Fix for game not starting! [3/15/2016]

Hey everyone. If your game wasn't starting (before March 15, 2016) I have pushed a fix to Steam. Your clients should update pretty soon.

I deeply apologize for any problems or frustrations this has caused you guys.

To be entirely honest, I had no idea that these Steam forums existed before today. However, I cannot blame it on that, I blame it on my lack of testing a build before pushing it to Steam. This will not happen again.

I will try to keep a closer eye on these forums and have opened forums for this and the rest of my future projects. http://forum.wanderingcorgi.com/

I hope you guys can forgive me!

There isn't much to say about this game so I was going to write up a short list of pros and cons to sum it all up, but after a few moments of consideration I realized that there were no "pros" to share.

The game is cheap, especially so on sale. I picked Scribble Space up for half a dollar hoping it would be a short, casual sidescrolling shooter I could play through without much effort. Now that I've played it a short while, I know that if this game were freely available online, I would not have played it for more than a few seconds. Since I paid for it I felt inclined to at least get my money's worth, but this is one of the few times I have legitimately regretted a purchase on Steam. Again, it wasn't much money in the first place, but this game is much more frustrating than it is fun.

Though the concept is simple, the gameplay issues are too frequent and obvious to overlook. The player hitbox isn't made clear, which makes creatively designing your own ship more dangerous to the gameplay than it is fun. Taking damage removes all your power ups, and this really wouldn't be a problem if the hitbox made more sense. Even then, though, it is almost impossible to avoid taking damage in this game, rendering you without the power ups (which are rare as it is) for the majority of the time playing. Boss fights are a nightmare to deal with, and it isn't always obvious what you are supposed to be attacking or how to even avoid taking damage. Most of the time you have to hope to just get lucky and get enough shots in to defeat the boss before you die.

The game has cards and achievements, so if you want it for either of those then go ahead. Be warned, though, that one achievement requires a lot of luck and mastery of the game, so you may spend quite a bit of time playing it if you want to 100% it.

I really didn't get even an ounce of fun from this. For ship-based shooters, I enjoyed Revolution Ace much more. It had a progression system, much better visuals, etc. The shaky white lines on a 47" TV were less crafty & cute, more annoying and basic. It didn't work with my xbox360 controller, despite claim of Partial Controller support. Keyboard control was ok. But gameplay was just really boring. (0/5 stars, buy it for trading cards)

I live this game because it reminds me of a mobile game I used to play on one of those indestructable nokia phones. Any game that reminds me of something awesome is great.

This game is adorable.

Pros

- Animations, looks like they were drawn frame for frame with pencil
- Music is pretty unique I wonder what this dev made it on
- boss concepts are hilarious, but difficult like a vertical bullet hell

Cons

- You get hit once you lose buffs
- level 2 is nearly impossible to keep your buffs maintained (makes the 2nd level boss hard)

Suggestions for Dev: Change the hit once lose buffs at least allow people to redeem themselves after being hit once.

Nice little retro arcade shooter game, quite challenging.
Fight in a sidescroller hordes of bees, crabs and some weird turrets. One Boss awaits you at the end of each of 3 levels. Very unique is the scribble design and the good soundtrack. You can even draw your own ship and use it in-game. Just to earn the 20M record seems almost impossible.

Hey Coty, Elliot Rodger here.

Just wanted to say that this game is pretty cool, but you should really help casuals like me understand the draw-your-own-ship menu. I don't really get what the frames are for and how to place turrents on my drawing.

Also you've made a typo in the About This Game paragraph on the Store Page.

"action-packed arade-styled shooter!"

Alright, see ya around Coty. Stay cool.

Elliot Rodger here, signing off.

Fun little timewaster. It has a cool aesthetic and the ship customization is pretty novel. Some bugs but nothing game breaking. Collision detection is really wonky, needs a lot of work.

This is a short but sweet game. With the constant flow of enemies you can't stay in the same spot for too long, making this a fast-paced anxiety-driving game.

Pretty fun game to play if you are bored. The bosses are challenging and make the game much harder than it seems to be.

Nice game for a low price. With a few weaknesses.

Pros:
- You can draw your own ship. Even with a five frame animation.
- Campaign with 3 Levels that are quite long and a boss on the end of each level.
- Includes a boss rush.
- Good controls.
- Catchy music.

Cons:
- Strange Ship Hitbox
- Weapons feel quite weak and when you finally get an upgrade it takes one hit to remove your latest upgrade. (A shield upgrade would be nice there).
- THE BEES

Overall a nice short game. For a price of $2 definitely worth a shot.
