I know you're probably going, "how could someone have put this many hours into a game and still give it a thumbs down?" Well, there's a sort of in-game botting system, so I would pretty much just set it up & leave it running. Yep, they encourage botting.

I got into this because I like wuxia, and the first 30-ish levels are great because you're running around a Jin Yong novel doing fun stuff. After that it gets pretty grind-y, which I was ok with because of the aforementioned botting aspect. What killed it for me is how "pay to win" the endgame is. Even as low as level 50 when I pretty much did the equivalent of a "log in and do this thing for 100 days," to get a nifty weapon, I pretty much need to spend money to get stuff to upgrade it, OR spend a lot of time farming. It only gets worse the higher you go.

While I understand that companies need to make money in order to keep their product going, I don't like the "pay to win" model. Honestly if they went to a flat subscription, I'd revisit and re-evaluate, depending on how much they charged.

Well, this Game LOOKS way worse than it actually is and after reading all the steam reviews it was kinda impossible for this game to be good but I was bored and had nothing else to do so I gave it a shot.
Now after spending plenty of time in this game I cant really say Im getting bored of it, in fact the more you play the more things you can do.

The "problem" with this game is that it kinda develops over time. What I mean is, the first hours of this game feel pretty lame and are nothing special but not later than reaching higher levels where you can do nice pve instances or cool pvp battles you start to like this game.

Most of the negative reviews only played this game for less than 2 hours which means they didnt even unlock the tripple jump or the ability to "fly".

So if you have patience and like to unlock more and more features the more you play (you can do alot in this game at higher levels) and like martial arts MMOs this is the prefect game for you...

7.1/10 - World of Warcraft Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

This game honestly isn't as bad as the reviews make it out to be! As someone who has seriously binged on some mmorpg in the last few months this one is upper middle of the road. There are definitely some things I don't like but the overall game, graphics and story kept me really entertained for free.

The world is graphically pleasing; a majestic old world China. Your character must choose between 1 of 10 martial arts schools or 'classes', and root out a force that is causing disorder among those schools.

The story starts out slow and there are subtitles to contend with, but things really pick up after the first 30 levels. So give the game a few hours before you make your decision. It’s from the same people that do Neverwinter and Star Trek; while this one isn't as good... it's worth a go.

This is the most autopilot game I have played. At any time you can click the 'auto-route' button and your character will finish the action. It's almost a little ridiculous, but I DO use it! I won't play this until level 70 so no pay to win aspects did or will alter my experience.

Overall, not going to blow your mmorpg mind... but worth the free price tag.

Hi Warrior
I like martial arts, and i was very interested to try Swordsman. The game looks nice to me. There is a glitch here and there, but it works. I like it. But...
This could be a nice movie. Why? Becouse when you watch a movie, you dont have to do anything. You just wait untill you see a battle. In this game, you dont have to do much. You click on the destination in the quest tracker and your character will get there without your help, you click on the NPC/enemy name in quest tracker and your character will talk to it or kill it without your help. I reached level 21 without using a single health or chi potion, my level bar never went under 90%. There is some story in a game, if you like to read, becouse whole game is in japanesse (maybe, or chinesse, im not expert).

So my verdict: Its nice to watch, but boring to play.

This game follows the story of Laughing in the Wind, written by Louis Cha. You are an average member of a village, suddenly thrusted into the tumultuous world of the martial arts when your village is attacked by the Eminence School.

There are 10 paths to follow in this game. Shaolin (Male Only), Sun Moon, Wu Tang, Five Venoms (Female Only), Splendor, Zephyr, Harmony, House Tong, Infinty and Emei (Female Only).

The game basically feels like it could be played on Facebook by just left-cling on the auto-quest links. It's just below average. You could call it a game with no AI.

1. Auto Quest Pathing
Just click on the highlighted word in your quest toolbar and you'll immediately run towards it. You can basically play the game by clicking on the link. There is no need to figure out where to go. Extremely useful but it removes something from the game.

2. Voice Dubbing
The Chinese dubbing is pretty good.

3. Early Speed Boost (Mount) + Teleportation
You get a mount pretty early in the game at Level 9. It makes moving from point to point much faster. Once you get Teleportation at your school's HQ, it's immensely accelerated.

4. Cut-scenes
Pretty okay in my opinion. The cut-scenes do tell the story pretty well.

5. Semi-Interesting Interactions
Cutting bamboo lets you see the bamboo fall on its side.

1. Translation Errors
The Chinese to English translation is pretty bad. Ling Hu Chong is spelt Lynhsu Chong. DuGu Qiu Bai is spelt Swordmaster Barrow Saint, Fuzhou is spelt Fugiu, Tian Bo Guang is spelt Tien Boken.

2. Low Player Count in the English Servers
Abyssmal. I counted barely more than 5 other players.

3. Tiny Graphic Errors
Your horse cart can disappear into the ground.

4. Punching Bag AI / Lamp Posts
The AI just stands around in groups, they don't even have an aggro zone. They basically function as lamp posts.

5. Not As Advertised
Some of the advertisements are just for show. You can't actually run on the roof tops. It's actually a cut-scene triggered by pressing R.

6. Swimming, No Diving
You can swim on the surface of the water but you can't dive down.

The game has nice looking characters and awesome weapons. The graphics are not anything special but you will definitely like the Chinese cities and the nature. There are plenty of schools(classes) you can chose from and you can have fun with pretty much every one of them. The combat is not that bad and you can change between stances (or however you call them) whenever you feel like it. Why did I give it a negative review then?

Because the game is pretty much a waste of time. The endless grinding is boring and feels like I haven't achieved anything. You can get awesome weapons called Sun and Moon and isn't that great? You're wrong.
You need 100 Moon shards to get the moon weapon and 240 sun shards for the Sun weapon. How do you get them? You get only 1 FREE shard a day which means it'll take you 100 days to get one weapon and 240 days for the other weapon.

The next awful thing is timed events. What does that mean? It means you can only do the events when the game says so. For example only in 11:00-12:00 , 17:00-18:00 , 21:00-22:00. You can't just log in whenever you want and do it whenever you feel like it. I have absolutely no idea why people make events like that give you no choice. Imagine if you're coming back from work and you just want to spend some quality time in the game and do your daily events so you can get some rest later on? You won't be because the game won't let you. You will miss on a lot of the important stuff in the game just because you haven't logged in when the game told you to.

I already mentioned this but I'll say it again. The grinding is awful ...it's just boring and that's pretty much it.

If you want to try the game you should definitely do it but take it for what it is. Just another game that had a lot of potential but was ruined by the excessive GRIND. GRIND GRIND GRIND.

Ok look I'll be on honest you've probably looked at this game and saw that it has highly mixed reviews and have read other comments that explain the faults in the game and I don't blame you for pre judging this game based upon that but personally I highly recommend you play this game because it's fun to play with friends and solo , has a wide selection of classes , engaging storyline , enables for a more vivid Insight into chineese culture especially if u pick shaolin class and it is very unique within its gameplay and character design and training. Now this is probably the point where u realise that this review has been biased so far so lemme show the faults, its glitchy at times, the autowalk feature is not for everyone and the game doesn't seem very clear at first due to his poor sense of story direction. So overall I personally give this game a 7/10 but download the game anyway if you r interested in the game or martial arts style mmorpgs. Plus if u don't like the game u can always delete it!!!😁

It's a decent MMORPG that follows the basic MMORPG structure. Nothing very outstanding aside from the game setting. There are some minor control issues that I've encountered that were annoying, but so far nothing game breaking. Not great, but not terrible either.

It really just your standard MMORPG

good graphics for a F2P or (P2W)
Openworld kinda (beautiful world)
Great music
Kinda engaging story
cool classes (some gender locked)
Runs great

kinda boring (been there seen that type)
all audio is in a asian language (interface is not)
Kinda feels slow like not enough action
Controls are a mess

really if your new to MMORPG give it a try
but there are better ones

AWESOME game!! If you enjoy the classic martial arts films from such famous directors like Chang Cheh & Tsui Hark, you will LOVE Swordsman. I have been playing Swordsman since it was in beta, so when I saw it was now on Steam, I immediately downloaded it(again). I've got hundreds of hours playing before it came here to Steam... Yes, you have to make an Arc account first, but since it's here on Steam now, you don't have to use Arc's clunky interface.

The plot is the general story of you seeking answers after your village is massacred, and a renegade martial arts faction seeking to eliminate the other schools and take control of the martial world(like some of the KILLER Shaw Bros. studios films of the 70s and 80s! I saw alot of these in the theatres as a teenager{yes, I am old. LOL} and it was soooooooooo cool.)... You get to choose from such famous schools of REAL martial arts like Shaolin and Wu tang, and some fantasy schools, like the infamous Five Venoms, and more. I currently am playing a level 35 Shaolin male character and a level 31 Wu Tang female.

Don't worry about some of the negative reviews - some of these people are obviously not familiar with Asian MMOs. They ARE different from Western games, but that's NOT a bad thing, just different. One reviewer couldn't even tell that this game was Chinese, confusing it with Japanese(?!) which is quite a different culture & language, even misspelling both words(and smacking a little racist). That's like saying Norwegians and Italians are the same because both are European!

It's a great game.

The fact that this is NOT in English was a conscious choice by the US-based devs to retain the feel of those classic kung fu movies, like "36th Chamber of Shaolin" or Jet Li's "Hero", NOT a flaw, as some reviewers above erroneously assumed. If you've ever seen these types of films in their original language, versus the horrendous dubbing that most of these movies seem to be plagued with, you know that it makes a HUGE difference in the entire feel of the film.

Frankly, if one is not 1.) familiar with Asian MMOs, and 2.) a Chinese martial arts movie fan, you just might not 'get it'.

I have tried may Oriental based RPGs, MORPG, etc, even ones from Perfect World, but this one is by far the best I have played. Interface is intuitive, but the best is the story and ingame sequences. Like watching a Kungfu movie. Just my thing. Different starts give different side missions, different storylines etc.

This game is way to good you can double jumb, glide, eagle drop and run on water like wtf is this. This game needs work though them lips no move reguarly (like ewww telepathy open your dam mouth) and ♥♥♥♥ing marriage man like perfect world back at it again ♥♥♥♥ing with people so hard XD. 8/10 best game ive seen in terms of story and freedom not to mention them combat is dumed down a little love this game so far only a little over 20 hours in the game.
kind of funny that your companion needs to be beaten up to follow your lead like what has the maid or the long hair kid done to you. (you know what i mean if you played till the recruitment of other companions)
other than that pretty spot on.

I'm not sure why there are positive reviews of this atrocity...

It's ugly, boring, the story is uninteresting.
The characters are uninteresting.
The voice acting (even without speaking chinese) is atrocious.

The gameplay is made for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 2 years old (just click, to attack, click to go to X...)
There's an integrated fighting/looting bot (what's the point of levelling up then if the game does it for you when you are not around? :S ).

In short, another worthless "perfect" world game... Good thing it is free, even at this price, it is asking for too much... we should get paid to waste time on such garbage.

There's almost a good game here. Not quite. It's a shame, because the environments are actually very well done, but that's pretty much where the appeal ends.

Lots of bugs, awful UI, and a lot of things aren't even working at all. I frequently felt that the actions I was trying to take were pointless, as critical timing actions seem to fail due to lag or just plain bad programming; it's hard to say which. And then there's the terrible voice-acting (even though I don't speak Chinese, it's pretty obvious).

Basically this should be an early-access game, but it's not. Maybe try again in a year, hopefully it'll be done.
