Completed under 4 hours. This game about "After Life", you jumping in two worlds and completing rooms. Interesting concept, medium graphics, simple controls, for 2 euros, enjoyable game.

This is the same sort of platformer that you would find as a flash game on Newgrounds.com albeit with good sound design and nice art.
Pretty dull platforming with a light/dark world switching mechanic that boils down to turning on and off certain platforms and obstacles on the fly as you navigate the stage. Not enough to keep me interested for very long sadly.

Having to switch a lot of time worlds is tedious. And sometimes hitting the 'obstacles' is detected badly.
I didn't like it, it could be a bit better - for example, there could be arrow pointing were your character is, when it's out of the screen.

But generally description is quite accurate, so if you are interested in such content - pick it.
I would avoid...

Sometimes level are almost identical... and the graphic of 'spikes' is making me furious.
PS: It has polish language, but it doesn't have characters from polish language in font - like ąęćńóś and similar.

Edit: So I finished the game... And I'm really disappointed at some elements that were discovered later. If game had better feel of jumping, etc. it would be really nice.
The sounds and music and background visuals doesn't seem so bad.
Bad is gameplay and other visuals (like main character, spikes, etc.)

For the price you pay for this game and what you get out of it, makes the game totally worthwhile. :)

Alter World is a difficult platformer about a woman searching for her dog. Levels are solved by switching worlds in order to avoid obstacles.

Pros
+Interesting mechanics
+Very fun gameplay
+Challenging
+Dirt cheap
+Great art style
+Nice soundtrack
+Trading cards

Cons
-Story lacks depth
-Can be buggy at times

Alter World is a great game, especially for its very low asking price! Worth every penny and more. I would recommend this to anyone who likes platformers. It's difficult, but it's very polished and fun.

Pretty and challenging platformer
- The goal of every level is to reach the door.
- To do this, you have to alternate between 2 different worlds.
- Each world has different platforms to help you advance, or obstacles that will block your way or cause you death.
- Expect to die at least a trillion times (you have infinite lives).
- Levels involve having to change worlds and jump with extremely accurate timing and precision.
- The game recommends using a controller, but I had no problems using the keyboard at all.
- Graphics are pretty and music is soothing.
- There's no story, but you sort of get the gist that the main character is supposed to save his dog or something.
- Plays like a Flash game, but a good one.

Alter world is a very cheap puzzle game, you just jump and alter worlds to finish the levels. It basically needs so little thinking and very fast reactions to get through it. The sceney is beautiful, the story is very simple sounds are ordinary and it can be finished in three hours. If you want a challenging puzzle game or you're a fan of it you should consider giving it a go it has a very nice price tag for Its content.

The poor controls design and physics of this game makes you think your skills are bad or the controller is broken.

controls poorly. sometimes wouldnt jump when I pressed jump, movement seemed to stutter at times, and the character just feels like he doesnt want to do what I want him to do. I think the platforming requires more precision than the controls comfortably allow. deaths feel like the game needs work rather than the player needing work.

Controls are completely broken. You have to "change worlds" to make new platforms appear mid jump. The game won't accept the change worlds button if you have a direction button pressed. This isn't keyboard ghosting, it's just incompetent controls.

Alter World is a challenging and fun platforming game. The gimmick of the game is to alternate between worlds while navigating well crafted, precision platforming levels. The game itself can be challenging however due to it's forgiving nature, it doesn't feel like the game's overly difficult or frustrating. Gorgeous aesthetics and soundtrack give the game a relaxing tone, and help keep the game feel interesting, especially with new mechanics such as gravity introduced during the playthrough.

Overall the game's challenging enough for more hardcore fans of platforming games however, forgiving and interesting to help beginners such as myself, to enjoy themselves.

Alter World is a platformer that demands ridiculous precision. From jumps that can go wrong for a millimeter, to timing your ability to shift between worlds, while falling and moving trough the air in milliseconds.

At first I loved the game, it seemed fun, I mean, the music, the art, the level design, then I hated it, for it pushed me to levels I didn't know I was capable of... It was frustrating, but in the end, I was able to beat it, I completed every level, and I can say I'm a little proud of it.

Now the downsides were:

-There is no level select, so you can't replay any level after you beat it.
-The jump felt too slow for a platformer that demanded so much precision.
-The game crashed three times, still not sure why.
-There's certain achivement that requires you to beat the game from scratch, just after beating it, but there's a workaround for that one

★★★☆☆ | It was OK

Completed under 2 hours. It would be boring for a longer time, but I enjoyed those 2 hours. Interesting concept, nice graphics, simple controls, average difficulty - it has everything you would expect from such a game.
