Tembo is now fully operational!

We apologise for the launch issues on Steam with TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT and would like to reassure users that the game is now fully operational. It will relaunch on Steam today (22nd July, 2015) at 5pm BST/6pm CET/9am PST.

The cause of the disruptions yesterday was due to a demo build being uploaded to Steam in error, rather than the full game build. This has now been rectified.

SEGA would like to apologise to any users who experienced difficulties yesterday. We take full responsibility for those issues but would like to reiterate that the problem has now been resolved.

About This Game

Shell City is plunged into a state of emergency after coming under attack from the devastating forces of PHANTOM. Terrifying war machines, emblazoned with skulls, tear through the city leaving a trail of destruction in their wake! As the National Army struggle to contain PHANTOM, General Krenman sees the mammoth task at hand and calls upon the only thing that stands between Shell City’s obliteration and its salvation; the peanut chompin’, villain stompin’, PHANTOM romping BADASS Elephantidae…TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT! Aided by his faithful avian companion Picolo, it’s up to TEMBO to jump, smash, punch, swing, and butt stomp his way through the PHANTOM hordes as he aims to bring about the end of their tyrannical onslaught. Featuring 18 cleverly designed 2D side-scrolling levels, a whole host of deadly enemies and a unique comic book style art, TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT is the heaviest action adventure of the year…weighing in at about seven and a half tons of fun.

Despite a hiccup at launch, the game is now running smoothly for me and seemingly everyone else.

The best 2D platformer since Rayman Legends. I have seen lots of comparrisons to Sonic and Metal Slug but to me it feels more like the Donkey Kong Country series. You collect peanutes instead of bananas and humans instead of coins.

Leaderboards for individual levels which is cool.

Great art direction and animation, controls...everything works. Has a very polished feel overall, not suprising since it was made by one of the most succesful game studios ever, albeit for a totally different genre of game.

Gotta catch em all! Humans and Peanuts that is. I bet elephants get pretty Ashy. That's all the Pokepuns I got at the moment.

The game actually works now.
It's actually a decent port too. (Although it was most likely made for PC first to begin with, as it uses unity.)

I ran through this game in about 5 hours, but I was really playing into it, and have played lots of platformers before. I'd recommend this game for anyone who loves a good platformer, there's a lot here for them. A steady 4/5.

What I would say, however, is that there's a lot here, but it's not used much. What that means is, that there's a lot of assets and mechanics that are in this game and they all work extremely well. There's a lot of ideas here. But there's not enough content that would let me give this game a 5/5. What I would recommend to the developers would be to offer some type of map editor or something like that. That way there's a lot more replayability, and there can be a community. I was grinning ear to ear when I got up to the third world and all of those switch and pinball mechanics came into play. However, the game abruptly ends after that without much use of the mechanics. Those interesting cactus plants in the second world only got used twice.

If I had an editor for this, I would make tons of levels. Tembo is a joy to control and has a ton of interesting moves and ways to move. The ideas for levels would definitely flow. The levels that are offered are all well constructed but they feel like examples to something more rather than a full game by themselves. After completing the game, I was only left wanting more.

Once more, I give this game a 4/5. Amazingly put together and constructed, but lacking any real replayability, and leaving the player wanting more, much more!

Looks like everything is up and running! I'm about five levels in now, it's great fun! Give it a shot. Nice to see the makers of Drill Dozer back up and running!

Ok! First things first, it's broken right now if you try to download it. There's a workaround, but you can't save your progress, but you CAN play the game.

"I fixed it on my end. This is how the files were named for me originally: http://puu.sh/j7vWG/dbfc78609d.png

And I changed them to this, and it worked: http://puu.sh/j7vXQ/fbb9bcc282.png

Just trial and error and I figured it out. When I changed the executable to "Tembo The Badass Elephant.exe" it told me it needed the _data folder to be named the same thing, so it worked out. I haven't had time to actually PLAY yet, since I was scouring these forums to see if anyone else had the problem, so I could share my solution. Hopefully saves work. I'm assuming they do since all Unity games save in the same way, and the Steam folder won't make any difference.

Good luck and I hope this fix works for you too."

Fix works, but again, you can't save. Your milage may vary!

First impressions are that this is a very lush looking game with a nice sense of movement and it's a lot of fun to crash through things!

However, due to the lack of a working system save, I've been through the tutorial level three times now, and I'm not going through it again until it's fixed. :)

I hope SEGA is able to get it together quickly and get a patch out ASAP!
