March 09th, 2016 – Rotterdam SOEDESCO and Vertigo Games have confirmed Adam’s Venture: Origins is set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on April 1, 2016.

The adventure begins in 1928, when a routine excavation of a French church leads to the discovery of a strange scroll bearing Templar symbols. What follows is a race to uncover the location of the four rivers mentioned in the Book of Genesis – and unpick what this could mean.

Adam’s Venture: Origins was first announced last year and is a remake of the original Adam’s Venture Chronicles – The Search for the Lost Garden, Soloman’s Secret and Revelations. Set in the 1920’s, Adam’s Venture Origins is an extensive remake of the originally announced game, reimagining the franchise as a fully formed non-violent, next-generation adventure game.

Streamlined with the power of Unity 5 and replotted to forge an engaging narrative, this is the definitive Adam’s Venture experience. Over the course of their adventures, players will find themselves crossing the globe, visiting locations like Jerusalem, Oxford, and even Temple Mount.

As has been noted by everyone else, the three Adam Venture games which was at one time sold individually have been grouped together to produce one long game named Adam Venture Chronicles (2015) created by a Dutch company which can be found here http://vertigo-games.com/company/

It claims to be an online adventure similar to Allan Quatermaine and Indiana Jones and it does have that type of feel about it all. It was also created to be suitable for Christians and young children as it contains little to no violence or bloodshed in the entire adventure series. However let’s still look at each individually.

Chapter 1: The Search for the Lost Garden (2009 released)

The graphics in this particular instalment are quite cheesy. Granted the backdrops are often vibrant with countless eye catching sparkle and glimmering spectres everywhere your main character travels. Seriously diamonds, crystals and glitter fill the caverns like as if some sort of Mardigras parade had been through the whole cave system moments before you got there. Yet it still never takes the focus off the question why your character Adam Venture is wearing MC hammers pants? Couple this with the fact that when the game starts there is a lizard which seems to do a river dance in suspended air for some reason and you’re really waiting for the moment when the bass kicks in and that immortalised sentence ‘you can’t touch this’ and everyone starts to doing the signature hammer dance. Alas it never happens. But the game is so corny it could have and it would have gotten away with it. Trust me.

This part of the game will take you about 2 hrs - 4 hrs if you want all achievements. With the exception of the first puzzle, the rest aren’t that difficult. Half the puzzles are simply scripture columns which have been broken up into three parts and need to be placed in the correct order. However other puzzles and their requirements are more obscure when you first come across them and like me you’ll probably just start randomly clicking as you know there is a limited amount of combinations it could be.

Story is that you have discovered the location of the Garden of Eden. The big problem is, that many game developers who choose to do a religious themed game, because let’s face it, the target audience is huge, often these people have no idea what so ever, what they are in fact talking about and often just make a fool of themselves and their product to those that do.

Are you ready for this? The Garden of Eden is still around and so is the snake! In fact it wasn't really a snake to begin with, but more the smoke monster from the TV series 'Lost' and apparently the smoke monster was doing God's work all along and stopping people from getting to the 'Tree of Life' ?.... Completely lost me there... (Actually Gen 3:24 says that God posted a number of Cherubs and a flaming sword to protect the trees, not a smoke monster.)

But the biggest downer for me personally is that you never get there. You never do see the Garden of Eden. Which is a complete bummer. This disappointment could have been rectified if the bass kicked in at this moment and the snake started singing ‘you can’t touch this’ and all the archaeologists dropped their differences and started doing the running man dance as the caves came down. Golden opportunity lost forever…

Chapter 2: Solomon’s Secret (2011)

In this instalment (which will take you about 5 hrs) the developers seem to have zero care for actual history and take just as many liberties as the Startrek franchise does with science.

For those that don't know, King Solomon was a real king. In fact not only the richest king at the time, but is still the richest man who has even ever lived. In today's terms he was earning somewhere around 250 million a year. Just imagine all the Steam games you could get with that!

Anyway there has always been thoughts that there might be some hidden riches waiting to be unearthed in a hidden temple somewhere and here is what the games main story premise plays on. An evil corporation is digging up the temple mount. Oh dearie me who will save us all from dire calamity. Steps up to the plate Mr MC Hammer Pants/ Adam Venture.

This particular chapter of the game surprised me for two reasons.

1) I did not think this was possible, but they somehow have worked out how to make every back drop even more vibrant and blinding than the first episode. Seriously you nearly have to wear sunscreen just to play certain scenes outside.

2) The developers who must have learnt there history from a pop-up book, somehow made a even bigger blunder than the previous episode. Are you ready for this one???

King Solomon spends vast millions upon millions creating booby traps and puzzles that will do your head in, to hide not treasure, but to hide his writings. Because apparently to Solomon his wisdom was greater than his treasures. Whats wrong with this premise? Have you ever heard of the book of Ecclesiastes? No booby traps needed to read that book. Jeez.

Chapter 3: Revelations (2012)

First, this instalment has nothing to do with the book of Revelations in the Bible. Instead the title is in regards to the character discovery that a gamer will get to experience as he plays what begins as a prequel. The title also further hints to a secret agenda the evil Clairvaux Corporation has which gets revealed at the end of the game.

After the first two instalments of this game I was kind of expecting that I would go blind with this one by all the bright colours that would be radiating from my screens monitor. Kind of disappointed they toned it down a little and I won’t need that expensive eye laser surgery after all.

I also expected them to make a bigger blunder in this episode than what they made in the previous two. Something absurd like the four horsemen of the apocalypse would turn out to be a merry go round at Chernobyl or something like that, but as stated before this has nothing to do with the book of Revelation and what information they do subject us with is at least plausible.

It seems that those at Vertigo have improved over the years, and time and time again have reacted to feed back by looking at how they can make things better. I agree with a friend of mine and will be forever interested where they will send us next. Noah’s Ark? The disappearance of the Assyrian Army? The graves of the Nephilim? I’ll have to wait and see.

A final comment I would like to make is that I personally had some issues with one of the instalments thanks to a graphics card issue, but those at Vertigo were very quick and efficient is sorting out the issue. In an ever growing market where technical support is nearly extinct, I find that good customer service is just as golden to me as any game with top notch graphics and sound. Vertigo= Great customer service and for that I applaud you the most.

This was my #100th review Thanks for reading.

This is the first game in my library I'm not recommending. The controls are really irritating and part way through the game I could not get through a door fast enough so I was stuck there for hours. Finnally just gave up and deleted the game.

I didn`t like this game because of the lame dialogue, dry humorless humor, and the strange glitchy mechanics. I found it boring and was also very disappointed with the creators for repeating the same exact puzzle, setting, and sequence three times in a row. Adam (the male protagonist) rides a mining car down a tunnel, enters a cavern, completes a giant maze, and solves a pzzle when he has to deactive a bomb three times in a row with no variations to the room or setting in anyway. Sure the way through the maze and solution to the bomb puzzle are different but it is the idetical maze and room. This was a lazy move made by the creators. Adam's constant belitteling of Evelyn (female protagonist) was incredibly anti-feminist, humorless, and made it even more painful to listen to the poorly written dialogue (there were instances where Everlyn repeated dialogue from past scenes).

This is the first game in my library I'm not recommending. The controls are really irritating and the only reason it shows as hours more gameplay than I've actually done is because you can't save and exit. So I had to leave the game running a few times, I'm an acheivement hunter so though I still intend to finish, I would never recommend this to anyone.

It's rare you find a game series that honors God and has decent graphics to boot! Lots of puzzles that require logic, mathematics, and deductive reasoning. Hard to find because many companies feel that gratuitous violence, filth, and sexual innuendo is the only way to make a buck.

What is even better? The company will soon be releasing another installment called Adam Venture: Origins- YAY!

This is a bit like the old Tomb Raider, with less action and better puzzles. The puzzles themselves, for the most part, are quite easy once you understand what you have to do. That said, the ones in the last chapter, took me much longer and I didn't enjoy it as much.

Last Review of 2015. CARE SPOILERS! I replayed this game (last year november i did the 3 chapters 1 by 1). This game is still for the budget fascinating, the story (Eden, Adam and Eve(lyn APPLEby, a dark shadow that waits for the wrong turn/ choice like a snake and Salomon temple, family tree and biggest treature (SPOILER! WISDOM? BOOK!) is unique, the graphics for a small studio is good and detailed. The places are fine, the puzzles are well balanced and the end shows what is important. I still hope for a second part maybe find Noahs Ship or the Ark of the Covenant with the Decalogue? I would find it great. Sound is okay. So decide wisely to buy or not and when yes how much. Dont get disappointed because you dont like the genre or dont understand the story backround good enough. Simple games like this makes my childhood so great. No super graphic but flair of mysterious. Sure could be more and the price is to high for the game but developer invest many time, money and skills to get it. So i thanks all developers in the world for a great time all time i played. I give this INDIE title 90 % for me, but the game has weakpoints like the jumping system and others. Watch trailer, lets play and think 2 times before you buy it, then its your fault no one else. Thank you for reading.

Adam's venture is a good game for those who want are curious about the Bible, this game isn't too bad in gameplay and most of the puzzles aren't too difficult. This game isn't worth the full price though, it's better if you wait for a sale as this game is pretty short, you could probably just finish it in a single sitting if you tried hard enough.

Also if you don't care about the Bible, and only care about achievements, this is probably the easiest(and probably fastest) 45 achievements you can get on Steam. A majority of them are story related and the rest is for interactng with random stuff enough times.

A fairly decent series of games to spend an afternoon on.

I bought these games a while ago and just today decided to give them a go. To my surprise, the original series of games has been taken off of the store page and placed back on as one complete game, “Adam’s Venture Chronicles”. Which Steam has kindly given me a copy of as well.

Seeing as I can’t review the separate episodes anymore, I’ll review them as a whole here. So despite my 5 minute playtime for Chronicles as of right now, I have played them! I will surely be saving Chronicles for if I ever want to revisit the trilogy. Which, isn’t entirely impossible.

With a total of 7.7 hours put into completing them separately, These games are fun and definitely the kind of game I was craving today, but I’m not going to hype it up too much.

The very first thing I noticed about these games was that you don’t control the camera. The camera pans and follows you. I got used to it very quickly and was actually surprised with how well it worked. But it made the games feel all the more linear. The game is linear as it is, but not even being able to look around kind of supresses the sense of exploration even more. I don’t particular find it a problem, I just thought it was worth mentioning.

As for the graphics in general, given how long ago the first episode came out (2009), I would say it looks pretty decent. It definitely has its moments.

The Puzzles are probably one of the most interesting parts to these games, they are interesting and fun to figure out, without being too mind bogglingly difficult. It’s always nice to see some new unfamiliar kinds of puzzles.

The characters are okay but nothing special. Admittedly the main character Adam did have me smiling a few times. The cocky, full of himself, almost arrogant, yet somehow still charming, character reminded me of the Deponia series’ “Rufus” in quite a few ways.

Despite me thinking the characters themselves were alright, the voice acting generally isn’t the best quality. A few scenes made me cringe a little, but then again others I quite enjoyed. Just something to be wary of.

In terms of story it’s definitely playable and has its interesting parts. It doesn’t bore you to death but it’s definitely nothing too in-depth or profound. As far as I can tell it’s based around Christianity. I know very little about religious kinds of things so maybe for someone who follows the faith, this actually might be more interesting/clever? Either way, I still enjoyed it.

In terms of achievements, this would definitely be an easy 100%. Fortunately for me, playing them all separately, I managed to get 3 perfect games out of it. Each episode’s achievements were pretty straight forward to get. The majority are progression achievements, although there are some in there you can easily miss, so watch out.

All in all, this game is nothing amazing but it’s definitely worth playing. Anyone that likes adventure/puzzle games might get something out of this. It has a Tomb Raider kind of feel to it, with less emphasis on the platforming elements.

TL;DR : Decent third-person adventure/puzzle game, it’s fun, challenging and can be completed 100% in under 8 hours. Despite it looking fairly old it definitely holds up. I’d say it’s worth a go.

Adam's Venture is a really interesting game for those interested in history or just curious about the Bible. The game is easy indeed, logical obstacles can be overcome just in a few minutes of thinking, so difficulty is not the point in this game. For me, how I see it, Adam's Venture is a educational way of modern game-teaching of the bible stories and in this aspect the game achieved its goal.

About story - Adam is a 1920's Indiana Jones in a nutshell.

Over average.
6/10

(Don't look at the play time, I had finished all three parts before it was turned into chronicles)

DISCLAIMER: I played the three episodes before Chronicles. If you wish you can read the original mixed reviews of each of them at E1, E2 and E3.

TL;DR: Archeology-themed puzzle adventure game provides fun and challenging mental puzzles for several hours with a moderate story and annoying main character.

The new owners of the Adam's Venture IP are swell people: they provided Chronicles to everyone who owns the original three games. It's a good thing: there's very little difference to the originals aside from requiring to play it in order. Is it a good game though? Let's find out.

You are put into the overconfident boots of Adam Venture, an archeologist whose personality will likely both annoy the hell out of you and keep the story light-toned as he can at least be ridiculous in fun ways.

Story begins as Adam and pals have supposedly found the lost location of the Garden of Eden. Flying there with the plane provided by the generous Clairvoux Corporation, you get trapped inside the maze of caves and have to solve logic puzzles and biblical phrase puzzles to proceed.

Yup, it's one of those Christian Games. Despite that, only the theme and ancient places are religious - the characters and the story are not and religion is not shoved down your throat. That said, knowing something about biblical stories might make the story more enjoyable because of the references. Text puzzles appear only in the first third (Garden of Eden) of the game though, and you can always guess the correct order of the phrases.

Most of the puzzles are different logic puzzles. There is mixing dynamite, solving labyrinths and elaborate locks. There is fixing machines, lockpicking and wiring electronics. Puzzles are very varied and they get more challenging along the way, which is great. The puzzles in the end can be seriously challenging - I used a couple of hours to solve one (number lock puzzle) in my original playthrough, needlessly devising multilinear equations for what turned out to be a relatively simple puzzle once I saw its logic.

I think only one puzzle (music puzzle in Garden of Eden) was illogical to me and that might be due to myself not knowing certain myth from the Bible. This was probably the only part where that might be kind of required, unless I simply missed a vital clue. I had to bruteforce it by trying every combination. In other parts the puzzles could be solved by thinking or simply trying enough combinations, iterating towards the right answer. Some knowledge of simple math and skills of pattern recognition make it easier and probably also more enjoyable.

From the trailer it looks like a 3D action adventure but fortunately it isn't one, because the shadow effects are weak. This remains an issue in Chronicles as it was in the Episodes. While it looks fine enough, the environment does not react correctly to the dynamic lightning like torches. This manifests so that Adam and all the characters cast dynamic shadows but the environmental objects like stones or stalagmites do not even though light illuminates them correctly. Specifically, Adam's shadow might be hanging on the ceiling like in mid-air, because the stone he's standing on does not cast a shadow.

This is fortunately a minor issue but it makes it difficult to find some secret areas and in the (thankfully few) platforming and swinging blades sections it's difficult to see the direction where you are supposed to jump towards or assess the blade's path. Also fortunately dying just respawns you back at the same section, so at least you lose nothing because of the death. Only if Evelyn is with you do you need to hear her scolding voice saying "Adam!" in that particular way that's akin to "Stop dying fooling around!".

Like said, Adam is an annoying guy. He boasts that he's awesome and he sure does have a knack for alternative solutions (like a true adventure game character should). Evelyn, his companion character, shows that she has much more common sense and the contrast is actually pretty funny. Nevertheless, Adam belittles her all the time like a tool he is while at the same time hitting on her. I found this very annoying but satisfyingly enough he gets called for it.

Adam and Eve(lyn) is of course a play on the story of Genesis and it's used in the Garden of Eden as a joke. Myself, I found Garden of Eden (the first episode of the series) to be the weakest part of the game. After that it gets much more interesting as the deviousness of the Clairvoux Corporation begins to unfold.

My original playthrough of the Episodes lasted 10 hours altogether (it took only 6 hours for this replay). Of course, now there's an option to play any sub-chapter again after you have played it through to go for those elusive achievements. Controller support has been improved, though sometimes the pad buttons appear on the HUD instead of the keyboard keys.

It's a decent adventure game with some good, challenging puzzles and an okay story. The differences to the original Episodes are very small so if you've played them already, you can only play this for a rerun or the achievements. For the rest of you I can't recommend it for the full price but at 50% or 75% discount it's good enough a tale.

If you played the episodes separately when they were still available, there isn't really any difference between them and Chronicles apart some puzzles being graphically enhanced.

However, for those who never had the chance to play it before, here's what I think of Adam's Venture: Chronicles.

Adam Venture is a young man, a bit sexist (you have to understand that we're in the '20, meaning that in our modern society, some of us will be offended by that characteristic), having found the key to the Garden of Eden. Trying to impress his father's assistant, Evelyn Appleby, he doesn't know that he will live a real adventure, even making him reminiscing the two years earlier.

The main goal of the first chapters is to discover some tales from the Bible, after that, it's more centered on the fun and gameplay than the Bible. The story is a good little one, if only there wasn't a problem in the chronology: it seems that Adam discovered the location of the garden the same year he's stuck in, yet, the flashback shows that it was three years earlier.

Besides, the fact that Adam is a bit sexist: you can see that Evelyn is more mature than Adam. But I don't know if this side of him is his way to show that he cares a lot about her or if he's really like that. Also, Adam is the comical relief of the game: he's thinking that he's the best but in a theatrical manner.

The gameplay is simple as it's an adventure game: you solve puzzles mainly. They're not hard but also not so easy. I can't really say it's flawed but when you have weird camera angles, your job is harder than before.

The graphics would be called outdated in our world, yet, I love them. I largely prefer the atmosphere in the Eden story, more mysterious. But the others chapters are also very good - I liked less the flashback in France.

The soundtrack is also fitting to the game and the voice acting isn't as bad as you could expect. Maybe the Clairvaux chief is perhaps a little too much in his arrogance but it can still pass.

20 bucks is probably too much for the collection, as the episodes were known to often be in weekly sales at 1,24 euros. So, if I was you, I would wait for a good discount.

But I've enjoyed Adam Venture a lot so, I can only recommend it... if you can get past Adam's little sexist side.

Looking like a solid puzzle adventure type game!

Been playing it for a little while, liking the controlls and smooth transitions between areas. Puzzles are fun,

It kind of gave me a vibe for a old school Tomb Raider game, without the pixelperfect platforming (thank you!). It's a compliment, I loved those games and I'd want to see more of them pop by, glad this one came along. Almost completely missed it!

Possible Improvement:
- A way to look around the rooms better? (Might have skipped the possibillity tho, or not there yet). But i'd like to explore the caverns a bit more.

This is a bit like the old Tomb Raider, with less action and better puzzles. The puzzles themselves, for the most part, are quite easy once you understand what you have to do. That said, the ones in the last chapter, took me much longer and I didn't enjoy it as much.

Pretty cool puzzle/maze style game.

There are a lot of mazes, problems and puzzles that you need to solve throughout the game to let the story come to an end, some of them are quite tricky and seem to have little logic and some are pretty straight forward. Mostly trial and error but they are fun and its a good game that i would play more of if the series was/is continued. Enjoyed the game

Adam's Venture Chronicles bundles the three original episodes in one package so it's a pretty solid deal. The puzzles are interesting and can be quite challenging and the graphics are very decent, especially considerign the first episode was released five years ago. The game suffers from bad dialogue and unconvincing voice-acting, but beyond that it's pretty enjoyable. If you're looking for an old school adventure game with an interesting setting I can recommend it.
