About This Game

Football Manager is the most realistic, in-depth and immersive football management simulation available – it’s the closest thing to doing the job for real. Taking control of any squad from more than 50 countries across the world, you decide who plays and who sits on the bench, deal with the media and solve player problems. You're in total control of tactics, team-talks, substitutions and pitch-side instructions as you follow the match live with the acclaimed 3D match engine.

New Game Modes

Fantasy Draft
Create your dream team and take on your mates in ‘Fantasy Draft’ mode. Starting with a fixed budget, each manager builds a squad from scratch, competing with other managers to sign the best talent before going head-to-head against one another in a mini-league.

Improved Matchday Experience
More than 2,000 new animations, alongside lots of other graphical improvements and improved AI, make the Football Manager 2016 match view the best ever.

Multi Match Highlights
A highlights package available to easily view other fixtures in your own competition (or others) to keep you up-to-date with everything that’s going on in the world around you.

Prozone Match Analysis
Sports Interactive’s partnership with the leading sports statistics provider, Prozone, has seen a wide reaching revamp of the in-game match analysis tool, adding lots of useful functionality whilst also making it a lot more prominent and easier to use.

Set Piece Creator
Football Manager 2016’s powerful, yet easy-to-use set piece creator allows managers to set up multiple set piece routines to be used across multiple tactics; with different set pieces for each set piece taker, new zonal marking options and much, much more.

More Realistic Injuries
Sports Interactive has worked alongside a number of physiotherapists, doctors and related organisations to ensure that the depiction and treatment of injuries in Football Manager 2016 is more realistic than ever before. This doesn’t mean that fewer injuries will be sustained, but that those which do occur will be treated and develop more realistically. Injuries will now be determined during matches, while new injury types have been added and there is now a tangible distinction between player condition and match sharpness.

Expanded Press Interaction
Press conferences are more varied than ever before, with many new conversations to be had with the press, especially more contextual questions & responses. In addition, unemployed managers can now use media interviews to help get them back into the game.

Stats, Stats, Stats
Managers now have access to more detailed statistical information than ever before, with the introduction of a revamped stats screen and an all-new rolling stats panel.

New and Improved Screens
Information is now easier to find as a result of a revamp to many of the main screens, including player overview, tactics, the manager’s home screen and the transfer offer screen.

And Much, Much More
Further additions and updates include staff shortlisting, improved manager and staff movement, revised board requests, a revamp of board confidence, more contextual team talks, fully updated competition rules & squad information, an improved financial module, improved AI transfers and team selection, new social media features and many more – all of which combine to make Football Manager 2016 the most complete and immersive simulation of football management ever.

Football Manager Touch

Football Manager Touch, previously known as Football Manager Classic, is available as a 'quick play' mode within the full simulation as well as being available separately through Steam (for PC and Macintosh).

No game should be this hard to have fun with. I am a seasoned Football Manager player, yet no matter how hard i tried, i could never get this game to work with me. It never seemed to matter what tactics i tried or what players i signed, my team would never win, would never have a good performance and would have me quitting every career by this mid season point because i got bored with lacklustre displays which i could never change. Games need to be more challenging these days i agree, but not so complicated and difficult that i can spend almost a year with this game in my library and yet never have any fun with it.

When this game first came out, I gave it a positive review because I thought it was a big improvement from previous version.

Now I replayed it a bit to decide if I want to buy FM17... And re-discovered all my frustrations with this game. Set up a great strategy, perfectly adapted for the players you have, get 80% possession in a game and 24 shots on goal vs 3 shots on goal for the opponent (of fairly equal skilled players). End result: 1-1. Next game, players get bad morale, lose 1-2 to a weak team. Then it's just down hill.

On the other hand, exploit all the flaws of the game engine, get your troop with top morale, beat any opposition, take over the world with the worst team ever. Yay, great game, or maybe not.

So I changed my review to be negative, because even though the first dozen hours are fun, in the long run it's a very frustrating and negative experience.

ONE YEAR ON REVIEW
with each release and update this game (series) has got worse and worse, its become less realistic, more clearly offside goals allowed for opponents and clerly onside goals for ANY team i use dissallowed as offside, less develeopment from players, clearly underrated players especially youth in lower leagues, very unrealistic injuries and far too many, transfer fees wanted for players unrealistic, players wanting extremely high wages despite not deserving them, players complaing about not being given promised playing time despite not being key players, several players requesting transfers for not playing enough (during post season) despite playing every game they was available for in season, games clearly focused on fmt mode but yet you cannot use the ingame editor feature even to view hidden stats at very least, game should have been cancelled instead of FIFA Manager this is way more buggy than that ever was, some of my earlier releases did not transfer to steam saying the licences were already in use by another user, i have serious doubts about buying this game ever again whilest it is just getting worse and being the only remaining football manager game that is even slightly good says a lot bad about this genre.
i do not recommend this game especially when other games like fifa are making serious progress with main game and improving both manager and player modes, on top of that the mobile version having to pay for half of the challenges is ridiculous and i will not be purchasing another mobile or tablet etc version while there are better FREE manager games available.
FM has been on a serious downfall since FM10 though some of the advancements in layout etc have been improved.
Theres been virtually no changes in the talks etc which gets boring and almost always leads to weird responces from players for example i saved before a game started it and in prematch used all options and aggresively demanding the players perform got better motivation than passionatly asking the team to show why they were favourites as promoted both run up to match amd pre match commentary thing

Inconsistent garbage.
Somehow feels the worst of the series, despite having 10 previous titles to work things out.

+ growing up more realistic (slower, no more 19y old beasts)
+ addicting
+ still 2d mode (I LOVE THESE SMALL BALLS WITH NUMBERS)
+ player-staff member (finally i can coach too...)
+ Improved Loan system (players actually improve on loans, not like before..)

- AI INTELIGENCE (wtf, they bought my Wanyama from Southampton to FC Barcelona (!!), he played 4 matches and was sold to Newcastle for ridicolously small fee after 2 years..)
- PLAYERS MOANING FOR EVERYTHING (DAAAAAD, I WANNA PLAY IN 1ST SQUAAAD, I DONT CARE IF IM WEAK AS POTATO, I WANNA BE IN 1ST SQUAD, DAAAD PLEAAASEEEE, ALSO SALARY RISE PLEASEEEEEEEEEE DAAAAAAAD)
- Training (yeah, lets remove all detail things like deciding how hard our player should practice choosen skill)
- NEWGENS GENERATING (not like in 2019 there are 15 players in my save which PA is above 190 :] )

Buy it if you are addicted. If not, give up. You can learn, but you will get frustrated.

Enjoyable experience of having tall defenders lose about 200 high balls a game.

Took what was a perfectly function system in football manager 15 ripped it out an put in a system that makes no sense, the updated match graphics are not worth the frustration of a poor tactic system, would not reccomend for anyone used to FM 15, hopefully they will correct this in FM 17

I was on top of the world. I had it all. Fame, money, women, and league title wins. Then, the new season came around and we were ready to do it all over again. We went on to lose our first match, but I figured it must surely be bad luck. Then, the second game came around, and we lost that one too. Interesting. Third time's a charm, right? Wrong. It was obvious to everyone that it was a fluke, though. Fourth time? Referee's fault. Fifth? THEY LITERALLY CHEATED.

At the end of the season, the team found themselves in the relegation zone. As I stood looking at my reflection in the mirror, I said to myself, "Don't worry, Jose. It's not your fault. It's not your fault."
