What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“When we started Doom & Destiny in 2011, we wanted to make the rpg we always wanted to play. During the years, Do&De managed to build an awesome community where fans supported us with their ideas and tips.
With Doom & Destiny Advanced we want to make an incredible rpg! A tribute to the classics of the genre and a big "thank you" to all our fans who helped us getting here!
The game features an expanding huge world with tons of content, secrets, characters, monsters and unique cross-platform online features that need your help to became awesome!
This time we are making the rpg YOU always wanted to play ;)”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The Early Access will go through three main phases:
  • Bug fix and gameplay mechanics tuning, everything need to run smoothly;
  • Improvement of thecurrent part of the story with dialogues, sidequest and secrets;
  • Game expansion with further story and content development.
After phase one, we will launch the mobile version so that we can test on a larger scale the online cross-platform features.
Once phase three is completed, we will exit the Early Access and keep supporting with new content the full release.
We hope finish the game by the end of the year / early 2016.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Aside from the obvious bug fix and gameplay tweaks, the full version will feature:
  • Bigger world and longer story;
  • +5 new classes and costumes;
  • +2 business for Alchemy and Stuff;
  • Improved online cross-platform PvP Arena features;
  • Improved online cross-platform Co-op Mercenaries;
  • Online cross-platform PvP Robbers (create custom troops and traps and ambush your friends);
  • More sidequests and nerdy stuff!

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Right now, Doom & Destiny Advanced features a 8h-14h story long (it depends on how nerd you are). It has been well tested and played and it's in a pretty stable state BUT being in Early Access, you should expect some occasional trouble like crash, save files corruption and fun stuff like that.
The story is not over and will be further developed once we reach the "phase three" of the Early Access. Some of it's cross-platform features need tuning and, most of all, a friendly interface. We will work together with your feedbacks to improve it!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“It will probably grow. We follow the "Mojang strategy" which will increase the price of the game as features are added to the product :)
If you want to get it for cheap, get it now!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Communty feedback is essential to Doom & Destiny Advanced!
We will collect bug report, comments and tips from the STEAM COMMUNITY of Do&De Advanced.
We will put all those feedbacks on TRELLO where we will keep players and fans updated to our develop efforts. There, people can vote the feature they want to be developed or optimized first.
We will also use Doom & Destiny official FACEBOOK page to keep everybody update on the development of the game.”

About This Game

WHAT IS DOOM & DESTINY ADVANCED?

Doom and Destiny Advanced is a hilarious IRPG (italian role-playing game... 'cause we are from Italy) where you control the destiny of four nerds through an epic journey in an unpredictable fantasy world.
Do&De Adv is the sequel, prequel and reboot of Doom & Destiny. It features a huge world map, awesome action-packed turn base combat, crazy party customization, talkative npcs, cross-platform multiplayer, secrets, gags, nerdy jokes and an ever-expanding storyline!

WAIT WHAT? SEQUEL, PREQUEL AND REBOOT?

Oh yes! It's a "sequel" because it's the second installment of the "Doom and Destiny series". The four nerds from Do&De are back for some epic rpg action!
It's a "prequel" because it's set in a timeline preceding the events of Doom & Destiny, BUT it's also a "reboot" because while using the same premise and the four main characters, a similar world and some characters from Doom & Destiny, it tells a brand new story set in a different timeline and even dimension than Doom & Destiny. Much like the "Zelda" series has been doing in the past 20 years :D So don't be afraid if you haven't played Doom & Destiny! You'll be able to fully enjoy this game by it self, but if you played Do&De, you'll enjoy it even more!

WHY ON EARLY ACCESS?

Role playing games are HUGE and we want to do things right!
The first time, with Do&De, we were 2 smelly dweebs in a basement making the rpg of our dreams.
But this time we washed ourselves, used deodorant and now we want to create an even bigger and better adventure! YOUR help can make this happen since YOUR support and ideas can make this game grow and become awesome!
Buying the Early Access of Doom & Destiny Advanced you'll be able to play the game right from its glorious beta state AND get the full game and all its updates once it will be ready!

OK, COOL, SO WHAT'S NEW IN DO&DE ADVANCED?

  • Custom made graphic, music and game mechanics (this is for who played Do&De)!
  • 15 hours of brand new comical and ever-expanding storyline!
  • Huge world to explore filled with secrets, fun lore and crazy monsters!
  • Full freedom of hero's stats customization at each level up!
  • 15 Classes (and more to come!) to change the role of each nerd: from wizard to sorcerer, from thief to cook!
  • 22 Cosplays! Change your hero's outfit!
  • Dynamic turn based combat with mid turn reaction and counter attacks!
  • 150+ Special Powers!
  • 200+ Mean Monsters!
  • 500+ Locations!
  • 60.000+ Words of Text!
  • Online cross-platform PvP and Co-op! Summon your friends's party to fight with or against them!
  • Burp into noblemen's face and blow-up chickens!
  • Nerds never die :D

The first Doom and Destiny was an unexpected strike of liquid gold. Despite its generic RPG Maker graphics and sometimes poor translation, it came out swinging as one of the best turn based RPGs since the SNES era. The sequel, however, leaves much to be desired. This review is while the game is still unfinished, but there are some glaring issues not related to bugs, balance, or the unfinished story.

PROS:
- Custom graphics that while cartoony, fit the tone of the game quite well.
- Class system has the potential to be interesting, especially when used to find secrets and navigate terrain.
- Clever introduction to a story: the game functions as a parallel universe to the original story, which has the potential to make a very interesting tale.

CONS:
- The characters fall flat to the original. This is a big problem, as the charm of the dialog was what made the first game so damn good. Toilet humor rules the day in this sequel, and the characters just don't have much in the way of banter, 4th wall breaking, or personality. I played the whole time waiting for Mike to say or do something really zany, but it just never happened.
- The story quickly goes nowhere. Interesting ideas like the frog king trying to marry the characters off to his daughters is quickly brushed aside into a boss battle. Instead this game just seems to have a very generic RPG story with a few eccentric ideas used in the background.
- The class system feels too constrictive. You basically have to dump all your resources to get a decent level for one class per character, leaving the other classes woefully underpowered. This kind of class system would be really good if you could switch between them more liberally and usefully.
- Equipment management is gone. Characters now auto-equip items and there’s no ability to customize your characters in this regard. This is a huge disappointment, as managing equipment is a big part of any RPG, and leaves the full burden of customization to the class system, which is poorly executed.

Overall I’d say this game needs a lot of work to be anywhere near as enjoyable as the first game. As-is, I stopped playing after a dozen or so hours, not because I reached the end of the content available at the time, but simply because I was getting bored. For now, this sequel is simply a disappointment.

This game has been a real joy so far and I haven't found any flaws at all. The graphics are on point, the story from my view is enjoyable and the humour is hilariously funny with tons of relatable references. The combat system + leveling system is really in depth. I like the fact the developers added classes for characters it reminds me of the FFX-II class system. The other thing I enjoyed when playing this game is I constantly feel like I'm playing dungeons and dragons the game really gives off that vibe even though it has jrpg style combat. If I were to reccomend improving anything so far it would just be to maybe make the game a little tougher so that the enemies take longer to kill. I think at the present it is a little too easy and making the enemies a little tougher would make the game time longer to. I say that because I don't want the game to end I just wanna keep playing though haha.

This isn't a review, but rather a recommendation vote for others to try this game.

It has more Doom & Destiny goodness with endearing Earthbound-like graphics.

Typos abound, and a little stint with the menu nearly convinced me that I had lost my savefile when it reverted to a new game. Still, they're nothing game-breaking.

Judging from the developer's enthusiasm and dedication to the original game, this game will certainly improve and expand over time.

With the blessings of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Nigel, Francis, Johny and Mike are back, and with a new rules set! Doom & Destiny: Advanced looks to raise the bar and add another insane adventure for you to feast upon. With all new features including classes, revamped abilities, cross platform play, and more! At the heart of the game though, what matters most is the humor and joyous spirit that was so perfectly captured in the first game. Does Do&De2 capture that? I believe so, with the theme being multi-dimensional versions of our main heroes. From the combat system to item management, everything has been streamlined for ease of use and getting to the fun and adventure. The game still does feature quite a bit of customization; stats, classes, and even appearance are yours to tinker with and change. Making a version of the party that is truly unique to your play style is one of the key focuses of Do&De2. The best part is that there is more to come, with new features being cooked up and added all the time. There is still some bumps on the road mind you, some grammar fixes, lack of start up menu, repetitive music. None of the former really stop the game from being an enjoyable experience. So gather your swords, staffs, and spatulas?
Damn Francis.
Ahem... Its time to kick ♥♥♥ and get some sweet loot in Doom & Destiny: Advanced

I made a video preview to show off some of the features and gameplay of this game!

I hope you enjoy!

Yah, their grammar isn't always great and.....well that's really the only negative I could give the game. And even still it's not always a negative as some of the dialouge is equally hilarious for it's grammar errors.

Doom and Destiny the first was an outstanding throwback to the classic top down rpg with, what I thought, great system for character development and a simply entertaining plot. The oppurtunity to get back into Doom and Destiny with a new installment is simply awesome.

It's an early access game so obviously a ways to go to the finished product but heres my list:

Pros:
- Cross platform saves: Love being able to go from my laptop to my phone seamlessly
- Neat class system
- Same comedic element I enjoyed in the first Do&De (though needs some help in the grammar/spelling department still)
- Arena feature is a nice change from the conventional method of grinding levels, though I seemed to power through leveling a little too fast

Cons:
- Multiplayer arena duels have a ways to go I think. Right now, you are only fighting AI controlled replica's of other players parties. Given the wide range of diversity in group builds the class system allows, would look forward to live battles with other players
- Early access so a little short on the play time but impressively diverse world and content so far

Based on my experience playing the first Do&De, I expect this will turn out to be a great second installment in the series!

Do you like Games, RPG's, JRPG's, Animes, Cartoons and anything nerd Related... Well Playing Doom & Destiny is like Taking the show Big Bang Theory and turning it into a Video Game.. throwing in some Amazing drugs.. Then turning the giggle meter by a Factor of 10! Now they added Ways to torment over Co-Op.. Via Robbers( to torment) and Mercs ( to help)... My wifes so going to hate me... This game is worth buying. If this plays out like the Original D&D I would not push it for kids.

So far with it being Early Access the developers are on the ball and communicating with their Stalkers.. I mean.. Dedicated fans.. in making this game Amazing and error free!
