This movie is strictly for the AVGN fans. If you've never heard of him, stay away from it.

There are moments you will find this funny because it feels like you're watching James during the golden times when he used to review games.
The story line and everything... well, I guess they were drinking beer and smooking weed, jokingly writing everything on a piece of toilet paper with dump and decided to put everything together in action with 5% of the proper budget.
At moments, you notice that all the ideas were thrown at the same time in a way that it is imposible to understand what the ♥♥♥♥ is going on.
You may basically see a little of AVGN in the beginning of the movie and in the very end when he reviews E.T.
The most disappointing is that the idea of the movie is GREAT, you can tell it as soon as you start watching, but unfortunately, it was VERY POORLY put together!
Even being corny most of the time and with the low budget, I am pretty sure this could have been a lot better.
Were I AVGN, I'd have delayed this movie for at least 2 more years.
Overall, a great disappointment for me!

While the movie is clearly poorly made. I find it to be a throwback to poorly made movies from the 20th century that were still good, and one that were awful. Godzilla is the best example of this because of Death Mwauthzyx . I recomend this to fans of AVGN, but not if your not into Godzilla (or other movies of that nature)

This is the best indie-gaming movie I've ever had the pleasure of recieving a gift. James Rolfe has never looked or sounded better, amazing or original. The film feels like an acutal AVGN review with it's unique story style and bringing the somewhat "unrealistic characters" into the World of the Nerd. The only flaw is the title for "EeeTee". Did they even look into the Fair Use Policies? Cooper, the Nerd's manager and best friend, was a bit of a stretch as well. The film simply could've done without him (it probably would've saved James some money too). Other than that, Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie is Perfect! First R-Rated film I've ever seen too. Thank you so much James Rolfe for making this movie happen.

I can kind of see where the hate/disappointment comes from, but I guess that's the pattern with crowd-funded movies/games: They get so hyped to the point where people get excited beyond reason. After two years of it's release, I FINALLY got around to seeing it and I LOVED IT. I think the thing is people wanted it to be more of a nod to video games, but it ended up being more of a nod to films. It's one of those films that's really not meant to be taken seriously (especially since the opening includes the Nerd throwing a game into a trash can and the trash can explodes.)

I loved the film, and it does have a few moments with bad green-screen (mainly Cooper's introduction) but the rest of the green screen is REALLY well-done, and all of the moments that look bad were MEANT to look bad. It's a self-aware comedy, but not the kind of self-aware that the Scary Movies pull and looks at the audience, winks and says "Yes, this is stupid." AVGN The movie just lets the craziness happen, and I LOVE that about it. It's meant to be a fun comedy that never takes itself overly serious, and it's immersive in it's plot and story-telling.

The effects are also pretty good for a rather small budget. Yeah, there are moments where it's obvious it's a miniature or a guy in a suit or a dummy being thrown, but that just adds to the comedic charm, and speaking of comedy, the film does a good job of THAT, too. There were moments where I almost threw up from laughing so hard. There's even a moment in the audience reaction track (yes, I actually watch those. Shut up) where people were laughing so hard you couldn't even hear the next line of dialogue in the film.

In the end, I may have loved it, but it could just be another one those films that's truly appreciated by fans and film-makers, but I'll be up on the cinematic barricade of indie films with a musket defending this film like Jean Valjean. (Yes, that was a botched reference.)

(Besides, it's better than pretty much every YouTuber movie made by YouTube Red.)

Overall I really enjoyed this movie, and I'm glad that James Rolfe was able to fufill his dream of making a full feature length film. I'm a huge fan of the Nerd and if you are too then this movie is for you. On his website cinemassacre.com they also sell the movie for blu-ray and DVD for any of you physical media guys which is nice. The movie has really funny moments and some neat cameos like Doug The Nostalgia Critic, and Black Nerd Comedy (and don't forget about Mike and Kevin). If this movie looks interesting to you but you have no idea who or what the Nerd is about, he basically is a comedic YouTube channel about James Rolfe as "The Nerd" whos self proclaimed purpose in life is to do game reviews of sh*tty games to warn people of them so no one has to deal with them. 99% of the time he reviews NES games but he occasionally does Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, PS1, and anything in between. Heres a link to his channel on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0M0rxSz3IF0CsSour1iWmw He's come far in recent years and this movie is a monument of his success, I highly recommend it and It's well worth the price.

I'm 50/50 on this one...
100% for the fans, nothing more
I like how it was done and how corny it was (at times)... but it's like they had 2 ideas but a budget for 1 plus it felt like it was dragging by the end.

would not recommend if you are NOT a fan
and if you're a fan it's OK at best.
if anything I would say just watch Atari: Game Over (about the real landfill)

Although it was waaaay better than the SMOSH movie that one lagit gave me cancer...

A movie made for the hardest of die hard AVGN fans. I enjoy the hilarious AVGN videos on Cinnemassacre and the reviews done by Mike and James, but this movie is the worst. It's basically on par with the ♥♥♥♥ made by Asylum Films. The writing seems to have been done by fans or jokes developed in conversation which would be funny (you had to be there) when conceived, but delivery and timing are greatly off the mark. So coming off that, the worst thing about this movie is the acting. If the cast was of untrained actors, I would easily give it a pass because that would be funny but genuine. Instead, we get bad actors who think they can act.

Watch this movie to support James and Cinnemassacre. If you aren't aware of the world of Cinnemassacre, I would not recommend this to anyone.

What a shame.

As for the film itself, it is very hit and miss. If you are an AVGN fan, there are moments you will find funny. Fan or not, the storyline holding everything together is chaotic and weak. It seems some moments are in the movie merely as a plot twist, not because it makes sense or advances the story. If you can get it cheap, however, it's worth a watch.

What is unacceptable is the fact that instead of downloading the video to your PC, it requires streaming. That means if you don't have a good internet connection, good luck watching this in high definition. If they wanted to prevent piracy, they could have simply had online verification before starting the film. Instead this streaming has made trying to watch this movie a laggy mess. Plus, by the time the Steam version was released the film had already been pirated on multiple sites, it can be watched for free, so most people who are buying now are doing it to support the films creator (James Rolfe). So why punish legitimite viewers?

Went in expecting a B grade movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, and had some laughs during it and even being an AVGN fan I cannot say this movie was enjoyable as a whole. Way too many terrible attempts to pander to fans as hard as possible with jokes that fall flat compared to the ones that are actually funny. Alot of the positive reviews just seem to be people blindly loving it because they are fans of AVGN instead of seeing it for what it is. The movie just had so many cringeworthy moments it was a slog to watch. Alot of terrible characters, like the sidekick who just comes off trying too hard to act and be funny.
It does have a few charms and good bits. Like the silly, over the top and cheesy effects similar to bad but entertaining B grade horror movies and puppets that are awful but charming.
Bought the movie to suppport the AVGN as someone who enjoys his content, but could never bring myself to watch it again. Just painful.

I've seen every episode of the AVGN to date. I'm a devoted fan.

However, this movie was a load of putrid ♥♥♥♥ing dog ♥♥♥♥ shoved down my ear canal!

EDIT: Since this is the second review you see when you're on the "helpful" page, I've decided to add an actual review in here.

This movie has a horrible storyline. It's not nearly as funny as the web videos and the cursing isn't constructive. It just seems like it's a try-hard fan-made movie. The effects are putrid, but that was expected from a low-budget film like this. It's just ♥♥♥♥, stay away from it and watch the web videos.

Its a B movie. It was better than expected considering all the negative comments.
Regardless, in my view the Nerd deserved the small token of money this cost me anyway.

It's not as bad as everybody says it is but while watching it, I started reflecting on my life (Within the first third or so). Whenever a movie gets me to do that I shut it off. Maybe I'll come back to it and give it another chance. Maybe. And the streaming is really bad for me aswell. You may want to consider another platform to view this.
