Play Dev Guy

About This Game

Being a developer for games is difficult. It's even harder when you are an indie developer. In Dev Guy, you play the roll of Warren (an independent developer) just trying to get his game on the app store before his game license expires. It sounds simple, but becomes complex quickly when his car goes missing, and his data disappears with it. Will warren get his car back? Join Warren as he tries to retrieve his game data while solving puzzles, hacking other developer's computers, breaking windows, and yelling at his friend Cabe. If you've played classic puzzle adventure games and feel the need for more, this game might be right up your alley. Using the power of the UDK, Dev Guy brings you the most graphically underwhelming game of this year.

ok, for those how went on to the review page and said it was bad, i think your missing the point. this was a dev test, i think the creators are trying to find there skill. if you want my answer: make this game again. what i mean by that is make a game about the life of a programer! and include all these minigames! this could be a quite cool game idea, and i love the charictor art style. nice job guys!

I somewhat fun short game with some minigames in it.

So it basically boils down to a dev who lost his build of his game and now tries to make one with a compilation of other things from his roommates.

The mini games are okay and there's some referenes to gaming and internet stuff.

Give it a shot if you want, but you'll probably forget it in a few days because it isn't memorable.

This game is truly a fun game to play, Who knew the life of an Idie game developer was so full little Nostalgia bomb which made me happy, despite it's short story, this game was a blast to play and infiltrating your room mates apartment was the most fun thing about this.
The message this game gave me was no matter how much bad luck you face, you can overcome it though the help of your neighbours by "Borrowing" their codes.
10/10 best 1 hour spent.

General Information
Title: Dev Guy
Genre:Adventure, Indie, Free to play
DevoloperDaniel Jonathan Bourke
PublisherProject tranquil

Plot
Warren is an indie developer who needs to deliever his project before his publisher licence expires, and he forgot his most prize pocession in his car (which gets towed and the disk was formated).
So the logical solution?
Hack the source code of the other devs in the building!
To this Warren will play their games and face a very peculiar AI.

The good
  • The humour, the remarks after each game play will probably crack a smile or two (ther' re some references to Thomas was Alone and other games);
  • The graphics;
  • The gameplay (never feels off);
  • It's free
  • Has achievements

The Bad
  • Im a picky person so if i had to tell a negative, it would be the lack of other references (if you are going satire, will not refer some games out of Greenlight - there's enough content there).

Overall
The game is funny, well rounded and it seemed like the devs had a lot of fun in doing this game, to them a thumbs up.

Good Games

Dev Guy is about the life of an indie developer who sneakily hacks the computers of his colleagues, stealing ideas to create his own game.

A great tribute to Greenlight.

I got up this morning to work on my game, saw this, decided to check it out. Suddenly I dont feel like making my game anymore.

It even has a virtual catgirl and a body pillow, this game hits too close to home.

I have quite a handful of indie games in my library, so I have a bit of a soft spot for them one might say. This game highlights the experiences, struggles, and even stereotypes that seemingly come along with the indie game development community. It's free, so you truly can't go wrong, but I think most people will really enjoy the hour or so of gameplay that they get out of this.

Better than I initially thought it'd be, but it's still pretty cringy. It's entertaining enough for a half hour and you even get some achievements to boot. Some of the jokes are okay, but others seem really forced. It was free though, so I can't really complain.

I honestly thought that this would be the worst game on steam. i only downloaded it to make fun of it. it turned out to be a provocative game that goes through the struggles of every indie developers life. It has both laughs and tears and will make you want to die at some points. It is all worth it in the end because you get to help one developer live out his life long dream of publishing an indie game. Also you get a prize at the end.

Some cool insider jokes (bronies/pony fandom, Phil Fish & Fez, the repeating dull patterns in action games, etc.). Nice parody of today's programming & publishing process of video games, it's free, it's fun for about 30-45 minutes, it's small (around 600MB): seriously, just try it.

If the developer reads these reviews: congratulations on your Steam release from a fellow aspiring game developer/programmer :)
