Purchased for 49 pennies during the Summer Sale. Got all achievements in 108 minutes, with the 1000 deaths being the last one. Fun times, pretty rewarding except that hard mode is (almost?) identical to casual mode. It's true that there's a bit of luck involved, but knowing how to quickly capitalize on those fortunate moments is what separates the salty from the successful. I recommend it to everybody, and if you don't like it, it's probably your own fault.

This game is mental torture, seriously I am bubbling with rage! It has really awkard momentum that will randomly stop and the shape of the egg doesn't help! But like... it has ... easy achievements... right? *tumble weed goes by*

Humpty Dumpty sat on a spike
Humpty Dumpty fell off a wall
Humpty Dumpy hates right angles
Humpty Dumpty is not a ball.

8/10 Spent 30 hours torturing myself to try to get all achievements (I WILL DO IT!!!!)
"Egg Returns Home? Not for CC" - says my bff.
"Why do you hate yourself so much?" - asked my bro
But I'm totally enough a sadist to heavily recommend this to others. Especially masochists, and anyone good with egg-rolling and jumping physics =\ Not recommended for rage quitters who hate platformers where you die over and over and over and over...

♥ Egg Returns Home is addicting.

Seriously. I strove to have a "perfect" game with Egg Returns Home - I wanted to get every achievement, a goal I never had before, and one I learned to regret. / v \

Mid-terms? Nah. Watch Game of Thrones? Nope.

All I wanted to do was play this game. The last achievement I have is play every level on hard/expert - something I don't think I'll ever achieve. Was it worth it? YES! : D

♥ My bearded dragon loved watching me play.

Rhyssa and her tank are positioned behind my desk, meaning that she can see everything on my screen, and surprisingly this game turned out to be her favorite. I found her pressed against the glass; intent on watching me play (and die....a lot). I appreciate the free beardie entertainment!

♥ I'm terribly allergic to eggs.

Why is this as positive trait? Because for all the years that eggs made me sick, I appreciated seeing the egg crack.

✘ As I mentioned before, the game is addicting.

Playing it made me lose my attention span with schoolwork and turned me away from playing games with friends. The fact that it's addicting can be a plus and a minus but is a feature I appreciate in video games.

✘ The jump button is clunky.

I do admit that the controls can be hard to use at times. I've played the game with both controller and keyboard, though I ended up trying to perfect it with a keyboard. The jump keys can be difficult because sometimes they seem to just stop.

Always seemingly when you're just about to finish the level.... x)

✘ The spikes.

Just when you think the levels are as hard as they're going to get, you meet your best friend, the spikes. Not only do they soar up, they also soar down - all bunched together it requires you to figure out the pattern of how you should jump, and quickly.

Take a minute to think and you'll die. This drove me absolutely bonkers though I appreciate how the developer put time into changing up the levels. They never bored me, though they did frustrate me!

Overall I firmly believe this game is worth playing...

or sending to a friend who needs to learn the value of being patient.

Bad Ending/10

But overall it was pretty fun and it was a great game to play when i was bored. Worth the 2 dollars.

P.S - This game takes lots of skill and is very challenging.

I'm a little upset about the 1,543,363 tries it took me to beat the last level, but you know, hard work pays off!

11/10, would play 50 more times, pretty eggcellent!

Controlling the egg to make tricky jumps over hazards can be hair-pulling at times and one could argue that because of that "the controls are terrible". But you're an egg that uses its rolling as momentum for speed to make long jumps, you don't exactly have the luxury of legs and feet. And it's this simple point that makes the game both equal parts frustrating and challenging. You will die... a lot. But you will also gradually get better. It's not exactly eggscellent, but it is certainly one shell of a tough game that will challenge your patience.

"Die 1000 times" - such "achievement" here isn't a coincidence, that's a warning sign. But if you want to witness how carriage is turning into pumpkin - welcome to.

It's about:
  • making the egg roll;
  • jumping and feeling the rhythm;
  • testing your skills of staying calm and being patient;
  • cursing developers.

Why you should play this:
  • you like hardcore platformers and don't care if the difficulty was caused by original game's mechanic, brilliant level-design, necessity of trainging or just by questionable controls;
  • you like platformers with simple physics elements (here it's inertia);
  • you like games where a lot depends on luck, not on your skills or training ability;
  • you don't mind to play the same level many times.

Why you may not like it:
  • controls - let's say that they are controversial: on many stages game demands preciseness, but controls aren't precise by default because they based on inertia;
  • some levels definetely must have checkpoints, otherwise it's a meaningless repeating of the same again and again and again;
  • there's a constant feeling that egg's ability to roll is randomly generated;
  • sometimes it's literally easier to close eyes and try to beat the level believing in pure luck than beat the level through polishing your skills - that says it all about game's mechanic and level-design.

It's not that bad, it's just as fun as tossing a coin: may be entertaining first dozen times, but you hardly like to do that hundreds of times.
Here is the same: on some of the levels nothing depends on your skills - luck of the draw as with coin.
How much pleasure in that is up to you.
Likely, relief is the only emotion you will feel after beating the game.

Egg returns home 10 / 10
Steam / PC

Platforming as an egg has never been so much fun. Timing the egg wobble just right doesn't take long and is deeply satisfying, I can now be the Egg I have always dreamed of, and so can you. One very interesting mechanic is moving forward by jumping backwards; you can't do this on a skateboard - you need an egg; so if you ride a skateboard then you need this game. I have mastered the physics of eggs and life now feels complete.

Delightfully short levels, the casual playthrough took 1 hour. Hardcore playthrough took 3 hours. 100% Achievements in 4 hours. The sound track is an audio smoothie; 6 relaxing concertos written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Caviat Emptor: In hardcore mode there are two levels which require 99% luck and brute force perseverence at one hundred respawns each !

Buy this if you want delighfully simple platforming game with the physics of an egg, easy to pick up and hard to put down.
