Ratz Update 2.3.4 - Hotfixes and new Cosmetics

Hello everyone!

First off, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for helping give Ratz a great release! It's been a long road, but the game is much better for all the effort that's gone into it… I hope you all continue to enjoy it!

Of course, as is often the way with games these days, a few nasty bugs have crawled into the mix since release. The biggest one caused the game to finish right after a new map loaded, meaning no-one was able to play. Also, sometimes players loaded different maps despite being in the same game! Don't worry though – that and other minor things are fixed now.

If anything unusual or weird happens to you in-game, please tell me in the comments so I can try to fix it.

As for tweaks, I've now made it so that there are player counts next to the game mode selection!

And as usual, I've also added a few new Cosmetic items to the pool to keep things interesting…

That's it for now – thanks again for your support and keep fragging!

Release day celebration - 20% off!

Hi everyone!

Well, it's been a long time coming - nearly 18 months since we first launched Ratz Instagib into Early Access, in fact - but finally, today is the full release of the game!

Since Ratz first went into EA, the game has come along massively; from localisation and new maps to the addition of character customisation and the from-the-ground-up creation of the RatzEd map editor, Lino's done an amazing job on every part of development. And let's not forget, he did this entirely on his own! If anyone deserves a standing ovation here, it's him.

Of course, today being release day means the real adventure for Ratz Instagib is just beginning! And to celebrate, we've set up a release discount of 20% for the next seven days - that means you can gift keys to your friends and get them all involved on the exciting blasting action.

We hope you'll all join us in saying congrats to Lino for everything he's done and help us spread the word that finally, the day of the Ratz has come!

“Ratz Instagib is just delightful. It's the game I've played the most so far this year, and I really can't stop.”
PC Gamer

“I don't think rat giblets are a thing, but the little critters seem pretty easy to cook after you've shot them with a rail gun.”

About This Game

Fast, frantic and full of blasting fun – take to the rat-tlefield and join the Ratz Instagib revolution!

Duke it out as a railgun-toting rat in household-themed arenas, with every shot being a potential kill – no shooting opponents repeatedly to little effect or suffering cheap deaths at the hands of people with an unfair advantage. It's every rat for themselves!

  • One Gun, One Shot – An even playing field means almost anyone can immediately pick up Ratz and start having fun, no matter what their FPS skill level.
  • Rocket Jumping – Use the dedicated 'Rocket Jump' button to mix up your movement; moving targets are harder to hit!
  • Maps – Enjoy 13 different maps based on real-world household environments, plus tonnes of user-created arenas!
  • Customisation – Unlock loads of customisation items to jazz up your Ratz, then choose from loads of beam and frag types to really show off your style.
  • Modes – The best that FPS action has to offer: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag and the almighty Freeze Tag!
  • Stats and Leaderboards – Fully integrated stat-tracking and leaderboards to help keep track of your progress… can you become the best rat around?
  • RatzEd Map Editor – Create your own stages and share them with the community via Steam Workshop – easy to use, but incredibly versatile

Why is it that you can only put bots on deathmatch you should be able to do it on all gamemodes when you host a game.
Can you please fix this?

I've played too much of it.
But 1/3 of it was spent in the editor.

It's basically Quake's instagib mode with rats instead of people.
There's a map editor (as i stated before) that allows people to create maps. This however is a double-edged sword as this also brought on troll maps and they were infesting every server causing people to leave. The editor itself is pretty good and user friendly, but I have my petty gripes with it.

Overall 9/10 imo

A fast paced FPS heavily influenced by Quake and it's Rail gun. Highly recommend checking it out if you you're a fan of arena shooters.

Amazing bit of fun and a great sound track to boot even if it does get a little bit repetitive after the 3rd track.

pros:
- 1minute to download
- Extremely addictive
- Very skilled (similar to first Quake: fast, accurate, bunnyhopping)
- There are some skins but not too many cosmetics overall in order not to distract too much from the gameplay
- Soundtrack (gorgeous jazzy-DnB)
- Even playing with 600 ping your game will feel super smooth

cons:
- lack players sadly
- workshop with maps from the community could help the game to grow

Conclusion
It may be my new favorite game, i would recommend any fan of old-school fast-paced FPS (Quake style) to buy it without a doubt!
