What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are launching through Early Access primarily so we can refine the game one final time through user feedback. This includes optimizing controller support, creating new game modes and most importantly gathering interest in expanding the game to a multiplayer experience. The game will also be outfitted with a full suite of mods tools including a model and level editor.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are anticipating a 3-4 months of early access development, which isn't long, but is very important to the final outcome of the game.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of the game will have all finally decided features brought up during early access along with a lot more polish in gameplay.

To list:

(undecided/based on user demand)

- Online multiplayer
- Additional Game Modes
- Additional (unplanned) content

(Decided additions)

- In-game character editor
- In-game level editor
- Full controller support”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is currently in a fully playable state. You can play the game from start to finish although there are still some remaining enemies to complete creating and animating. The user interface isn't finalized as it hasn't been tested enough yet, however it shouldn't impact the state of the games development. As the game is close to completion and needs less than a year of work to be feature complete and polished.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Depending on the amount of features and content added during early access, which is something the community will be asking for, the price might go up. If we end up adding a handful of extra features along with a handful of game modes than players should expect the price to change a bit, but not too much.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will be able to help decide which added features to prioritize in the development of the game. Certain features, like online multiplayer or local multiplayer, would need a high enough demand to be a feature we'd add before any other. With that said, the community will have a big impact on the games growth and final outcome. Furthermore they will help design the in-game editors, since they'll be using them most often when playing.”

Status update

We're currently working on 2 new game modes called Classic Survival and Defense mode, both of these will support local co-op.

Classic survival is a lot like the old tech demo with the addition that you can choose your weapons and abilities before you start a round.

The defense mode has you defeat waves of enemies with a chance to buy upgrades and build defense structures in between waves.

Our plans are to release a first version of these around the end of this month, if people like the game modes we'll also be adding more maps to them afterwards.

There'll also be a smaller update next week which implements some of the still missing perks in the current campaign mode.

About This Game

Critical Annihilation is a Twin-Stick SHMUP (Shoot-em Up) made entirely out of tiny voxels. We take advantage of voxel technology to hype up the explosive gameplay. Everything is destructible to its core. As your home planet gets invaded by aliens you decide to take up arms with the rest of the planet and annihilate every single alien in site. As you progress in the game you'll bring yourself to whole new planets like the Moon and Mars until you've reached the aliens Mothership. Why exactly are these cliche aliens attacking your cliche planet in the good old fashion cliche way? It's for you to find out as you destroy every cube of their being. This is the same game played by popular youtubers Markiplier and JackSepticEye; Critical Mass. Now with updated art and updated code to bring you a more full, and action packed experience.

OH YES! THIS IS THE BEST GAME YOU CAN GET!

Pros:

- Leveling System
- Air Strikes (AC 130)
- Miniguns
- Infinite ammo on SOME weapons
- LASER WEAPONS
- SLAUGHTERING OF ENEMIES
- Great Music
- Different music each level
- Difficulty and enemies increase with each level as well as minibosses
- Stats that you can increase!
- Bonuses such as double exp, nuke (AoE that kills anything in its radius, with the exception of minibosses with enough health left to tank the damage), faster fire rate, etc.
- Different kinds of turrets that help you! Including but MIGHT not be limited to: Fire Turret and Regular Turret

Cons:

- You die ALOT (because you get overwhelmed, but you keep everything except current weapons, except standard rifle, and you just continue until you beat the level)

the music is amazing, Shurk did a good job on the beat and the devloper/s made a game look so cool (even when it's covered in blood splaters) every bit of detail in the game makes you look at the world and think it looks very simuliar to real life things (this only really applys to the cars, tanks, building and etc.)
this game may still be in beta, but it's a nice game.
the mobs are a "bit" annoying, (even the bosses can be annoying, because you could end up killing everything and then the boss shows up and shoots you ones and you died because of how low your hp is, even with 1.24 health regen.)
but overall the gameplay is great and how the game looks and handles is great. however the quitily settings don't have a large amount of customisation, meaning you can't select the frame rate. the quitly of the game (but you cab't do that to a voxal basiced game anyway so meh).
so I would recommend you buy this and play the crap out of it.
anyway, i'll just grab my rocketlancher and laser rilfe and start killing mobs, see'ya in 2 weeks :P

Critical Annihilation review

Overview
Critical Annihilation is a Twin-Stick Shoot-em Up voxel game in which almost every pixel can be blown up in a sense, Published and Developed, into early access Feb 12, 2016 by Devoga.

Graphics
For a pixel game not only does it have decent graphics, they have also been optimised so everyone no matter the pc can run them, they will no doubt be improved in the future with no cost of player loosing fps.

Music/Options/Menu
The music was fantastic, the options, simple to the point easy to navigate and understand, the menu was fancy looking and great for an early access game.

Pros and Cons
Pros:
Potential Potential Potential!!!
Fun time waster
A great survival game in the future if the devs do it right
Great physics

Cons:
No story for the events taking place
No backstory for the character's
No knowledge of what type of aliens you are fighting, and their motives

A good game with a large fanbase as well as future, I give it a 8.0/10

I have been gifted the key by the kind developers of the game. They make my review about games like this possible.

This game is up there with my favorite. I can't think of a better way to describe it than in a pro's and con's list, So i'll keep it short and simple.

Pros
- Absolutly beautiful graphics, There is something about voxel based graphics that makes me fall in love with a game.

- Everything is destructable, With everything bieng made of small bricks, it creates a great enviornment for blowing things up and shooting every thing. There is nothing more satisfying than finishing a level and seeing the large craters in the ground accompanied with half a building.

- Plenty of stuff to do, There are tons of levels to play, plenty of weapons to fight with, and plenty of enemies to fight, giving you enough explosions to last a lifetime.

- Very customizable, When you enter the options menu, there is a large assortment of settings to change, for graphics, audio, and key bindings. If you don't have the best computer, you can still play this game with sustainable FPS.

- BOOM BANG POW BUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ BOOM EXPLOSIONS

Cons

-Needs a little balancing on certain levels

- Nope can't think of anthing else

- BOOM EXPLOSIONS
