About This Game

Football Manager is the most realistic, in-depth and immersive football management simulation available – it’s the closest thing to doing the job for real. Taking control of any squad from more than 50 countries across the world, you decide who plays and who sits on the bench, deal with the media and solve player problems. You're in total control of tactics, team-talks, substitutions and pitch-side instructions as you follow the match live with the acclaimed 3D match engine.

New Game Modes

Create A Club
Add your own club to the game using the 'Create-A-Club' option. Name your club, choose your colours and edit your squad to your heart’s content – even adding yourself and a friend.

Fantasy Draft
Create your dream team and take on your mates in ‘Fantasy Draft’ mode. Starting with a fixed budget, each manager builds a squad from scratch, competing with other managers to sign the best talent before going head-to-head against one another in a mini-league.

Manager on the Touchline
Get closer to the action than ever before with your own customisable character to bark out instructions and join the celebrations from the touchline.

Improved Matchday Experience
More than 2,000 new animations, alongside lots of other graphical improvements and improved AI, make the Football Manager 2016 match view the best ever.

Multi Match Highlights
A highlights package available to easily view other fixtures in your own competition (or others) to keep you up-to-date with everything that’s going on in the world around you.

Prozone Match Analysis
Sports Interactive’s partnership with the leading sports statistics provider, Prozone, has seen a wide reaching revamp of the in-game match analysis tool, adding lots of useful functionality whilst also making it a lot more prominent and easier to use.

Set Piece Creator
Football Manager 2016’s powerful, yet easy-to-use set piece creator allows managers to set up multiple set piece routines to be used across multiple tactics; with different set pieces for each set piece taker, new zonal marking options and much, much more.

More Realistic Injuries
Sports Interactive has worked alongside a number of physiotherapists, doctors and related organisations to ensure that the depiction and treatment of injuries in Football Manager 2016 is more realistic than ever before. This doesn’t mean that fewer injuries will be sustained, but that those which do occur will be treated and develop more realistically. Injuries will now be determined during matches, while new injury types have been added and there is now a tangible distinction between player condition and match sharpness.

Expanded Press Interaction
Press conferences are more varied than ever before, with many new conversations to be had with the press, especially more contextual questions & responses. In addition, unemployed managers can now use media interviews to help get them back into the game.

Stats, Stats, Stats
Managers now have access to more detailed statistical information than ever before, with the introduction of a revamped stats screen and an all-new rolling stats panel.

New and Improved Screens
Information is now easier to find as a result of a revamp to many of the main screens, including player overview, tactics, the manager’s home screen and the transfer offer screen.

And Much, Much More
Further additions and updates include staff shortlisting, improved manager and staff movement, revised board requests, a revamp of board confidence, more contextual team talks, fully updated competition rules & squad information, an improved financial module, improved AI transfers and team selection, new social media features and many more – all of which combine to make Football Manager 2016 the most complete and immersive simulation of football management ever.

Never played a more addicting game in my life. Starting is easy. Stopping is hard. The graphics are pretty good, nothing compared to EA, everything compared to OOTP series. The depth of the simulation is unmatched. I get as excited when my club scores in a key match in FM16 as I do in real life. It's great!

Best football Manager game on the market is going relentlessly from strength to strength each year. This iteration is no different. With a 3D match engine that is second to none you can't come any closer to the manager job without actully being there in person.

A really good, detailed football game. I prefer this to FIFA because it has way more detail than FIFA career mode. The only bad thing about it in my opinion is some of the unrealistic scorelines.

Back around Christmas time, just before I bought the game, I read plenty of reviews saying that the game had gone stale, had no new features or was broken.

As somebody who hadn't played since the 2011 edition, it was exactly as I remember it: Addicting, realistic and with a slightly kinder interface than before. To be fair guys, this is the kind of game where bringing new features or drastic changes isn't going to work. You know what you're getting each year, and that's why we love it. Bar a few minor changes to the interface or button choices based on previous feedback, there's not much to change. As regards being "broken" due to strange happenings in-match against the player's team, team chemistry takes time to build at the start of a new season, otherwise your tactics are off or the team you're using are worse than first thought. Have a bit of patience lads, the game can be frustrating at times, but not enough to go ranting :)

Had to uninstall in May as it was getting more of my time than real-life issues. Would recommend for the play-ability overall but (tongue-in-cheek) wouldn't due to its life-ruining properties. :D

Really Good Game

I love Football Manager Games.so ı loved this game too.I think ı don't need to write what you do in this game ı guess you already know it.There are some new features and ı liked them.for example you can customize your manager's look. This game is awesome but there is one con:Sometimes when ı bought new player(my scout scouted him near a week ago),ı bought him becuase there writes 4.5 stars on him at the position ı want but when he come to my club there writes lower than 4.5 stars.

This is the third review I'm writing for this game. The first two reviews where after like 5 hours and 20 hours, and I recommended it back then. But now, after 70 hours of playing, I really think this game is just broken.

First of all, I can buy the best defenders in the world and they still manage to fail defending against a potato.

Second, having a 5-0 lead and ending up drawing 5-5 against a ♥♥♥♥ team, without changing any tactics or instructions.

Third, of course it's not unrealistic to lose against a bad team when you're one of the greatest in the world, but making the defeat 4-0 is just way too far.

I have a lot of hours put into Football Manager 2015 as well, and if you want the best of the two, I recommend buying FM15 instead of 16...

This game is so bad it makes me want to take a claw hammer to my lapotp. 'Cancerously bad' is the term that springs to mind.
No matter how many features this game may have, no matter how many little details you may have 'control' of, the entire game comes down to the actual engine used to play the 'games' within the game i.e. the whole point of playing the ♥♥♥♥ing game; quite simply put, the engine used to run the games is so bad as to be pathetic. Balls will run in random directions, players will stand still while the opposition, or even the ball itself, casually runs past and for no apparent reason, normally world class players will suddenly become incapable of hitting the target.
It does not matter how good you are at tactics or preparation, how much attention to detail you pay in getting your team prepared, in the end the result seems to be down to a ♥♥♥♥-poor random number generator. This game results in a complete time-suck with no reward at the end of it. There are literally flash games made better than this one.

As if the game simulator wasn't punishment enough, the lack of proper licensing in the game really draws any real pleasure that might be achieved out of this game. It might not seem a big issue for some, but for an established franchise such as this you expect more, and it just leaves me feeling like I've spent money on a cheap browser-based game. This feeling only exacerbated over the sheer procedural nature of the game; there is obviously such a narrow path as what is "correct" that removes any real choice in this game.

If you have a short temper, are easily frustrated or just have a low tolerance for ♥♥♥♥-poorly determined game engines, I would suggest avoiding this game if only for it's utterly crap implemented game simulator.
I would suggest avoiding it altogether because of the completely cheap and lazy feel to almost every element of the game.
I genuinely cannot think of a single positive in this game.

28 shots, 9 on target.. vs 3 shots 2 on target
59% possession vs 41% possession

6 fouls vs 19 fouls
1 yellow card vs 2 yellow cards

After making 3 changes, striker gets killed with a bruised rib so down to 10 men vs 11 men

Still dominate the game with 10 men

Game ends 1-1

Football Manager in a nutshell

I can't reccomend this game for or against because it has its ups and downs, very frustrating game, it's fun to watch the games and see how players play (or forget to play as it seems sometimes ie: frustration), but then there's the transfers and finding rare wonderkids.

It's pretty accurate to real life really with some of the results

I have played every version of Football Manager from the original Championship Manager to this current version. Sadly, this may be the last one I buy. The series always seems to have a huge amount of injuries which can be frustrating but the match experience is even worse. The opposition keepers always seem to play a blinder against my team. My team manages 20+ shots at goal most games but only manage to score 1 or 2 goals while the opposition will regularly score with 2-3 chances. Watching your team dominating a game missing chance after chance only for the opposition to score against the run of play with their first or second shot on a regular basis really takes the fun and out of this game. Would be a great game if not for these faults.

I hope you like goals (both scoring & conceding) from deep crosses, because you're not going to see much else. Oh sure, you can cut these goals out by doing something like, putting 5 men in midfield & closing down more, but you shouldn't have to play a certain way, just because defenders can't defend crosses & don't tell me there isn't a problem defending crosses from deep, there is. Season after season you see players like Héctor Bellerín, Kyle Walker, Jordi Alba etc etc (basically any attacking fullback) get 20+ assists every season.

To be honest, I still enjoy FM16 but I can not give a "tactical" football game a recommended review, when certain styles of football just don't work. Want to play high pressing football, like Jürgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola? Go for it. Want to take a more defensive approach, like José Mourinho or Tony Pulis? Don't bother.
