What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We really want player feedback. We'd love to hear from everyone even if they don't like something that was added or changed. Getting your feedback will help improve the game even more.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“To be determined. Pulsen is looking like a late 2016 full release at this point, but that will be delayed if necessary. We want to make sure Pulsen is a high quality game with tons of content at release.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The foundation of Pulsen has been in place since Early Access launch. At Early Access launch Pulsen had around 50 songs and Play mode.

The full version of Pulsen will have more songs (at least 90), added and re-adjusted charts, replays and friend replays, updated noteskins, improved UI/art, and in-game instructions on how to play.

OS X and Linux builds as well as DirectX 9 capabilities (over the old DX8.1) are in development and may or may not be present.

Some additional features being explored that may or may not be in game: Steam Workshop integration for custom content, and a level editor.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Everything currently listed under Key Features is available bug-free (as far as we know), just not all 100% polished. More songs and chart revisions, UI/Art improvements, and features are constantly being added.

There is also a Beta branch available through Steam where you can playtest the newest features, chart changes/additions, and other changes to the game. As beta builds become more stable, they will be moved into the main branch for all users.

*Please note that your progress may be reset when new builds are released throughout the Early Access period.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“There are currently no plans to change the price for release. We might change this idea depending on the finalization of features and content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players can test the latest features and gameplay, provide valuable feedback and ideas, and engage in discussion. Use Pulsen's Steam discussion boards, or contact the team directly via Twitter or Contact Me.”
