How do I describe this game? It's like summer camp if your summer camp was all about Psychically training your mind to burn stuff and shoot lazers. Each Level is based on Mental Disorders/Traumas such as PTSD, Paranoia/Conspiracy, Losing a Parent at a young age, Having an orphanage you worked at burn down while you're out buying groceries, Bipolar Disorder, Napoleon Complex, LITERAL NAPOLEON COMPLEX, etc. It's also written by the main guy on Full Throttle and Grim Fandango and the current owner of Double Fine Productions inc. Tim Shafer.

This game is a lot of fun, and despite being nearly 10 years old, it still holds up really well and plays great. Most of the game is fun and not frustrating (except for the second to last section of the entire game, right before the final boss; try not to punch your screen there ;) ). This may look like a kids game and may even be meant to be a kids game, but I think anyone of any age who enjoys gaming will have fun with this.

The only negatives are mainly due to its age: low resolution cut-scenes are ugly, yeah the graphics and character models are a bit blocky, the invisible walls you encounter don't seem to conform to the shape of the environment, etc. And that second to last bit of the final level just before the final boss will be an exercise in frustration and anger management. But really, none of these things are bad enough to be a dealbreaker in this game.

Worth getting at its usual price; absolute no-brainer when on sale. :)

One of my favorite games! Great art, story and mechanics. All aspects of the game have aged beautifully, and it looks better than ever.

I've played it on the Playstation2, Xbox 360, and now on Steam with a synched controller. Works great with the controller, but there are some minor issues navigating the options menu. Easily solved if you have your keyboard handy. The only problem I've found is that the game frequently crashing when loading levels from fast travel locations. While inconvienent, the quick load times keep the delay to a minimum.

This is the third time I've bought this game, and I'll do it again to put this on as many systems as I own.

This game captures the incrediable mind of Tim Schafer, a game that I can replay just for reliving the incrediable humor and joy I had when I first play it,

The plot is intresting, the gameplay is addicting, soundtrack is beatiful, and the characters are hallirous, in General Psychonauts is a game worth playing and metioning to your friends.

I liked this game, but it was too long and had way too many collectable objects and I don't mean just too many, I mean WAY TOO MANY. (7/10)

I guess this game was fantastic in 2005. Not so fantastic anymore.

There are too many and too long cutscenes. When you launch the game you have to endure 10 minutes or so cutscenes before you have any control. I mean, you can't switch to another window, you can't adjust volume etc.

You are collecting all these things that give you psi-this and psi-that but you don't have powers yet, except for your ridiculous punch. It would make sense to introduce these gradually.

Characters are original and sometimes funny as well. But their dialogs are somewhat childish. It makes me think the whole design is for a younger audience (6-12 year olds).

Giving this game a positive review at this point is like throwing a sheet of paper into a giant barrel full of paper in a city made from and populated by paper. But by gum I'll do it anyway, because I've lost control of my life.

Very fun platformer!

Graphics still hold up due to a cartoony look and every level is a different and fun experience. The writing is fantastic and has many laugh out loud moments. The game will keep you busy and interested for at least 10+ hours. My only gripes are the collecto-thon type gameplay did wear a little bit thin by the end. I have always been a big fan of games that have you collecting items, such as Banjo Kazooie, but collecting all of the items in this game is a chore, especially the holograms. Some items, such as the collectable brains, yield different story elements and are interesting. Completing the game will probably add on at least another 5-10 hours of gameplay, all be it repititive and mundane gameplay.

TL;DR Very good writing and creative level. Collecting items grows repetitive, especially if trying to attain 100%. Very good game to pick up on sale.

One of the best platformers you'll ever play, with equally excellent gameplay and plot. Thanks to steam, this game is finally getting the respect that it deserves.
