay, amazing art, great action, and a fun to follow story line. This game had it all and still holds up today. A true classic.

It's like the console adventure games I would play as a kid but for PC. The story is unique and I was hooked to the game from beginning to end. Even though it's old (2005), it's still a great game to play through any given weekend.

Psychonaughts is one of those fun games that never get old, however many times you play it. The story is a methodical journey into people's minds. The battlefield is the imagination. Lots of hidden secrets, hidden collectables and funny moments. Lots of funny moments.

I'm not very articulate when it comes to explaining why I like the things I do. This game is no exception but ill give my best shot.

This game is by far firmly seated in my #1 favorite game I have ever played. Sure it has its flaws, its gameplay is a bit sluggish, it has no replay value, the lv design is a tad unorthodox to say the least, and the camera is pretty bad at times, but what it does have is truly a 1 of a kind experience that I probably won't ever relive flaws and all.

Just play it, its cheap and you won't forget it.
