About This Game

Football Manager is the most realistic, in-depth and immersive football management simulation available – it’s the closest thing to doing the job for real. Taking control of any squad from more than 50 countries across the world, you decide who plays and who sits on the bench, deal with the media and solve player problems. You're in total control of tactics, team-talks, substitutions and pitch-side instructions as you follow the match live with the acclaimed 3D match engine.

New Game Modes

Create A Club
Add your own club to the game using the 'Create-A-Club' option. Name your club, choose your colours and edit your squad to your heart’s content – even adding yourself and a friend.

Fantasy Draft
Create your dream team and take on your mates in ‘Fantasy Draft’ mode. Starting with a fixed budget, each manager builds a squad from scratch, competing with other managers to sign the best talent before going head-to-head against one another in a mini-league.

Manager on the Touchline
Get closer to the action than ever before with your own customisable character to bark out instructions and join the celebrations from the touchline.

Improved Matchday Experience
More than 2,000 new animations, alongside lots of other graphical improvements and improved AI, make the Football Manager 2016 match view the best ever.

Multi Match Highlights
A highlights package available to easily view other fixtures in your own competition (or others) to keep you up-to-date with everything that’s going on in the world around you.

Prozone Match Analysis
Sports Interactive’s partnership with the leading sports statistics provider, Prozone, has seen a wide reaching revamp of the in-game match analysis tool, adding lots of useful functionality whilst also making it a lot more prominent and easier to use.

Set Piece Creator
Football Manager 2016’s powerful, yet easy-to-use set piece creator allows managers to set up multiple set piece routines to be used across multiple tactics; with different set pieces for each set piece taker, new zonal marking options and much, much more.

More Realistic Injuries
Sports Interactive has worked alongside a number of physiotherapists, doctors and related organisations to ensure that the depiction and treatment of injuries in Football Manager 2016 is more realistic than ever before. This doesn’t mean that fewer injuries will be sustained, but that those which do occur will be treated and develop more realistically. Injuries will now be determined during matches, while new injury types have been added and there is now a tangible distinction between player condition and match sharpness.

Expanded Press Interaction
Press conferences are more varied than ever before, with many new conversations to be had with the press, especially more contextual questions & responses. In addition, unemployed managers can now use media interviews to help get them back into the game.

Stats, Stats, Stats
Managers now have access to more detailed statistical information than ever before, with the introduction of a revamped stats screen and an all-new rolling stats panel.

New and Improved Screens
Information is now easier to find as a result of a revamp to many of the main screens, including player overview, tactics, the manager’s home screen and the transfer offer screen.

And Much, Much More
Further additions and updates include staff shortlisting, improved manager and staff movement, revised board requests, a revamp of board confidence, more contextual team talks, fully updated competition rules & squad information, an improved financial module, improved AI transfers and team selection, new social media features and many more – all of which combine to make Football Manager 2016 the most complete and immersive simulation of football management ever.

Football Manager Touch, previously known as Football Manager Classic, is available as a 'quick play' mode within the full simulation as well as being available separately through Steam (for PC and Macintosh).

I HATE THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just as much as previous versions, it always takes a few games/club to get familiar with the small changes they do in the interface but then you up and ready to ignore your social life and have endless fun.

sometimes very realistic some time not at al. sometimes way to hard sometimes way to easy.

lucky I dont play it much (dont look at my hours played please)

Cool, I'll play a couple of matches before bed.

*2 hours later*

It's ok, I'll probably lose this Champion's League game, then I'll go to bed...

*4 hours later*

Hey look, daylight!

I have been playing FM since the time it was Championship Manager. FM12 for me was the last decent version of the game. Since FM13, the game lost the magic and became predictable and boring. Despite the disappointing FM13, 14 and 15, i decided to give the game one last chance. FM16 unfortunately, is no different than 13, 14 and 15. SI once again, failed to deliver a decent game. Match Engine is once again full of bugs. For example, the opposition scores a goal after one or two shots on target very often.
Also, very often on the first minutes (under 10') of the game there is a goal (opposition or user's team). The opposition GK is a super GK. Anyway these are some examples to show how this game works. FM 16 is design to cheat.
Tactics actually have no real effect. In general the main problem with FM is that what rarely happens in real football, happens very often on this game. The game is more like a Hockey Manager. In a few words, FM16 is a polished version of the disappointing FM15. Except the transfer update, the rest of the features are pointless. No way to buy FM again. I would suggest to people NOT to buy FM16. Waste of time and money. Unfortunately SI will not fix it and in fact they don't really care since there's no competition. If there was a similar game to offer competition then SI would try their best. Until then, SI will just deliver a polished version of the previous year.

FM14 and FM15 were a mess, so I wasn't planning to buy this one. However, I saw it on sale and thought what the hell, let's see if they've managed to sort it out.

They haven't. The match engine is still awful. I don't understand what's happened to these games, considering pretty much all of them before FM14 were great. I just don't see how they can't sort out the same old problems, considering they must be getting thousands upon thousands of complaints, all saying more or less the same thing ...

- 90% of one-on-ones are missed.

- 90% of goals come from crosses.

- 90% of the time a player will completely ignore a team mate who would have a simple tap-in, instead choosing to either slam it against the woodwork, wide, or straight at the keeper.

- 90% of games you will have say 15 shots on target; the opposition will have 1 or 2 and you will draw or lose.

- There's too many injuries

- Inane, repeptitive press conferences, and now they've introduced an extra one in the tunnel just to wind you up some more.

... I could go on, but everyone knows all this anyway.

Very frustrating and disappointing, considering how great this game used to be.

A direct comparison between this and FM2015 - I'm not sure if it was worth the upgrade considering they literally change less than fifa games

Match engine is clearly looking a lot nicer, with nicer animations. The match engine now looks like FIFA 2008 unlike FM2015 which looked like FIFA 2003 at best. While the animations are now better, it still has the visual issues that FM always had, like the 'inch perfect' tackles always look like fouls, moonwalking into a volley, and the fact that dribbling and technique is invisible and it looks like the defender just doesn't want to tackle. The physics seem to have changed also, the ball floats a bit more and bounces a bit more. Lower league players (conference etc) still literally have autism rather than just being bad players. Players who are prone to injury are still injured for 90% of the time at your club. Aggressive and temperamental players still get sent off every other match. Old players still become literal snails at any point past 30. Apart from that it's a nice visual upgrade, and if anything makes FM2016 worth the upgrade, it's the match engine.

The interface changes are effectively a reskin. It takes a while to get used to, and I guess it's nice, but I wouldn't consider a reskin a selling point. They upgraded the set piece creator too, so now you can create several routines and share them among tactics.

They added some detail to the already annoying interviews so you have to answer a few more questions to avoid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ them off.

They changed around a few words like 'match fitness' is now 'match sharpness'.

That's literally it.

No, it's definitely not worth 35 ♥♥♥♥ing pounds but I bought it on ♥♥♥ so it was only 13 pounds. I don't know if it was even worth that.

But I like football manager as a whole, so if you don't already own an FM game and want to try it out, I suppose you can get this one. And that's why I rated the game positive.

- 7 injuried first team players before the season actually started...

- A player of mine was very angry for not being allowed to be sold - 3 other players from my team thought I treated him unfair. I then vastly sold the player, and got 8 first team players angry at me for the entire season, for allowing him to move....

- After selling my star player, I promised my players, who were mad at me, that I would strengthen the team - I did with 2 new signings from much better leagues - The players apparently didn't think this was good enough, and kept on thinking, that I didn't live up to my promise.

- My goalkeeper was brought in as an attacker, for fun... scored 2 goals.....

- A player of mine, came to me very upset, since he was not playing enough. He then got the chance and started on the pitch in the next match. He gets injuried, after 13 minutes of playtime, for 7 MONTHS.... After a month or two, he got angry at me, for not keeping my promise and letting him start in (with a broken leg)

REALISM IS A WONDERLAND IN THIS GAME - I miss the good old version

Bad. Once again the only thing that matters is player personalities and morale (a common theme since 2014).

I just watched in horror as my sweeper keeper stands on his line and refuses to sweep up through balls. My back 4 which is instructed to lay off tackles and never close down chase guys up past the halfway line. My BWM which are instructed to close down and tackle hard all over the pitch, stand around and watch.

Furthermore they really clunked up the interface, it was fine from previous versions, now it is just more difficult to find everything, and less effiecient. I have to click on 3 buttons just to see player form or see a player report. Also in match the fonts are way to big and I cannot get all the information on the screen as I used to in previous versions. Its just clunky as all get out.

Just a terrible iteration of a formerly very good franchise.

Got Farnborough to the premier league, Delph won the ballon d'or and I relegated Manchester United on the last day of the season - all by 2031. 10\10 realistic 10\10 would relegated man utd on the last day of the season again.

Rubbish. FM2016 possibly the worst management game ever. AI is completely unbalanced. Ruined what was the greatest ever games franchise. Won't be buying any more
