This seems to have been written for consoles and hastily ported to PC, which is a bit weird.

Implementation of this game is generally good but it's let down by content - the format doesn't allow for much, 2D platformer/brawlers are really a console thing. Quality is fairly high for an indy game. Support for 4K is also a plus, gameplay is very smooth, although as a 2D game it's not really touching the capabilities of PC as a platform.

Also, the controls are obviously console orientated - keyboard/game controller only, no mouse (although again, kudos to the developers for including control customisability, many people have experienced some issues with that, unfortunately).

Gameplay is fairly high brow for a consoler, you have about to worry about movement as well as parrying/attacking etc etc.

Unfortunately at the end of the day this is what very much appears to be a console game on a platform it doesn't belong on. While the price is suitably low, so is the general interest. I would thoroughly encourage the developers to move into more serious game development, the quality ethos is there, and along with that can come success, if it's aimed in the right direction.

I bought it for the cute Samurai Pizza cats-esque intro video on youtube. In fact, bought 4 copies.
However, trying to use a joystick is impossible. I can't even map directional control to the joystick. After spending 2+ hours just trying to start the damn thing and not keep running left, even after I unplug the joystick and reboot the computer and only use keyboard controls, I'm just convinced this game is broken since the last update where the control scheme was adjusted. Shame, because I bought it after the update and feel like I've been fleeced.
Using a hard wired Xbox one controller just for the record, which works for every single other game I've played.

Again, bought 4 copies to play with my friends, but I can't share this with them in this state. Removing this game and giving out the 2 extra keys I have left over. My loss, your gain, I hope someone else can enjoy it.
First come, first serve obviously..

You may need a controller for this game, it's pretty hard to play on keyboard, but it's sure if fun and addictive. Also, there is a coop.

Compared to other platform/beat-em-up games, I don't really get a good feeling of weight behind the physical attacks in Samudai. I think this game is enjoyable, but I also think it leaves something to be desired. I'm not in love with the controls, but I also didn't play long enough to truly commit them to memory, so I can't really complain there.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but I also can't use the B button to go back in the menus. The screen just sort of quickly fades slightly and then stays on the same screen. This happened once before I played and once when I was done playing and had to force quit the game in order to quit.

Fast paced PVP action with a vibrant color palette.
Controllers are by no means a must, but I recommend it.
Smooth gameplay.

This game is the perfect game to play on a lan-party. Just invite some friends over and enjoy some epic 1v1 battles.

The game itself is well made, the artwork in combination with the music and gameplay makes it a game with a unique setting. Samudai shows alot of potential but doesnt have a multiplayer through steam , so keep that in mind when you buy the game.

Pros:

- unique artwork
- fast pace gameplay
- takes some skill to win against friends
- cool gamemodes

A fun game with cool mechanics and a lovely art style.
its fun thanks to the diffrent modes.
at the moment you need to play local, which me be a turn down for many but they do have announced there will be a single player mode.
for this price at the moment i say it is worth it because of the sinlge player patch that will be coming in soon.

I like the game, it's just that there's no online multiplayer.
You can still play with friends on a local network, but it definitely would've been better if this could have been played online.

a 1-4 player fighting game with a nidhogg-like map scrolling progress component.

In samudai you fight each other in stages. A victory will earn you progress towards your teams final location - and a loss will push you back towards the opponents final location. This can either be achieved by pushing an opponent off the screan or by the opponent "drowning" twice. At the final stage your opponent will transform into a boss with HP that you must defeat.

The maps are dynamic environments. Water levels will rise, wind will blow, spirits will assail you.

Still feels somewhat incomplete but fun and original enough mechanics, not at all bad for the price.
