New Patch in the works - Battlegrounds

So, we putting this together and trying to do this as fast as we can here. Here are some facts:

- We did not run out of money, we just never had any
- We are going to bring the BG back (UE4)
- We are testing this right now
- Except a massive price drop (it will only be the BG going forward but we have some plans to make it unique)
- The store will be changing to reflect the next game
- Once we are complete we will enable sales again
- All things are very fluid right now
- MMO develop is on-hold while we look at funding options.

We did not give up.

Just a quick update

We are looking at options right now, we may put the UE4 battleground back up to play. Remember this is NOT an MMO and the MMO is on hold.

Just a little update while we sort things out on the backend.

Was a great, promising title, great Unreal Engine graphics, great action combat. 3 months and they had finally made it playable, but no content... They decided late 2015 to revert to a cheap-looking graphic engine, with tab-target non-action combat, and worst of all, horrible controls. Now sad to say as of 2016, they have officially announced their termination of development due to lack of funds and lack of motivation. I truly hoped this could be what it looked like during the Greenlight video they had submitted. But alas, it seems this game was said to be too good to be true.
Therefore, I can no longer recommend this game, as it has become yet another WoW, Aion, Lineage, and PWI.

I have watched and waited and wanted OoM to turn into something great since the first Kickstarter had been attempted. The developers clearly are very passionate about their baby and it shows. However, this has been a very difficult development cycle that has seemed to go on and on without anything nice, new or big to show for it. Early access? Yes and believe me you should take that into account when you read this review, but every change and step seems to go backwards, not forwards. Once OoM finally released on Steam in EA, there was not much to do, but the world was beautiful to look at. Slowly there were some things added but clearly it was going to be a slow process. However we now see another big change, to the Big World. Are visuals everything? No, of course not, but it has to be said, the beauty of the world really no longer exists. And sadly, there still is not much of anything to do in the world and the combat while not near complete, is to me boring at its core. AI is still buggy. For the life of me I can't find my experience bar but know I am gaining experience. After such a long period of time since the game was being developed, there should be more. The continued changes, to me, also signal a game that will never truly be what it wants. It should also be pointed out that everytime I have logged on in the past 6 plus months, I see nobody else around.

I do want to mention how passionate and helpful the developer team is. The best story I have for how passionate and helpful they are, the day OoM released, I could not log on to save my life despite meeting every requirement. That same day I had personal contact with the team to figure it out, and figure it out we did. That dedication is something I wish more teams had.

This is early access, so if things improve will I change my recommendation? Yes, of course I will. Like I mentioned the developers are clearly very passionate and not trying to simply take your money like other studios in EA. But even with that, I can't recommend this game at this time. I have waited for more patches since the initial change to the Big World, but with those I still see nothing that changes my mind at this time.

World design is outstanding. The attention to detail is stunning. I was in awe just walking around exploring watching the wind blow the trees and grass. I am anxiously waiting for a full release to better get a handle on chracters and seeing how the character development will turn out. The build that I played on was early, but nonetheless beautiful. Hats off to the developers and I cannot wait for a full release.

Shouldn't really be listed as early access. It is more of a "prototype" at this point.

At first glance the game looks amazing, the environment and characters look really alien and unique, then I find out the game was made with no funding by just a few people, it amazes me to see such quality from a game made from nothing, wonder what they can do with some funding in thier pockets.

The gerneral artstyle I find is quite unique I think its fresh to see a new take on graphics it doesnt look like every other game out there, it feels a lot more alien, the characters are really interesting, so are the armors and flora of the game. I can see a few bad models here and there but since its alpha and from reading up on what devs are saying its my understanding that things will be updated and built upon so it will look even better with more time.

The combat at first takes some time getting used to, but even though some animations are abit odd the combat feels quite good and fun, and with more updates its going to become better and better, from what they have said is they want us to help them with feedback and ideas so we are pretty much building our own game here, its like my dreams to come true, cant wait to see what more things are comming for this game.

Notice a lot of negativity around it think people arent reading on what this is atm expecting a finished game, some have fair points its not a finished game as far as i understood, but thats the fun part watching a game grow into something awezome and we get a chance to be a part of that is just so cool.

So I would recommend this game, just for the share of giving em funding to keep the server costs up and getting more developers.

So i given em help cus i really want to see this game at its peak, so many games these days not made to be fun, but this has great potential even though its not all great yet it can become so with the communitys help.

First impression: unique and good looking environment :) It is also really fun to watch the projectiles follow their targets(perfect for me - I am not a very good shot;) You still have to actually aim to hit anything or anyone, as there is NO TAB TARGETING :D (I, know, right?!), so this certainly helps, and for some reason is fun to watch. I love exploring, the two maps they have available right now are plenty big for me. Maybe too big for battlegrounds? The size should work better for the sandbox mode they are promising to add later. The two maps are filled with interesting flora, don't see much fauna yet, but the previews show creatures that will not disappoint. Can't wait to see those valleys, hills, woods, meadows, bogs get some creatures walking around. It is clearly a work in progress right now: most objects and the terrain have really well done textures, but every now and then you will encounter an object with missing textures, or doesn't look quite finished, or an object out of place. It is all good: I was warned this was "early access alpha" If all elements of the game end up being as good as the few finished elements they have right now, it could turn out to be a real gem.

This game has such a hard story. So for all who could bring life to this very promising project(IMHO), do it. It has a list of flaws but i'll give it a shot to see what devs can come up with. Right now i really liked art style and combat, it's much needed to improve, but i hope it will be done even better.

Just a warning this is a living, breathing review so it is subject to change.

I just got done with Factions: Origins of Malu and you can find a short 15 minutes first look here. (This may still be uploading)

https://youtu.be/W-dphbFbPzU

Factions looks great visually. The two maps available I think are wonderful looking. The character models are unique. The abilities that the factions have look good as well.

Now as far as what to expect. I cannot stress enough how much you need to read and research your games before purchasing them.
Please take a minute and actually read the dev's comments in the "Early Access Game" section. That is where you will decide if this is for you.

I for one am excited to see this game grow. So for now, I'm going to recommend picking this game up with a caveat - Don't buy this game if you're expecting a polished finished game filled with content at this moment.[/b]

Consider that this game will continue to grow. However, if you're expecting a complete product then early access and this game are not for you.

Now before I get into this, let me clarify why I have 0 hours in the game and yet, I'm writing a review. It's quite simple really - my laptop isn't capable of running the same, so I played on my Girlfriend's computer, on her steam account.

Well then, with that squared away, let's get into the actual review.
Factions : Origins of Malu is very much an Early Access game, and I had that in mind when sitting down to play. I didn't expect a fully-functional, hyper-polished game. In its current, Early Access state, this is only functioning as a MOBA, which is something many unstaisfied players are apparently unaware of, despite it being plastered everywhere. It being released so early in its development, before it is even reminiscent of its own genre, is to allow players to test out the combat system of the game, which in turn will allow the developers to fine-tune it prior to the full MMO launch.
There are three playable races in OOM, each with their own set of abilities. Right now in EA, there is little customisation, as only the race, gender and name of any character can be set. There are a few servers up right now, and the maps are pretty huge, meaning that there are certain hours when player population is low and finding someone on the massive battlefield might take a bit of time.

The combat itself is a blend of shooter and typical MMO. You have a set of abilites, mapped to numbers, however when using one, insted of activating the ability and it being used on a targeted enemy, the attack is performed or shot at the point to which your reticle is pointing at. Every ability is aim-based, except for the ones you use on yourself. While feautre-bare at the moment, and in dire need of polish (specifically the melee), the combat is very fun, especially in group battles.

As for the visuals, the game looks great. It uses the unreal engine to its fullest potential. The game is both visually and aesthetically pleasing, meaning not only is the graphical fidelity high, the design is great too.

If looked as a whole in its current EA state, the game is very feature-bare and unpolished, but good looking and, if we get down to it, pretty damn fun.

If looked as a taste of things to come? Based on this, very preliminary snippet of just the combat section of a deep MMO with numerous features, Origins of Malu will be an amazing game, and will most certainly be one of the most popular and acclaimed MMOs of this generation.

First I would like to apologize if my English is not the best sometimes. So, to begin I was really curious about Origins of Malu since I first hear about the project because I'm all over MMOs and roleplaying. When I saw the concept arts on their Facebook page I was mesmerised by the mood they radiate.
Now that I am able to play this beautiful game in my poor 3 year old not gamer PC I'm glad that OOM can be beautiful for me as well, but I'm sure that the graphics are even more beautiful on better settings. (You can see my uploaded screenshots if you fancy.)
The gameplay itself looks a bit like a moba for me which they stated to be like this until they finished to polish the game to be an mmo, which seems reasonable for me. Now you choose a character and a team (red or blue) and off you go shooting and hitting your enemies. The map is really big, I was lucky to find one opponent lol. Oh and the chat is working which is fun when we are exploring the map together with other team members.
So I truly believe in this game, and for an early access I'm happy to be a part of the growing and the upcoming success. The game seems to be on the good track, I can just recommend it for a reasonable price.

WHY IS THIS GAME SO HARD TO FIND ON THE STEAM STORE!!
In other news, yes this game is in development, I fell in love with the character design, yes my played time is nihilistic, butt♥♥♥♥ing christ they got ALIENS THAT ARE NON CONFORMISTIC, I.E. Only SLIGHTLY resembling anything vaguely human! The Elcor from Mass Effect acted more human than these ♥♥♥♥ers! I LOVE IT!
Give these people your money if you value your humanity, I may be a xenophile, but at least I have good taste. ;)
