What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This is our first game release on Steam and, although not quite finished yet, we are looking for feedback from the community to help us develop it further.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the Early Access period to be between 3 to 6 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We have many modes, additions and features we would like to include in the full version.

Our current wish-list includes:

  • Single player knockout tournament and league mode
  • Different modes of game-play (such as 'Dodgeball' and 'Loneball')
  • Up to 4-player local multi-player
  • Steam Integration (including Achievements and Leaderboards)

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The 'Versus' mode is fully playable and can be played in single player (against the AI) or by two players. The core game-play is complete with different types of serve, camera views, power-ups, sounds and music already present.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price will be lower during the Early Access period, and will increase once the game is fully released. This is to encourage (and reward) those who support us while we work towards the 'full version'. As well as a lower price during Early Access, we will listen to your feedback and suggestions and you will shape the final game.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We want your feedback and suggestions to make this game the best it can be. We will consider any and all suggestions and openly discuss ideas in the forums. Also, if you make suggestions that make it into the game then we will acknowledge you in the credits (which we will need to add at some point! ;) ). A specific example of how we would like the community to help would be: to discover what a sensible "Minimum Spec" for the game is.”

Version 1.0 is coming!!!

It's hard to believe that it has been almost 3 years since we created the Greenlight page for Impossiball - which is when we released the game on XBox360. The game has certainly evolved quite a bit since then:

We are currently putting the finishing touches to the next update which will include achievements. You are already able to see the list of achievements on your game's page but you need to wait for the update before you can start unlocking them!

The update will also include:

  • Better controller support - you will be able to play with PS2, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Logitech, Executioner, MaxFire, and more.
  • New UI graphics
  • Better mouse input
  • Balanced difficulty settings making the game more fun to play against the AI
  • ...and more!

When we release this update we will also move out of Early Access and into Full Release. As we've said all along, we will increase the price when we move out of Early Access - this is our way of saying thank you for supporting us during the development of the game.

Thank you for your support and happy gaming!

About This Game

The 1970's and 80's were a golden time for video games. Impossiball pays homage to one of the original greats of that era, but with a 21st century update.

The aim is to score as many points as you can by getting balls past your opponent, whilst stopping as many as possible from getting past you. By rotating your ship you have fine control over the direction balls will bounce. The first player to reach the score limit wins. There is a variety of Power-Ups and 'game changers' like Magnet, Invisiball, Inversion, Shield and Impossiball to make your game easier, or your opponent's game harder.

Time-tested, classic game-play upgraded with 500 balls on screen and 3D graphics. You can try to beat the AI (with three difficulty levels) or challenge a friend.

We have drawn inspiration from Pong (of course) as well as Geometry Wars, Speedball, Break Out and Arkanoid among others.

In the latest version of the game there are 3 game-modes to choose from:

  • IMPOSSIBALL 500 ball mayhem with power-ups!
  • DODGEBALL Avoid the balls as they grow bigger and faster!
  • LONEBALL One, lone, ball - just like Pong!

The game can be played in DOUBLES mode - allowing up to 4 players to play simultaneously. One player can use the mouse and the others can use controllers or keyboard.
