Short but adorable game!
All the different interactions made it really fun to just leisurely explore around.

The puzzles are just at the right amount of difficulty to not be brainless clicks nor headache inducing.

If you like puzzle games that are unusal and aren't bothered by Flash (yay 1990s!), you would probably enjoy this game. It's not long, so it's a great time-filler when you just need something to relax with an occupy your brain for a little while, (insomnia, anyone??) and it's also good when you need something that you can pick up and put down at will; you don't have to worry that something will kill you. It's a great thing to have in your back pocket for those times when you're going stir crazy because you have to wait for something and need something short to occupy your time that you can put down in a hurry whenever it's time to do whatever it is (like go with your relatives that are all FINALLY ready. Yay family reunions.)

The puzzles are pretty engaging but you can figure them out without any hair pulling especially if you're an experienced puzzle solver. I didn't have to use any guides. Each level involves moving a car from one door on the left side of the room to the door on the right, which you have to unlock. Most of the objects you can click on do something, so it's fun to see what they'll do. I was disappointed that there weren't any achievements or anything at all, but I guess that's what you can expect for such a short game. Still it is a nice time filler and I'll keep it in mind if I need something short and relaxing.

+ Positives:
* Whimsical art
* Engaging puzzles that require you to think outside the box--and sometimes even sideways!
* Cute sound effects
* Not too long
* You can leave it without worry of dying (so it's safe to fall asleep. really! you can use this when you have insomnia. it's relaxing)
* You can play with or without sound so as not to bother/wake others

- Negatives
* Some people really don't like Flash
* Some of the puzzles really aren't intuitive
* It's short. Really short. Especially if you're an experienced puzzle solver. I didn't even use any guides. I saw one picture in the forums, but it didn't help me solve anything. It was just a screenshot. I didn't count, but I think there are only ten levels or so.
* It really isn't replayable unless you *really, REALLY* enjoyed it or want to wait a year or so until you forget most of it
(that said you can use steam family share and let your family play it. oops, this should have gone under positives. oh well. It seemed to want to go here)
*no achievements or Steam cards

all in all, nice short game :) I'd get it in a game package deal or on sale.

the worst part about windosill is it was over in less than an hour. the flash-based point-and-click reminded me of amanita design’s games to a degree, but with a simpler visual style and no need to consult a walkthrough. interacting with each room was interesting and fun, and the puzzles’ difficulty made a lot of sense. based on the length i’d probably wait for a sale, but definitely worth the time it takes to play through!

I'd recommend this game ONLY IF you can get it for 1€ or less.

The game is veeeery short, not even 1hr of play. I have to say that I liked it a lot, it has a beautiful art, and some nice puzzles, but all in all in the end it's a flash game with 10 levels, half of them pretty trivial to overcome.

This turned out to be a weird anomaly from an unknown developer that just dropped in out of nowhere. It's hard to find anything to dislike, mostly because it's so brief, and while it's not deep, incredible or revolutionary, it harkens back to those Amanita style games that are content in being merely a short, pleasant experience with minimal gameplay elements, and that's fine by me.

The key to Windosill lies in the combination of the pleasant and absorbing animation, reminiscent of early Pixar works, and the incredibly smooth difficulty spike. They marry together for a soft, short and casual ride of discovery and intrigue which is best explained as simply pleasant.

Mistakes and Annoyances

There're no mistakes to speak of with this title, and the few things that are worth mentioning are incidental. While there may be a moment or two where you wont know how to progress, and might resort to simply repeating the same incorrect step a few times, I feel like this would have become more of a problem had the game grown longer, and as it stands the frustrating part(s) are negligible.
The main concern and criticism then, is the short length of play. Average completion time sits at less than an hour, and my second run through took me less than 10 minutes. Normally I'd dismiss this concern and state that the quality of the content and the price compensate, but it may be a genuine reason not to buy if you're on a budget or looking for something deeper. I feel it would've been very simple for the developer to add another layer of content, a difficultly mechanic, a few more levels or even something as simple as hidden collectables which would've added a reason to spend more time with the title.

Priced at £1.99/2.49€/$2.99 on Steam at the time of review, Windosill is worth looking out for, and the concerns about value for money in terms of length can be mitigated by waiting for a sale, but at $2.99 it's very worth picking up if you can let go of the play length.

Vector Park Inc. also have a number of demos available on their website, playable directly from your browser which are well worth checking out, including the entire first half of Windosill.

Unedited review notes 24/08/2015 for Windosill

+Strange style without forced "weirdness"
+Genuinely pleasant
-Too short, even at the low price
+First half of game available free, could be seen as a bad thing, personally find it an awesome move
+Only one annoying/frustrating part, important for this style of game
+The character isn't the central part of the game
-Secrets/extras would've went a long way in this game, perhaps for backtracking
