Bloodrayne is a third-person, action, hack and slash game that originally came out on October 15, 2002. It's been 11 years since i last played it on the original XBOX. Exploring the levels and meeting all the antagonist and monsters again is really nostalgic. Rayne is the main protagonist in the game. She is a dhampir who is in search of her father; Kaegan (who killed her mother's entire family so he could be the only family member she could turn to) she is later recruited into the Brimstone Society and that is where the game begins.

Story:
The story in Bloodrayne is not complex at all. You and your mentor Mynce from the Brimstone Society are sent to Mortton, Lousiana to investigate a disease that is turning humans into mutates. The unique enemy in this act are called Maraisreqs Not much happens in this act apart from your first boss fight the Queen of the Underworld and your first meet with Jurgen Wulf (The main antagonist) who is the founder of the G.G.G and is trying to become immortal by acquiring powerful relics scattered across the world. The next act takes place 5 years later in Argentina, Rayne is assigned to eliminate several high ranking G.G.G.(Gegengeist Gruppe) officers before they can get ahold of one of the powerful relics. These officers serve as the mini-boss and bosses of the game. Midway through the act a new enemy type is introduced called Daemites . Act III takes place in Germany. Rayne is assinged a new list of G.G.G targets to eliminate. This act also introduces another enemy type called Feral Vampires.. I can't put the rest of this act in words without spoiling major parts of the story.

Gameplay:
The combat system is plain and repetative but enjoyable (for me at least); Rayne's primary weapons are her blades which can do up to a 5 meele combo as long as she makes contact with an enemy. Her secondary weapons are guns. There are about 33 different weapons including Pistols, Rifles, Shotguns, SMGs, Assault Rifles, Dynamite and Grenade Launchers) in the game. She has 8 slots for weapons, 3 for light weapons, 3 for heavy weapons, 1 for grenades and 1 for special weapons. Rayne has 3 unique abilities that she can use, one from the start of the game and two you unlock in Argentina. Aura Sense: Targets and destinations will shine bright blue, Dilated Perception: Slow motion, and Extruded View: Allows you to zoom. The game will take you anywhere from 6-8 hours to complete.

Pros:
- Enjoyable combat/violence.
- Great level progression.
- Immersing Experience.
- Rayne's dialogue.
- Variety. (Areas, Bosses, Monsters, and Weapons)

Cons:
- Checkpoint system is annoying.
- Graphics are outdated.
- Last few words of all dialogue in cutscenes cuts out. (Fixed by turning Vsync ON - 30 FPS)

Notes:
"Another man falling to pieces over me." ― Rayne

Score:
9.5/10

A very fun hack&slash game, with a cool main character, decent story and fun combat, the level layout is a bit confusing at first but it makes sense later on, the 1st chapter is very boring though so dont judge the game early on.

When I first played this game I enjoyed it immensely, I admit now that it's been over a decade and my tastes are more refined, it's rather cheesey. However, I believe it's my settings, but the dialog gets clipped a lot, so I can't fully reimerse myself into the game. If you enjoy seeing blood sprays, and people with their arms chopped off running screaming then this is definitely the game for you.

"There are far worse things a man has to stand than death."
Dracula (1931)

BloodRayne or Blood-Rain?!
It was one of my first games since i play video games. Yeah, it's a classic for me, so i love it. The whole game is really funny and has a very sexy and cool main character. The Combat-System: here blood, there blood, everywhere blood blood?! Of course, Bloodrayne isn't soft. You can choose between your bladed weapons or a large number of different firearms. Who needs a medic when you can drink blood to recover, a harpoon can help you to catch your victim. Special skills help in the fight against different types of opponents. In the first part of the Bloodrayne-saga, you only run from level to level and fight against lots of enemies. The degree of difficulty grows with each level. The level-design seems confuse at first, but later it makes sense. The checkpoint-system is sometimes really annoying. If you die in one of the levels, you have to repeat the whole level again, because there aren't special-checkpoints. Last Point - Graphics: What do you expect? The game is old and this isn't a remake!

To bring it to the point: It is a cool oldschool Hack & Slay, no more, no less. 7,5/10

In summary:
Pro Contra
+ sexy main character - annoying checkpoint-system
+ funny - some dialogues are cut off
+ bloody

PS: I just wanted to write a short review, which brings the essence of the game to the point. I hope it will help you in your decision.

It's surprisingly fun to play as a female vampire and violently slaughter nazis and monsters. Shame the sequel wasn't nearly as much fun, at least not for me. Also, the first mission in the swamp isn't that great, but it gets better.

This was a game I played origonally on the xbox I think many years ago. It's a lot of fun and one of those games not too many people played and unfortunatly, Uwe Boll made the movie for the game franchise.

Despite this. Bloodrayne remains a hell of a lot of fun, though there will be some tweeking involved with fixing issues here and there with it being such a old title.

You play as a half-vampire named Rayne who is hunting for her father, but is invited into the Brimstone society who investigate strange and unexplained occurences. The first mission is to investigate Lousianna where a strange infection has been going around and killing people, but also mutating them.

The game controls aren't too hard to get used to on the keyboard and Mouse setup, however i did have difficulty trying to use my controller to set it up as it appeared to refuse to want to use it. You're able to drink the blood of humanoids you run into in the game and your blades are what makes you a deadly opponent to anyone who dare get in your way.

All in all, a very fun game, but certainly not the best out there. I always wanted to find out more about Rayne after this game and after completeing it I'll give the sequal a go and see if it's an improvement or a dissappointment.

Theres a few minor issues with the game bt overall still a good game. Love the series back in the day and still love it now.
The only minor problems I found were:

Screen Resolution: I had to go into the .ini Files to edit it - This one isn't a big deal since its a commong thing to check those for extra video settings anyway

Controller: The controls are a bit weird when playing with a controller But you can get use to them.

Mouse+Keyboard: I have extra monitors and the game doesn't lock my mouse in so if im fighting and my mouse goes to my other monitor(s) and I click to attack, I get thrown to my desktop.

LiekI said issues that are tolerable.

The game is absolutely stunning and gives immersing experience. Graphics and physics are still looking good despite the fact Bloodrayne has been out there for over a decade. Apparently, the plot seems a bit naive nowadays, but at that time it looked astonishing. Combat system is quite nice and brings a lot of fun, one just has to get use to it. The checkpoint system is quite annoying though, as the game on hard difficulty is very challenging. Incredibly great soundtrack and atmospheric ambient sound. I personally find the first BR better than the BR2, and for all these years Bloodrayne remains one of the best games I've ever played.

Honestly, it's been one of my top tens ever since it came out. You're a sexy vampite who kills nazis. There's a chain harpoon you use to grab them. There's zombies. There's infinite bullet time. You can hack off limbs. Indulge yourself. Grab this.

BloodRayne is a third-person classic. She is half-vampire looking for her family for some reason, it is never explained until BloodRayne 2, she goes through many interesting areas with viruses taking over, zombies and lunar enemies etc. You encounter the army during the game but of course they cant take you down, you find relics and go through castles with meanings behind them, offering new ways to play, slow motion and first person also. You feed on your prey to heal, you can chop your preys apart and there are even cheats to make her ♥♥♥♥ bigger which is a +. Have fun if you buy it, worth it.

My old gal, my old favorite game of all time.
I was a teenager and into vampires (before twilight thank god for that) and i got my hands on this game for the xbox back then! I looked at the cover to see a busty redheaded sexy ♥♥♥ vampire on the front here, and i said to my self "Must... own" and i'd love to start rating this from Jiggly rating... the jigglyness in this game is beyond normal "japanese xrated movies" and ends up looking silly :') but i still loved her as i slashed through endless hordes of nazies and zombies! I will not play this game again for a long time, because i think i will end up being dissapointed due to the graphics today. I know i sound like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ but i am atleast honest!

So If youre looking for a game, that is challenging, has (awesome) vampires in it this is your game! LAME YANKEE DON'T FEED If i remember correctly

9/10
