Now playable with HTC Vive

Hi guys :) We are happy to announce our very first build with HTC Vive support :) Hope you will enjoy InMind's world by taking a walk inside the scientific cockpit inside the human brain.

The game will auto detect plugged VR device and run on it, but if you are the luckiest man in the world and own HTC Vive and Oculus Rift and they are simultaneously plugged in one PC just use launch arguments as:

  • "InMind.exe -vrmode oculus"
  • "InMind.exe -vrmode vive"
  • "InMind.exe -vrmode none" (just regular mode without VR)

Thank you :)

About This Game

InMind is a short scientific adventure with arcade elements designed for the Oculus VR.

This first demo allows the player to experience the journey into the patient's brains in search of the neurons that cause mental disorder. Submerge into the microworld and experience the miracles of the human mind.

The future is nigh. The humanity is standing upon the brink of a new era where modern healthcare makes tremendous scientific advancements. With the help of nanotechnologies a surgical prototype bathyscaphe allows its operator to shrink to a microlevel and travel inside the patient's body.

A unique experimental project made by Nival to test the opportunities of the new Virtual Reality provided by Oculus Rift.

Features

  • Enter the microworld inside the human brain.
  • Pacify disordered neurons to stop them from spreading wrong synapses to other neurons.
  • Replay to increase your rating.
  • A very comfortable VR experience.
  • Supports Windows (VR), Mac and Linux versions.

Keys

  • Esc - exit
  • Space - recenter camera
  • H - disable helmet
  • M - disable VR-to-Screen mirroring

Tips & Known issues

Fun to play but very little replay value, still a nice free VR demo to show to your friends.

This looks like a great game. But I have now wasted 5 hours of my life trying to set up the controls for a HOTAS WARTHOG stick. Yes I have pasted in the inpu.ini info, but setting up a yaw is another thing altogether. I am unable to get the damn thing to reset to the default input.ini file. Frustration level at max. Will come back when the control input system is at least usable.

Honestly this was a really pretty tech demo. There is no support for motion controllers, it is super short, and not really a game so much as a "Hey look at this" simulator. Overall it's worth the current price of free. I wouldn't pay for it, and it has zero replay value so check it out, uninstall it, and don't look back.

A short experience that I enjoyed. Its nice to just relax to. I wish it was longer, or there was more to do. Good choice for those who can't afford games because of the price of VR.

Game is OK - super simple concept that is 100% based off of the VR headset. Only issue is you can't quite the game. Forcing it to exit (ALT-F4) locks up Steam and you pretty much have to reboot you system to get VR working again. Until they fix this and add a clean way to exit the game I can't recommend it.

This is a nice, pretty, tech demo.
Critically, a few minutes of play, even without a VR headset does trigger some nausia.

A fantastic little free VR experience that gives an amazing sense of scale. Considering this is free I would highly recommend it. ALthough I didn't suffer from it I can imagine how this may give some people a feeling of motion sickness! This would be a great demo to show off the potential of VR to friends.

Played on HTC Vive with GTX 970 and ran smoothly with no issues.

Don't. This is very likely to cause motion sickness and is nothing more than a cheap game made for a phone. Just because it's 'playable' on the vive doesn't mean it's made for VR on a PC. Mobile phone apps should not be on steam.

This worked great on my 4K monitor as opposed to VR but, only supported play with mouse and not controller. IT'S FREE and better than stuff I have paid for in the past. Nice to play a game where I am helping people as opposed to hurting them. Now the best I have been able to do is 45/50, there just is not enough time for the circle targeter to complete and allow me to shoot any faster.

InMind VR is a Rail shooter demo that takes place inside a human brain.

You're yourself (duh) and you have to detect and fix neurons causing mental disorders in a patient. That's about it, I played it with Keyboard & Mouse, it was 4 minutes long, to perfect on first run. The gameplay mechanic is very simple, you're riding a roller coaster and you have to aim (with your head if you have an Oculus Rift or with your Mouse if you don't) red targets that appear around you, as you advance.

Not bad for a demo, it's free and also, less than 250MB, so I think it’s an interesting experience.

★★★☆☆ | It was OK

A short and fun little VR demo, but it was clearly made for DK1 or GearVR and so it's not a flawless experience on DK2.

+Simple graphics work well with Rift DK2
+Great performance
+No gamepad required
+Looks strange and otherwordly

-No positional tracking
-No particles floating around
-Very short (about 2-3 minutes)
-On-Rails movement a bit awkward, could be smoother
-When it loads, everything freezes which is disorienting, bad VR practice

If it cost money I don't think I would recommend it but as it's free, why the heck not!
I have yet to see a perfect VR demo anyway, and this is better than most.

Awesome Oculus VR Experience

This is a short little virtual reality demo and game that did awesome things to my brain. The game is a roller coaster ride of dysfunctional neuron destruction. You literally ride a rail through a brain shooting dysfunctional cells by looking at them.

I like how the whole experience is controlled using the Oculus Rift, right down to menu selection. Best of all, no nausea.

Hope you like it!

Short Oculus Rift demo, but looks very cool and would be a great thing to show your friends when they want to "try out your oculus."

Basic on-rails 'educational' 'shooter'. 2/10

- Causes motion sickness.
- No difficulty. Entire gameplay consists of looking at things until they turn green.
- No educational value.
- No way to exit application on vive without taking headset off (controllers are invisible).

+ Decent graphics.
+ Short enough that you can complete it without vomiting (I've 100% completed the game).
