Way too many things for any sane person to collect but it's worth playing through if you like 3D platformers.

I have never played Psychonauts (surpisingly) until now. So my review will be one without the nostalgia factor.
Honestly though, I am really enjoying the game.

The game is funny, and the ideas it presents are pretty cool (seeing into other people's heads is always neat)

Really my only complaint would be the control set up (I'm just using WASD and a mouse) - it makes the game 10x harder than it should be imo (I don't ever really game on my laptop, so that might be why I'm having trouble). I'm going to look into hooking a controller up to the computer to fix that. I've died more times than I'd like to admit due to having difficulty controllering the character and the camera at the same time this way, lol

The graphics are old PS2 style, but you get used to them quickly. The character designs themselves remind me of something from a Tim Burton movie (ie. Nightmare Before Christmas)

From the get go, the game grabs your attention. It's fun platforming action with interesting and unique characters. It reminds me of Sly Cooper and Banjo Kazooie in a weird way. Like, I miss when they made games like this one. Exploration. collection, fun characters, and etc.

I bought this game during the Steam Summer sale for like, 99 cents. So it was definitely worth a dollar! I'm glad I'm finally getting the chance to play this game, as everyone always raves about it. It's charm might be a little lost on someone like me. as I never played it as a child/during its original time period - but I'm enjoying it all the same.

Originally had this game on the PS2, I loved every second of it until the end. Decided to get it again on Steam and 100% it for kicks and giggles, had a blast all over again. Great game with great dialogue, secrets, and overall interaction. I just hope that *if* they make the sequel, it can take from this game and SOMEHOW improve it. Get this game if you need a really fun single player game.

I had this in my library for over a year and a half before I finally finished it. I regret to not have done so much earlier, because this is truely an outstanding game. I'm really envious of the amount of creativity. There are so many details and humorous easter eggs. It's pretty lengthy as well. Much content. Lots of good!

What makes this game special first and foremost is the jarring design - that makes the characters, the voices, the dialogue, the level architecture + gimmicks and naturally the humour. What I like about it is, that it takes itself serious enough to not become a total joke. It's not constantly funny and that's a good thing.

I also like the structure and all the little conveniences. You have a Hub-world with multiple screens where you can free-roam to collect goodies. You have a transit system for fast travel and can get information at every moment so you never have to leave the game if you're stuck. The actual levels are in people's mind, and boy, did they make sure everyone feels unique. They are thinking out of the box more that in the box if you know what I mean. There is also a level select screen, the collective unconscious - another means to give you quick and easy control over where to go.

Psychonauts is a blend of different genres. It's a 3D-Platformer but also an Action-Adventure game. These elements are served in rotation and there are long stretches where one of these takes a backseat. For example, sometimes you are significantly jumping around more and collecting stuff, Other times it's more about item management and problem solving and then there is straight-out combat. Very good pacing, both gameplay-wise and visually.

And there is a lot to do... the feature list of the game mechanics are staggering. It could be tedious at some point or the other to collect all figments, say like 243 in a huge screen, but most of the time it feels very good to get everything. In some places it is a little glitchy and frustrating. You eventually get annoyed in your attempt to conquer all of it. Like, when you set the enemy on fire and he runs into you and passes in on, making you run around uncontrollably. Or when you can't get enough momentum to jump high enough off off a trampoline. Or when you're trapped in a tight space and jiggle around to get free. Yeah... be prepared for this. At that point you're probably willing to forgive more easily when the game has won you over.

A little tip to prevent you from having the same start as me: As soon as you reach level 3 (from 10) you get a new mode of transport and that changes everything.

Play with a gamepad!

This game held a very special place in my heart since it originally came out. Playing Psychonauts again after all these years brought back every memory of where all the secrets were located and how to get it. <3 <3

If you think the graphics suck, then:
1) You're wrong.
2) Buy the game.
3) Obsess over the characters and plot.
4) Buy all the merch.
5) Cry until Psychonauts 2 comes out.

I'm not normally a fan of platformers; I get frustrated far too easily.

Psychonauts, though, is different.

It's easy enough to be entertaining, well-written (silly dialogue and nods to pop-culture abound), and the voice-acting is amusing and well-performed.

On some video cards, the background and some scenery may flicker, but it's not bad enough to affect play.

A decent 3D platformer for children aged 1 to 92.

Psychonaut's strength is its charm - you play as Raz, a psychocadet, training to be a psychonaut. Psychonauts travel through others minds - an inception-like endeavor - often helping the individual reach some closure. Adults will appreciate the intricacies - you collect mind fragments, clear mind webs, and open emotional baggage. Every mind/level is unique, a reflection of the individual's personality with each introducing interesting mechanics.

Honestly, I feel like Psychonauts is an interesting piece which tries to illustrate the uniqueness of the mind. It tries to get us to take another's perspectives - to, like Raz, explore their mind.

Firts let me say that I never played this game back in 2005, I only heard of it back in 2006 when I bought the game JAWS Unleashed because the game had a promotional video on the extras section, I regret not playing this master piece a of game back then because it is one of those games that leaves you a hearthwarming feeling when you complete it, let it be the story or the world design (thinking about Mario sunshine or Starfox Adventures), anyway I really liked the game and it deserves all the recognition it did not have back in the early 2000's.

10/10

Easily the best platformer I've played, the writing reminded me of the old LucasArts games.

Bias: I am a dino. I like to dream I have super psychic powers.

Review long time coming. One of the first games I got on steam. If you have not played this game. You should
Quirky, funny, and involves a lot of brain stealing shenanigans. Totally worth playing this. To be honest, I have enjoyed all the Double Fine titles I have played - This one led to me playing Brutal Legend and Costume Quest.

Your quest is to allow the power of your untapped mind to save the kids of Whispering Rock from having their minds stolen and used by the mad man.

This is a fun puzzle platformer with a lot of imagination and creativity. A lot of interesting backgrounds and imagery to suck you into the world of psychic powers. It was an enjoyable experience solving puzzles and fight bosses throughout the game

I do hope a sequel is released. It would definitely go to the top of my to play list.

10/10 from me. Though the game is from 2005, it is still enjoyable and quite playable. With strong story, good puzzles, and fun boss fights.

Psychonauts, the game that makes you delve into the minds of people and at the same time take on psychic and occult powers in a funny way ! In a mix of adventure and plateform, Raz will have to do his best to become a student and uncover and resolve the mysterious plot that is happening in the campground.

On a plus side
Likeable characters with an original and cute design, nice graphics, good voice acting, decent exploration part, And a good enough story with romance (wooo)

On the minus side :
Plot could've better exploited the other children. Controls are sometimes problematic, some levels are unnecessirarily difficult because of that ( circus being the worse ). There are far too much collectibles in some worlds.

Note : This is the second Double Fine game that i finish after Brutal Legend, and i am extremely happy because of the romance part, something that i find missing in too many games nowadays. I hope that sequel will be there soon, with less collection and somewhat better controls.
