ABOUT SHADWEN

Shadwen is a stealth-action game where the only rule is to remain unseen. Stay hidden – or the ruthless guards will kill you on sight!

Shadwen, an assassin on a quest to kill the king, has a chance encounter with an orphaned girl, Lily. She follows Shadwen on her dangerous journey, but when the ruthless guards get too close, Shadwen must take action right in front of Lily’s eyes.

Will Shadwen risk the girl’s budding trust by resorting to violence, or try and find another way while keeping her real purpose concealed?

To kill or not to kill – that is the question.

FEATURES
  • MOVE FREELY – Sneak and explore around the dark and gritty medieval province and use the environment to your advantage – use your rope to grapple onto rooftops, silently drop down from ceilings, or veil yourself in the shadows.
  • STAY HIDDEN – Pick your assassinations carefully. Avoid being seen, heard or getting caught indirectly. Suspicious sights and noises will alert the guards – use it to your benefit!
  • TIME IS AN ACCOMPLICE – Time stands still when you are not moving Shadwen, allowing you to stop at any point mid-motion. Rewind time to manipulate your past and present actions!
  • USE PHYSICS – Use physics and a freely attachable rope to drag and topple objects. Make deaths look accidental; let gravity do the grave work.
  • CREATE TRAPS AND HAZARDS – Set up traps and hazards to lure guards towards their untimely demise; discover new ways to eliminate or distract your foes by crafting items into deadly surprises, including poison traps, spike devices, decoy toys and more.
  • TWO CHARACTERS – Embrace the darkness with Shadwen and her abilities to protect Lily and create a safe passage for her.

Winner, Best Downloadable Game by GameSpot's E3 Editors' Choice Awards

"Apart from the beautiful graphics, what made the game stand out was just how spot-on everything was--whether it was the controls, the interactions between the three characters, or the puzzle-solving mechanics, it's clear the developers spent a lot of time refining the gameplay." full review

About This Game

Trine is a fantasy action game where the player can create and use physics-based objects to beat hazardous puzzles and threatening enemies. Set in a world of great castles and strange machinery, three heroes are bound to a mysterious device called the Trine in a quest to save the kingdom from evil.

The gameplay is based on fully interactive physics - each character's different abilities help the player battle an army of undead and defeat hazardous contraptions. The player can at any time freely choose whoever is best suited for the upcoming challenge or puzzle: The Wizard is able to summon objects to help solve puzzles and create new ways to overcome obstacles, the Thief uses her agility and dead-on accuracy to swiftly surprise the monsters, and the Knight unleashes mayhem and physical destruction wherever he goes.

Trine Enchanted Edition

Trine Enchanted Edition is a remake of the original Trine with dazzling new visual effects and numerous gameplay improvements!

  • Online and local co-op with up to three players
  • Mid-level saving: Save anywhere to play as long or short sessions as you like
  • Stunning new graphics based on the Trine 2 engine

Both Trine Enchanted Edition as well as the original Trine are included in the Enchanted Edition. The different versions are selectable from the game launcher. All Trine purchases have been automatically updated to Trine Enchanted Edition.

Note: The original Trine is only included in the Windows and Mac versions.

Key Features

  • 3 Heroes – Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight and Zoya the Thief, each with their own skills:
    • Wizard is able to cast physically simulated objects and levitate them in the totally interactive game world
    • Knight is a mayhem-bringer like no other, able to destroy objects and smash skeletons to pieces with his weapons, including the mighty Storm Hammer!
    • Thief can hit enemies from a distance with her accurate arrows but she also has a grappling hook to easily swing from one platform to another
  • Solve challenges and puzzles in many different ways – combine the characters' abilities and let your mind come up with creative solutions never seen before
  • Online and local co-op with up to three players
  • Characters gain experience points that can be used to upgrade their abilities
  • Fully interactive game world with life-like physics
  • 15 carefully designed and challenging levels with a distinctly unique atmosphere and graphics, including the Astral Academy, Crystal Caverns, Dragon Graveyard, Forsaken Dungeons, Fangle Forest and the Ruins of the Perished.
  • Many different items to collect - each affecting the characters' abilities
  • Well-hidden secret chests in every level
  • 3 difficulty levels to choose from
  • Amazing 19-track soundtrack composed by acclaimed Ari Pulkkinen
  • Fun and challenging Steam Achievements to unlock

I was supposed to write a longer review but I got sucked in by this game's story and graphics. The environment is truly stunning and the story, while light and not very complicated, is very interesting. Definitely a must buy for all ages!

Quite a good game, if you bought this from a sale it worths every penny and more. A platform puzzle game with outstanding graphics, nice music and a variation of actions to complete any levels. So you have some creativity here and there to clear an obstacle instead of a "fixed" way. However, I must say the replaybility isn't very clear. And for some reasons I felt like I spent a lot more time on this game than it recorded.

Trine is a fantastic game for couples. It might be fun solo but I highly recommend playing it with 3 people (2 is fine as well). You can finish it in 5 hours and it has limited replayability. If you replay with other people, its level of fun will range anywhere from amusing to downright hilarious depending on their personality and skill(same room and/or Continous Voice Transmission for the laughs). I definitely will not play this game again, however, unless someone wants to play and needs to fill out their party.

Thanks for providing such a great game, as well as remaking it into Trine 2 Engine.

Trine is a very impressive game to me. I saw it on a programme in a gaming TV channel at first. At that time, I was surprising that what a good idea to self co-op with 3 characters. Its story is good as well. It describes a great background with some cool and stylish paintings, music and most important: the great voice-over in British-style English. :D very good

Trine really is a gem of a game, and goes to show that you don't need a massive budget to produce a piece of art. Best played, with a friend, Trine can also be played alone, and is almost as much fun solo.

Featuring beautiful graphics, tight controls and relaxing, interesting gameplay, Trine sees you (and possibly a friend) take control of three characters, which must be switched between in order to complete levels, as each has their own set of skills. The physics also play their part in the puzzles, which are reasonably easy to get through.

Highly recommended if you like platformers, co-op or are just looking to try something new.

This game is unique. During the 15 game levels, you will not have time to get bored. The eternal adventure, a lot of traps, and not very difficult puzzles await you in the game Trine.
I recommend this game to those who like to spend time with your friends in a good coop game.

Interesting game, especially for couples who want to test their patience.
Colours are vivid in both versions, but as for music, I find it repetitive.
I really enjoyed playing it with my bf, so I would definitely recommend co-op play, even though I hated being (only) Knight sometimes.

P.S. I think that Steam should correlate achievements with Steam level or something else of that matter, since we all like to see those levels up. :) In that case, I would be more dedicated to complete them all.

This review is for the original, non-enchanted edition as I had already started with the original and never found the time to finish it of until now. I may go through the game again on enchanted to see what differences there are besides better graphics....and while I'm at it, I might as well go for 100% completion so that means getting the remaining achievements I haven't already got from running with the original....

Oooohhh, I don't know why I started this on Hard difficulty(but didn't change it because I don't like changing difficulty half way through a game so I stuck with it)....hahaha - guess I thought I could take the heat! Apparently not so died so many times! hahaha... Actually I probably won't bother with 100% achievement completion(But I will try to get as close to that though) as I just took a glance and one of them was completing it on the hardest difficulty, which would be the next level up from Hard as this is the 2nd hardest(unless there's harder - there's apparently hardcore mode mentioned in the descriiption of that achievement....).

Anyways, it's a puzzle, platformer, action and adventure game. That's what the genres should be, but it was tagged as only action adventure... So you start the game when the three characters collide with each other and combined into one being(I can't remember the exact details on how this happened as I started the game a couple or so years ago but never finished it), they are the Thief, Knight and Wizard. Thief's a woman and the other two are guys. So are set out to find the other two powers(I forgot what the other two were called - lol and just finished a several minutes ago! haha), you have Trine. After that, the three beings as one will seperate into themselves again.

So gameplay is you can do local coop, or coop on seperate PCs and can play each of three characters, or if you don't have people to play with you can solo it, like I did. When soloing, you can switch between the three to use their unique abilities and strengths to overcome obstacles in your way. I would imagine it would be more fun and quicker/easier if you had someone or two to play with and they control the other two characters... If you know platform type games like oldschool mario, then I don't need to explain any further as it's similar to that, with added puzzles. If not, then you basically jump and down - killing and or avoiding enemies, solving puzzles, and the screen sidescrolls for you automatically as you progress into the level.

Graphics, yeah I thought the original Trine graphics was nice and pretty with everything maxed. Had average fps of about 67-ish. The physic in this game, which uses nVidia's PhysX system, was awesome! Another one of those rare PhysX games.

Audio, well I can say that it actually made full use of my 7.2 surround sound setup - surprised as it's a sidescroller platformer type game which I would have though stereo would be enough, but nope! The atmosphere and music was great! The voice overs were cool too. Sound effects were nice. I believe it must be thanks to the EAX checkbox I ticked....

Um not sure what else to say...I liked it enough to give it a thumbs up, though some of the parts are fustration especially the timing bits and to add skeletons attacking you at the sametime that you have to avoid or and kill off....hah....the last level.....oh god......almost raged but got through it in the end! hahahaha Oh and once you've finished the game, you unlock a harder difficulty, Very Hard - which I'm not even gonna bother with(Hard was fustrating enough for me thanks!)...hahahaha...also there's a new level that unlocks which appears to be similar to the last level of the game.........................................................

So yeah....you like solving puzzles? Like a bit of adventure, action too? Do you like them platformer type sidescrolling games as well? Well this is for you!

Bought this game on discount and worth every single piece of it even though you buy on normal price. You will play an adventure to complete each stage with some puzzle using 3 kind of heroes with their personal skills, so you need to maximize each character skills to continue your adventure. As you adventuring through each chapter, you will collect exp and item. You can also leveling your heroes skills. Overall, It has nice graphics and music. VERY RECOMMEDED!!!!
