Content creation (paid job)

Hi all,

We are pretty much busy with work on AOF3, therefore I thought I will ask for help.

We will need a person (or few) who can create some dialogues for us. By a dialog I understand something like this:

Kara: Percival, don't disturb those hornets.
Hornets: Bzzzzz bzzzz....
Kara: Gosh! A, why you have to be so dumb? Is that your helmet that absorbed your mind?
Kara: Come here, take it off!

There are 4 campaigns in total, each 15-20 levels. We require about ca. 10 medium-size opening dialogues (4-8 lines) and about 25 (2-5 lines) situational dialogues for each campaign.

That makes ca. (10+25) x 4 = 140 dialogues total.

Requirements:
- you own AOF1 and 2 and have finished them and understand AOF world
- you have a good English and some sense of fantasy humour
- you will finish job within 2-3 months

Please mail me at:
support@age-of-fear.net

and we can discuss in more details. I have budget 500 USD for that.

Update released (v4.3.1)!

Hi all,

There are some visual improvements and a couple of new features:

  • update: shop tutorial in presentation dialog
  • update: permanent wounds can be cured (for 100 gp)
  • update: Demon's Lover campaign has more gold (6.2k to 8.5k)
  • update: Deathseeker/Master difficulties differ only in disabled save games and enabled permanent wounds
  • update: Blinded is -2 Attack and -3 Ranged Attack
  • update: Enhanced Weapon/Armour upgrades cost gold as well as experience
  • update: Summoned imps and terrors can break free (no more summons spamming)
  • bugfix: hidden items are not visibly targetable by area attacks (e.g. Fireball), but will be hit anyway. Once damaged, marker will show
  • bugfix: conversations were sometimes messing up units stats (race condition)

AOF3 is coming all together quite nicely. I have already asked for making video trailer. I am still adding more extra bits, but from our side it's just polishing story, testing and balance only (but it takes more time than you think!)

Valve has updated its shop layout and algorithms, you can read it about there:
http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/291118/Steam_Discovery_20_analysis_Valve_shares_latest_metrics.php

Consensus between indie devs is that it lowered their sales somewhere around -25% to -30%. However, as so far we haven't been affected by this - I don't really know why. I see two explanations:
  • AOF series has very supportive community and it's not that dependant on Steam exposure algorithms. Many thanks to all you guys!
  • Age of Fear is quite unique product even in its own niche. There are only a handful of games with similar and most of them are quite dated and no longer developed.
  • We have had a couple of new features released over X-Mas period and that's probably shielded us (i.e. keeping game fresh).

Thank you guys and have a nice week!
Les

Reviews

“Age of Fear succeeds because of its combat: using units to protect fragile allies, incorporating hex-based mechanics without the geometric restriction. The result is some satisfying strategy (...)”

Feature List

  • Two long scenarios - play as an evil necromancer or a noble knight in story driven campaigns!
  • Hex-free battle system - units are no longer constrained to artificial grids. Unit's size matters too.
  • Easy to Play but Hard to Master - Age of Fear is very easy to pick up but with deep and emergent strategy.
  • Low hardware requirements - the game will even work on that old laptop of yours.
  • Permanent death - all characters that fall in a battle will stay dead - unless an evil Necromancer raises them as Zombies!
  • Diverse enemy roster - game features 160+ unique units with over 250 different spells and skills.
  • AI behaviour is modelled on a neural network system and influence maps. Age of Fear has probably one of the most advanced strategic AI's ever created!
  • Items and artifacts - there are over 100 unique items in Age of Fear, which are randomly distributed. Items not only give bonuses, but also unlock powerful skills and spells.
