What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“The game is still incomplete and is missing a few game elements/mechanics, still already playable. We would like to get more feedback from the community to improve the game play and the user interface. Furthermore we would like to get the community to work with us together to determine if the game mechanic is actually "useful" to the game play or if it should be removed or changed to make it easier for players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are actually not sure when the game will be finished. We got a rough timescale for most planned game mechanics, but we also want to work with the community and add their suggestions, so there is no real deadline. Still we are looking to somewhere beginning of 2017 for the end of adding new content. After that it will be mostly bug fixes.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“- Multiplayer for up to 8 players
- Missions and Campaign
- adding even more products to choose from (up to 150+)
- more vehicles
- more game modes (realistic mode)
- more variation in town buildings
- more research skills
- mod support”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“- single player
- random map creation
- map editor
- more than 100 buildings to build
- up to 100 products to choose from
- up to 50+ vehicles to choose from (truck/train/ship/plane)
- game modes:
- unstable economy (prices for products may vary)
- isle mode (play only on isles)
- Player AI (Work In Progress)
- Self growing cities and resource industries”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually raise the price as we ship new content and features.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want your suggestions and feedback so we can create a game to your liking. We even have planned to start some surveys about the game as soon the player base is large enough. This will allow us to determine if a new feature is actually a good bonus to the game or not. This way we will be able to create a game that goes hand in hand with the ideas of the community.”

Roadmap:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/376150/discussions/

Starting as a small company with low balance, you have to reach the top of all companies. After picking your first product to create you will have to look for industries that will provide you with the needed resources. From there you have to plan out your production chain, which will mostly involve at least two industries, where you will have to refine resources and produce your selected product. This Product can now be sold in a store, which you have to build in a town. All these points will have to be linked with each other with one of the four transportation types. Then after starting the transport you will start to produce and deliver your wares to your store where it will be sold.
A complex economy that is able to detect each sold product and each bought resource will balance prices for every product or resource. And a system that allows the random creation of economy lows and high to make the game even more interesting. Try to create even more complex products to be able to gain more profit.
