About This Game

Football Manager is the most realistic, in-depth and immersive football management simulation available – it’s the closest thing to doing the job for real. Taking control of any squad from more than 50 countries across the world, you decide who plays and who sits on the bench, deal with the media and solve player problems. You're in total control of tactics, team-talks, substitutions and pitch-side instructions as you follow the match live with the acclaimed 3D match engine.

New Game Modes

Create A Club
Add your own club to the game using the 'Create-A-Club' option. Name your club, choose your colours and edit your squad to your heart’s content – even adding yourself and a friend.

Fantasy Draft
Create your dream team and take on your mates in ‘Fantasy Draft’ mode. Starting with a fixed budget, each manager builds a squad from scratch, competing with other managers to sign the best talent before going head-to-head against one another in a mini-league.

Manager on the Touchline
Get closer to the action than ever before with your own customisable character to bark out instructions and join the celebrations from the touchline.

Improved Matchday Experience
More than 2,000 new animations, alongside lots of other graphical improvements and improved AI, make the Football Manager 2016 match view the best ever.

Multi Match Highlights
A highlights package available to easily view other fixtures in your own competition (or others) to keep you up-to-date with everything that’s going on in the world around you.

Prozone Match Analysis
Sports Interactive’s partnership with the leading sports statistics provider, Prozone, has seen a wide reaching revamp of the in-game match analysis tool, adding lots of useful functionality whilst also making it a lot more prominent and easier to use.

Set Piece Creator
Football Manager 2016’s powerful, yet easy-to-use set piece creator allows managers to set up multiple set piece routines to be used across multiple tactics; with different set pieces for each set piece taker, new zonal marking options and much, much more.

More Realistic Injuries
Sports Interactive has worked alongside a number of physiotherapists, doctors and related organisations to ensure that the depiction and treatment of injuries in Football Manager 2016 is more realistic than ever before. This doesn’t mean that fewer injuries will be sustained, but that those which do occur will be treated and develop more realistically. Injuries will now be determined during matches, while new injury types have been added and there is now a tangible distinction between player condition and match sharpness.

Expanded Press Interaction
Press conferences are more varied than ever before, with many new conversations to be had with the press, especially more contextual questions & responses. In addition, unemployed managers can now use media interviews to help get them back into the game.

Stats, Stats, Stats
Managers now have access to more detailed statistical information than ever before, with the introduction of a revamped stats screen and an all-new rolling stats panel.

New and Improved Screens
Information is now easier to find as a result of a revamp to many of the main screens, including player overview, tactics, the manager’s home screen and the transfer offer screen.

And Much, Much More
Further additions and updates include staff shortlisting, improved manager and staff movement, revised board requests, a revamp of board confidence, more contextual team talks, fully updated competition rules & squad information, an improved financial module, improved AI transfers and team selection, new social media features and many more – all of which combine to make Football Manager 2016 the most complete and immersive simulation of football management ever.

Football Manager Touch

Football Manager Touch, previously known as Football Manager Classic, is available as a 'quick play' mode within the full simulation as well as being available separately through Steam (for PC and Macintosh).

I don't know how to play this game. There is no tutorial in it so i can't even begin to undersstand what to do. There is no sound effects which really bothers me. Far too complicated for beginneers with no tutorial on how to play the basics.

So addictive has been for many years, takes you through the high and lows of a mangers life. Very realistic and hard to get the tactics and training right but when you do its a great game to kick back and tap away.

Football, thats the most people love in sport in this world. I love it too, now Football Manager 2016 is the newest data update. Purchase this game to be a club and nation manager. Menu is complete, except Germany squad (I dont know how to apply the nation job and squad international round up).
Ive already play it for 4 seasons, but cannot achieved UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE thropy.
The game seem not yet complete like example players photo, contract, and job apply.
So if you want to be football manager play this game.

Good:
-Match engine is much more refined than in previous games. Your goalkeeper is neither underpowered or overpowered.
-More realistic press conferences
-Transfer negotiations seem to be more realistic than before...
-The tactics menu has great depth now

Bad:
-...however, some of the values of the players are quite exaggerated. I don't think anyone would pay 18.5 million pounds for Fellaini
-some of the matches are too easy to win without making too many tactical changes. Some results can be very unrealistic, for example, Turkey beating France by 2 goals. I managed to get Turkey to the Euro 2016 finals by not making many tactical changes.

Still, it inspires hope for the next edition. Plays better and faster than before, certainly.

I hope you like goals (both scoring & conceding) from deep crosses, because you're not going to see much else. Oh sure, you can cut these goals out by doing something like, putting 5 men in midfield & closing down more, but you shouldn't have to play a certain way, just because defenders can't defend crosses & don't tell me there isn't a problem defending crosses from deep, there is. Season after season you see players like Héctor Bellerín, Kyle Walker, Jordi Alba etc etc (basically any attacking fullback) get 20+ assists every season.

To be honest, I still enjoy FM16 but I can not give a "tactical" football game a recommended review, when certain styles of football just don't work. Want to play high pressing football, like Jürgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola? Go for it. Want to take a more defensive approach, like José Mourinho or Tony Pulis? Don't bother.

Pretty much the worst game I've ever played. I took Leeds to promotion after two seasons and won the FA Cup and Manager of the Year in my second season in the Prem, only to be sacked early next season for not "improving the club's position in the league". I'm not bitter, but I hope Leeds chairman JJ Nichols burns in hell. I hope they get relegated. Again, I'm not bitter. Harambe didn't die for this.

This must be the most frustrating and most annoying FM to data. Have been playing since CM '93/Italia, but the last few editions made me lose my interest. I feel a passenger in this game. Out of control, just following the story as it unfolds. There seem to be no tactical depth left other then formation, some shouts and a ton of statistics that are hard to figure out and don't seem to reflect what i see in the 3D engine.

Team talk, the super boring and never ending repeating press talk that still isn't adding anything of value or immersion to the game, have way too much impact on the performance of your team. So your team is much better on paper than the opponent, on a roll, but because i make one wrong comment they lose all morale and ability to pass a ball over 2 meter? Suddenly they behave like imbeciles? And it's not an incident. It's the "law" if you choose the wrong team talk pretty much. There's no freedom in approaching this. So why even offer it?

In the simple version you don't have the teamtalk (yay!), but then you even feel less in control sadly when things go sideways since that tactic side of the game is the weakest to date in FM history. Nothing seems to make sense to me using these "Shouts".

The 3D engine in general is much better then before, but still far away from anything realistic. Playing on the highest leagues seeing players frequently unable to pass a ball back to their keeper, run the ball over de sidelines or other imbecile behaviour is just plain annoying. In fact, that the 2D view still is the most valuable says a lot about the lack of improvement of the 3D engine. Because come on guys, it's been years to improve. Like i've been saying for years: just work together with Fifa or PES to get anything going. This is just pointless.

I just miss any feeling of control. I have to cope with the 101 psychology that FM put into the game. Being different from that view seems to be always wrong and it's still the same multiple choice as years ago. Just learn the system and follow the rules FM gives you. I'm trying to get it - which is hard, because it's sometimes far from what i consider logical. The bottom line is that you just look up the "rule sheets" from the community to "crack the code". It's far from what once was a fine Football Manager.

Tactics have been rendered down to plain shouts. Which would be fine if it gave you some feeling of control, but it's agian more of trial and error until it "clicks", which is just the same as the slider era, without any real logic. How come i have towering defenders that keep conceding goals from crosses by losing headers and setting more pressure and a highter line, even though they are slow as sh*t and don't even have high position or anticipation rating, seems to be working much better? It's just hopeless. A quest to "the click". Not common sense. And any good idea can still be rendered completely unsuccesful because of a wrong answer on a press conference or team talk. Because ofcourse, all of your professional players (and yes, my squad has a "professional" character), are a bunch of babies in this game and turn into complete imbeciles after 1 bad comment.

Also i seriously hate the micromanagament this FM suddenly adds. And i don't mean in terms of the usual slider management and that stuff, but application issues. Why do i have to reset all set piece takes after i load a saved tactic from the same team? Why can't i not load any set pieces files (ffm files) etc? There are serious bugs in the game, and it's almost a year and a lot of updates later. Very annoying. It would give me so much more patience by a much more improved interface and functionality.

Worst of all, if you have issues there is nobody from SIgames willing ot listen. My account was from the forum was gone, it existed, but it didn't send a forgotten password mail. Creating a different account i wasn't able to report bugs and stuff. Just a circle i couldn't break. So i gave up, and the game as wel. No fun, at all!

Anything with the set piece managing is just very annoying and very badly done. I keep tweaking it. Especially if you change a lot due to the insane high amount of injuries. It's like a never ending micromanagement cycle before you can start your next game. It makes the game and the gameplay flow so slow.

I'm just very dissapointed. I've purchased all versions to date, haven't played most of the latest editions, and gave 2016 a serious go, but it's just not fun anymore. It will be my last FM untill i read more possitive feedback from the community (because i'm luckily not the only one dissapointed). Most of my friends and group i used to play with lost interest by now.

Although a decent game it still seems to have some problems which can make you start to dislike it. The main one of which are the matches where you are dominating get 17+ shots of which the majority are on target from within the box but you never seem to score whereas the AI who have players with worse stats then your players seem to score after 1/2 shots on the target. It seems that the AI has the advantage when you are dominating the games fully.

This game is so bad it makes me want to take a claw hammer to my lapotp. 'Cancerously bad' is the term that springs to mind.
No matter how many features this game may have, no matter how many little details you may have 'control' of, the entire game comes down to the actualy engine used to play the 'games' within the game i.e. the whole point of playing the ♥♥♥♥ing game; quite simply put, the engine used to run the games is so bad as to be pathetic. Balls will run in random directions, players will stand still while the opposition, or even the ball itself, casually runs past and for no apparent reason, normally world class players will suddenly become incapable of hitting the target.
It does not matter how good you are at tactics or preparation, how much attention to detail you pay in getting your team prepared, in the end the result seems to be down to a ♥♥♥♥-poor random number generator. This game results in a complete time-suck with no reward at the end of it. There are literally flash games made better than this one.

As if the game simulator wasn't punishment enough, the lack of proper licensing in the game really draws any real pleasure that might be achieved out of this game. It might not seem a big issue for some, but for an established franchise such as this you expect more, and it just leaves me feeling like I've spent money on a cheap browser-based game. This feeling only exacerbated over the sheer procedural nature of the game; there is obviously such a narrow path as what is "correct" that removes any real choice in this game.

If you have a short temper, are easily frustrated or just have a low tolerance for ♥♥♥♥-poorly determined game engines, I would suggest avoiding this game if only for it's utterly crap implemented game simulator.
I would suggest avoiding it altogether because of the completely cheap and lazy feel to almost every element of the game.
I genuinely cannot think of a single positive in this game.

This is the third review I'm writing for this game. The first two reviews where after like 5 hours and 20 hours, and I recommended it back then. But now, after 70 hours of playing, I really think this game is just broken.

First of all, I can buy the best defenders in the world and they still manage to fail defending against a potato.

Second, having a 5-0 lead and ending up drawing 5-5 against a ♥♥♥♥ team, without changing any tactics or instructions.

Third, of course it's not unrealistic to lose against a bad team when you're one of the greatest in the world, but making the defeat 4-0 is just way too far.

I have a lot of hours put into Football Manager 2015 as well, and if you want the best of the two, I recommend buying FM15 instead of 16...

Injuries all the time, even with a good physio staff!

If you don't mind having half of your team injured, it's worth buying on a 75% sale.
