I don't mean to oversell this or anything, but Psychonauts is about as close to a perfect game as exists in our flawed and degraded mortal universe. It shines like a beacon from a truer place, illuminating its shelf alongside maybe Super Mario Brothers 3, Half-Life 2, and what else? Very few games come close. All hail Psychonauts!

(The controls are getting clunky as it ages, and it would be wonderful if Tim Schaefer someday learned that cutscenes are a Bad Thing. Those are literally the only complaints I can think up.)

This is truely my favorite game of all time. The style is unique and diverse- some characters look like they can be straight out of a 90s Nick show. The humor is very clever. The characters are very likable. The story is out of the box. The gameplay is classic for a 3d platformer- nothing special, but it's easy to learn, and considering I have a disability in my right hand- there's not alot of games I can control well, this one felt easy for me :) I find the voice acting good and the dialouge (wow there's a ton of it) is all so charming. My only issue is that there are some graphic glitches- I don't know if it's the Steam port, or my PC, but it doesn't really effect the gameplay. I love Psychonauts!

What a rush of nostalgia. Psychonauts brought me back to my childhood. To be more specific the era where 3D plaformers (with RPG elements) became the norm for videogames. It is a refreshing, quirky, amusing, and very satisfying game overall. It also strengthens the argument that great graphics are not necessary for games to be great.

Positive:
- Creative, original story
- Quirky art-style that perfectly fits the game
- Great voice-acting
- Controls are responsive and feel natural
- Plenty of silly jokes
- Many unique levels/worlds which force you to think differently
- Fantastic difficulty curve - the game gradually expects more out of you
- The game feels fair. If you die it was probably your own fault
- Plenty of side quests and collectables (adds to replay value)
- Levitation = wheeeeee

Negative:
- As expected of most 3D plaformers: camera angles can sometimes be terrible
- The mechanism for rail grinding can be awkward
- There is a lot of information thrown your way when you begin. It can be overwhelming for new gamers
- Not always clear what you are expected to do
- Where is Psychonauts 2?!

Conclusion:
Well? What are you waiting for. This game is a must for anyone who has fond memories of fantastic 3D platformers. With such a low price tag there really are no excuses (especially when it goes on sale: only 1 euro!). If you are concerned about the graphics, don't be. You will have such a great time that it won't even matter. After a while you will grow to appreciate the art-style.

This game was a blast (sometimes literally). Stumbled onto this one by accident, really. Saw a youtuber talking about it, and got curious. I'm glad I did.
I have a bad habit of starting games and not finishing them at times (you can ask any of my gamer friends). This one, however, gets a a good place in my finished game list (kind of a short list).
Would I reccommend this game? absolutely.
10/10 would go inside someone's brain again.
now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go blast some censors. They've been creeping on the blacksmith's roof again.

Very fun platformer. Still holds up well in 2016. Some settings needed to be tweaked to get it to work, but once it works, it still looks really great. 360 controller support also works great. The story is fun, the environments are all creative and original. There aren't a ton of great 3d platformers these days, but Psychonauts still cuts it today.

Very fun game with great level design and Double-Fine-esque art style which Is very enjoyable. Would definetely recommend picking this up !

Preferabely try use a controller, and you can also easily patch the game to use the XBOX prompts.

Psychonauts lives up to its good reputation. While it plays itself off as a summer camp collectables-filled platformer, it is clearly meant for a more mature audience. Each mental landscape represents a different form of trauma, stress, or psychosis, and they do not shy away from darker details. But Psychonauts still manages to put itself forward with humor and a positive vibe.

In terms of gameplay, the levels are designed to test your platforming capabilites and teach you the full extent of your moves bit by bit. But completionists will find that the game hides plenty of secrets requiring a more experienced eye, encouraging players to revisit levels with new skill sets and ideas of what to look for. The game does suffer, as many collection-based platformers do, from some frustrating camera angles and shifts, and there is a few spots which require nearly pixel-perfect movement to acquire an item or progress in a level. But the good overwhelmingly outweighs the bad.

This was my first time playing, and I am so glad I finally got around to doing so!

I was always on the outside looking in when it came to Psychonauts. Never really played it when I was younger, but heard it was a great game from others.
I decided to give it a try on a whim and was incredibly pleased with my decision.
It is a phenomenal game.
There are so many fun-loving, humorous portions of the game. While, at a closer look, you can pluck out some dark underlying sub-plots. These can range from intense paranoia, insanity, heartbreak, and obviously enough, death.
You are playing around in a game and you are playing around in people's minds. There is so much twisted fun to be had.
The one thing I would not recommend you do is play on mouse & keyboard. I tried to go as long as I could without a controller, but finally buckled and got one when it came to more "combat-heavy" sections of the game.

TL;DR - You will not regret playing this. (Unless it leaves you wanting more and you have to wait for Psychonauts 2...)
